Popular Post Fingman
The derby is officially sold out according to media reports so we are set for a big game with a big atmosphere. On that note we have 2 new chants that we would like you all to learn. One involves jumping and a fair bit of coordination and the other is a call and response between the bottom active area and the supporters on level 3. Continue reading for links, lyrics and instructions - please share this around to ensure as many people as possible learn these for Saturday night. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! -- Chant 1 - Jumping It is important to remember the 2 parts to this chant. The first time through you have your arms up, the chant is sung at a reasonable pace and no clapping or jumping. The second time through you put your arms around eachother and jump in time to the drum while chanting, the pace of the chant slows down slightly. This combination is repeated multiple times - don't stop! Example (from 1:30): http://youtu.be/Ux2ybLjgaHw Lyrics Sha la la-la-la-la, Sha la la (x3) Whoaaaa, Melbourne -- Chant 2 - Call and Response This chant will be lead by the bottom half of the terrace this weekend, the level 1 away active bay. The respondents will be the level 3 makeshift active area. Continue this chant until level 1 finish it up, we want it to run for as long as possible. Example (0:00 - 0:48): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5yG0N8YP_MLyrics Level 1: Ole OleLevel 2: Ole OleLevel 1: Ole-Ole OleLevel 2: Ole-Ole OleAll Together: Melbourne City Ole, Melbourne City Ole, Melbourne City Ole

Fingman
We will practice at the pub for sure. If it flops, it flops, but if we pull this off, it will sound next level good!
hyperfuzz
i reckon the call and response one would be a good one to try to get going at both ends of the ground for home games to try to bring the other half into the chants. possibly if a capo (looks like we have a couple!) and a group of active could go over to the swan st end around the same time every game (don't know when would be appropriate but it might be a night thing to do, say, every 60th minute) and get the call and response chant happening. would be a good first step in getting the whole crowd involved with chants. don't know how it'd go but maybe something to consider for next friday night. Jestr
Hyperfuzz I think it's a great idea but ATM we need to have south end gel a little more and to get all 3 active bays chanting together proud and loud. After that I totally agree with your suggestion. A sleeper cell on the north side to get GA joining in Edited October 23, 2014 by Jestr
hyperfuzz
Probably right! Might work better as a top/bottom (active/non-active) South end thing to start with. It'll all get there eventually. I believe in Melburnians
Attack11
Hi guys ... Amazing ... Just from experience in Chile some years ago... We found the best way for everyone to get familiar with the song was to sing it non-stop on the way to the nominated stadium gate and then we would wait at the gate as all the supporters gathered and we would start the chants.. It sounds great and people pick it up quick... If the leaders nominate a gate and all City Supporters gather there first before entering the stadium... Should be awesome!!! Lilywhite
I sat GA Swan st end last Sunday...I was trying to get some stuff happening during SHT, but not much interest...the Newcastle supporters, all 20 of them, were louder than any City fans. strider
I like these newer Euro inspired chants, easier and more noise generated.

No A league club terrace has done this which is what I like ORIGINALITY and CREATIVITY! Lets get behind it ladies and gentlemen. benzema23
two great chants for tomorrow, I think the suggestion of a general assembly before entering the stadium and firing up people with the chants is brilliant. Make this happen, just tell people via twitter and facebook.
n i k o
Will there be specific times that these chants will be done during the game? Like 30th min etc.
K-aram92
That first chant you posted up will be awesome. Can't wait to see how we sound and hopefully they put us up on the big screen too. The second one will be the most likely to flop I guess because it depends largely on how many people are up on the top level and how loud they are. But I like the idea and perhaps the chant could be used at AAMI with the terrace being split in two. FWIW, I quite like the chant in the first video that the opposition side are singing right before the sha la la chant kicks in. At about 1:05 in the video. Just my 3 cents
Attack11
So long as the core group is up for it and know the chant people will follow... The core group must me strong... fire up !!!!!

raw10
I know we didn't quite pull this off but I really want this to happen for this coming Friday's match. For the first chant, we should NOT try this when everyone are standing on seats. Give signal that we are going to do this so that we can get off out seats and make this happen. The last thing I want is to get anyone in the Active area gets injured! You are our asset , much too precious for you to miss our games and not lending your voice. Good effort tho.. at least we got the 3rd level standing and singing!! Love the atmosphere.
