Gol Gol for me is Heart. Has potential but never really got there either from not being good enough or having the right people around to invest the time to release that potential.

Yes it is frustrating. We made a big deal of signing him. He wasn't fit enough to play, but then when he did come in he had a very good strike ratio goals/games. And then just faded away.

Over the seasons we really have signed a lot of players who have not come up to the mark.

The best thing about Gol Gol was his chant!

Melbourne Heart FC release Mebrahtu

Sunday, 2 February 2014

Melbourne Heart FC has agreed to terminate striker Golgol Mebrahtu’s contract, effective immediately.

Mebrahtu, who joined Melbourne Heart FC at the start of the 2012-13 Hyundai A-League season, received an opportunity with another A-League club and Melbourne Heart believed it to be in the Club’s best interest to allow him to move on.

“Golgol has been a good professional during his time with us so we wish him nothing but the best. Given he is moving on at season’s end, it was not worthwhile persisting with him ahead of other players who are here for the long term, which for us promises to be very exciting,” General Manager, Football Operations, John Didulica said.

Mebrahtu made 12 appearances for Melbourne Heart this season.

I guess he must have been told he was absolutely done here then.

Hardly any point in going there to not play otherwise.
