we should be looking for big names for next year, Bresciano will do wonders if we attempt to get him, and also a well known goal scorer will be very much needed if we want to be geniune contenders for the championship.

I would say that the runour mill has ground to a halt recently. JD is on Twitter saying that we will add 'some players' to the squad, which means 'some players' will be leaving, but other than that I'm struggling to hear a whisper of anything. In fact, the club seems to have gone rather quiet lately. Are we preparing to hibernate for winter?

personally i would like to see 4-5 new signings:

- Another keeper seeing bolton is likely to retire (someone like Janjetovic)

- A big centre back with experience, who can also play as a DM (Thwaite would've been ideal)

- Quality striker from europe (someone like Angelo Charisteas who would also pull a decent crowd)

- A winger, assuming terra and worm aren't being re-signed (any update on Jose Guerrero del Solar?)

+ Promote Zac Walker and Craig Goodwin from the youth team

The squad would then look like this:

Goalkeepers: Redmayne, Janjetovic

Defenders: Marrone, Good, Colosimo, Hamill, Behich, Goodwin

Midfielders: Fred, Thompson, Thwaite, Taseski, Germano, Kalmar,

Forwards: Babalj, Walker, Charisteas, Dugandzic, Williams, Hoffman, Zahra, Del Solar

Would give us plenty of cover for every position as most of these players are very versatile, and none of them will be missing long periods next season with olyroos commitments. It means we have 4 visa players on the books and hoping that each club is still allowed 5 visa players, i would finally look to sign another quality AM because we've seen how the team struggles without Fred. We would pretty much have a championship team IMO

Add Carlos Hernandez or Breschiano and the squad is amazing ;)

whats so LOL about that speculation

hes one of the oldest players in the NYL, hes only scoring goals because he is playing against 17 year olds... put him up against proper A-League opposition, he will struggle. he just isnt good enough

i hope he gets a run for the heart some time before the season ends just so you can see he isnt worth a spot for next season

when will Mario and christian7 get perma bans?

Walker is younger than Babalj, Goodwin and Behich, FFS.

He scores 12 goals at an average of well under a goal every 90 minutes at the age of 19, but nah ... not good enough, fuck him off.

It would be good to see Zac Walker get a run. He has peformed really well with minimal time this year for the youth team. He has a real eye for taking his oppotunities. He may just take his chance if given a go with the seniors. The only thing keeping him out would be the way the team is performing now. JVS aint going to change a winning formula.

Who knows, another A-League club needing a striker or backup could come calling over the next few months.

Tesla, didn't say we were going to sign Diamanti, just said it'd be good.

Why wouldn't we want Hernandez? He is one of the best players in the league.. But the club can't even afford Ice Baths so I don't think they could afford Hernandez's wages..

Massive lols at the club releasing Walker, but giving everyone else in the youth team new deals..

If you do not promote a guy like Walker and reward him, then you risk having the mood of your youth team not being that great.

It should inspire the kids to be the best, and after a year he has had he needs that reward as does Goodwin.

exactly.

need to sign walker and goodwin on senior contracts, so it gives the other players in the youth team the motivation that if they have a good season there's the possibility of getting a senior contract which is what they're all aspiring for.

...and fill up two places in the senior squad that then cannot be filled by anyone else? We already have 14 players contracted for next season. I've got little doubt that Goodwin will be offered a contract - he's just been selected for the Australian U-23's - but the bigger picture says that we will need to bring in players from outside to be competitive next year. We will not gain support or sponsorship by always hanging around in mid-table.

Hernandez would be good IF...

*We get him fit

*Have a manager who can manage him

*He is willing to get back and defend

We are in great need of a set peice specialist!

In answer to your points

*LOL

*LOL

*LOL

and we have Sarkies, i read somewhere in the media that he is a set piece specialist

In the Herald Sun today in the Hernandez article they state three clubs but name only two

On another matter Joel Porter can stay well away from the club as can Josh Kennedy.

Giving you a chance to retract the Kennedy statement before losing all credibility in future posts.

the rumor mid-season was wheelhouse was going to come to heart. probably wont happen i dont think....

hernandez is class, but might not fit into our system.... even fred helps out as much as he can defensively.

sarkies is a free kick specialist, but he does not play regularly enough and is not going to be in the team just because he can whip in the odd corner or get close (maybe score) from a free kick.
