  1. Couldn't agree more. With regards to the colours, I think CFG has got it spot on. They were always going to change the home kit, but using the Heart home kit as the "new" away kit is a smart move. It acknowledges the history(however short that may be) of the club and allows those of us that joined when they were Heart to hold on to that history. I bought my first Melbourne City jersey this year, and it was always going to be the away kit for that reason. Yes Friday sucked, but on the whole I think they are headed in the right direction. Patience is the key. I would rather win consistently in the long run than a lot for a short period. As for crowds, I don't have numbers(happy to be proved wrong if anyone does have them) but from appearances, the GA area at the opposite end of the active area appears to have more people than the last few years. I think what makes it look like there are less is because all the premium seats are on the left and right. If we're building a club then these are always going to fill up last. I mean, why pay extra when(derbies excepted) you can pay for a GA membership and pretty much sit wherever you want at a home game. We've got some way to go but I think overall, we are headed in the right direction.
  2. I can't wait until Friday and I hope we win. I also hope that if it doesn't go our way that we don't desert our guys. Last time we played there, this is what it looked like at the 80 minute mark: Sure, we were 3 goals down but so what. Support shouldn't be conditional. If you don't want to stay for the full 90, don't take the place of someone that does.
  3. Left my run late and wasn't sure if there would be tickets on here for the active area so got GA ones too make sure I can at least get to the game. Any chance someone can sneak me and my son past the gate Nazi for the active area?? I know it's sold out but there's normally a couple of idiot Victory supporters who can't read the Ticketmaster map properly!! There's a free beer in it if you can help. Cheers. ⚽
  4. That's my issue with him too. And even when he does make position he still misses it. Take the game against Newcastle, he got himself to the right position( very left of the goal) and it still managed to find the ball and bees dick sized gap between him and the post. Then he gets to the right position again(centre) and it goes directly over his head and hits the top bar while his hands are trying to make their way past his head. I don't have the exact stats(happy to be corrected if I'm wrong) but it appears that once you get past our defenders you have a better than 90% chance of scoring.
  5. I agree, the We Are Melbourne chant is the defining chant of this season. It's easy, and gets picked up quickly. I couldn't make it on Friday but I could hear it clearly on the TV. As for the call/response, I really think we should use the Come on you boys in red/white one. It worked brilliantly at the derby: trim.E8E84BB2-6926-4989-872E-81D275233BCA.MOV Just a thought.
  6. And also in 7th place!!! One more win and we're off to the finals!!!
  7. Man discovered fire Man landed on the moon Apple made a telephone
  8. I like it!! Here's my version: I'VE BEEN TO SYDNEY, AND IT'S A SHIT TOWN SO'S ADELAIDE,BRISBANE AND PERTHS A HOLE IN THE GROUND BUT NO MATTER HOW FAR OR HOW WIDE I ROAM I STILL CALL MELBOURNE HOME I would keep the last 2 lines as you did in the first version and repeat them for the big finish( I still call Melbourne HOOOOOOOOME) It's short and easy to learn and I agree, it would look great with the scarves. This should seriously be considered. I'm still relatively new to this forum thing so if someone smarter than me can bring it to Bearded Hearts attention that would be great!! way too many syllables in the second line Could make it 2 lines SO'S ADELAIDE,BRISBANE AND PERTHS A HOLE IN THE GROUND Thoughts?????

  10. Anyone going to the imp this Saturday? Normally it's the Imperial but this week it's different for the derby. Got this off the Melburnians(supporters group) Facebook page: Info on the derby this weekend. Pre-game will be at McMahon's Hotel (commonly known as Bev n Mick's) on the corner of Spencer Street and Hawke Street. Get there early for some beers and food before we head to the game; scarves will also be for sale. For people who could not get an active ticket, we will be filling bays 16/17 and the surrounding area on level 3 (see picture). This will ensure that we can all stick together in one location, sing together etc. You will need to get in nice and early to secure your seat in this area as GA seating is unallocated, making it a free-for-all. See you in the terrace!
  11. Sorry to be the spelling and grammar nazi....but they're="they are" there= over "here" or over "there" So if it has "here" in it( not to be confused with "hear", which has the "ear" in it because you "hear" with your "ear") then it means a place or location. Why does it matter? You quoted me so you understood what i said in my original message. Thought it was a forum not english school! Actually you are a spelling and grammar Nazi!! It needs the capital letter because it's the name of something.
  12. getting any a league players name on a top is risky I got Williams on my kit and i wont regret it. Been with us for a few years now and plus he is a top top bloke. Obviously not the best reason to get his name on my kit, but oh well I did the exactly the same thing for exactly the same reason!!! Great player and a great person.
  13. Any chance we can add the first one to the list as well???
  14. I'm the same. Didn't like it at first but now I think it's great. The fact that it seemed to evolve in to a chant (da da da da da.............SO HAPPY TOGETHER oi oi oi oi....... apologies if it was a planned thing that someone worked on!!) that is easy and gets people going is great and I am glad to be proved wrong. It craps all over victorys " Stand By Me" and I reckon if we belt out the chant version during their song we can ruin it for them. The chant was around before it became club song. Thanks for the info. The fact that it came from the active area and became the song means that we should own it and get behind it. A lot of people don't like it because they are under the impression that the club chose it and not the fans.

  16. I was the other adult in the front row!! Come find me next home game and we'll run em out of there. Also, I agree with the Capo positioning. He needs to be front and centre in the first row so everyone knows where to look. deal. then we shall drink beer together Yes we shall!!
  17. Nate - couldn't agree with you more. These people have bought active area memberships thinking that it's the same as being in an AFL cheer squad. It is very different and they will realise that very quickly. Cityzen - this will sort itself out pretty quickly. The people that don't want to be active will drift off to the side and quickly be replaced by those that want to participate.
  18. Agreed. Start simple then build it up from there. Good point about having the capo front and centre. Will need to rid the front rows of the buket hat wearing 12 year olds first. Hey! I was on of the few people in the front who is actually an adult. Felt like I was a babysitter the amount of kids around. Need some help around me to get rid of them. 19. Agreed. Start simple then build it up from there.
  20. Agreed, along with "Fuck All The Rest" yep spot on! both of these should be scrapped. Yeah they have to go. I don't mind the swearing but it seems a little try hard and we have a group that's coming up with some catchier and more clever chants so these can make way for them.
  21. Already planned That is awesome!!! Can't believe no one thought of it sooner. We HAVE to do it. It's way better than the second one( but happy to do both). Well done champion!!! Bearded Heart - Can we PLEASE give the first one a run?????
  22. Yes, the RBB do have a song to the same tune but it's a song used by probably half of Europe and even South America.Wonderful atmosphere guys! I know some people are critical but ask them for some constructive feedback, and they will freeze. Now here's my feedback based on today's match, MCFC V Newcastle Jets, 19 October. I don't mind if we are using similar tune to RBB so long as the chant is clear and distinct from them but I also wish we have something that none other clubs in the league are using like the one below. I also like We are Melbourne, We are City and This is city.. this is how it feels to be small chants. Capo did a great job tonight, well done boys! At times, cause others are talking around me, seriously guys if you want to talk about your trip overseas, this is NOT the time, I can't hear/see you so perhaps another capo in all 3 bays to coordinate? It will ensure that everybody gets the message that the active area is standing room only, chanting and singing is a must!!! Also, while I like our history name called Hearts, IMO we need to stick to 'City' when singing otherwise we risk an identity crisis! Like I said in the past, I would so love to see one day our club to have supporters like the one below but all in due time and the success on the field is important too to have a sustainable supporter base! http://youtu.be/jMI7Jg86qOYCouldn't agree more. Some teething problems(to be expected), but overall a great debut for the Melburnians. I also agree with your idea about the capo moving about or having some help in the outer bays. There's a thread called Active Area Ideas( full disclosure, I started it!!!) where I suggested the following: Have some people from the core organising group( I'm happy to pitch in and help) go to the outer bays and explain that we need them to stand and sing. Make them feel included rather than yelling at them for not participating. Most of them want to join in they are just too shy to ask!! Get the capo with the megaphone to start some chants from the outer bays and people will get on board. This happened once last year and it works. Or put some of the organisers in each bay to help co ordinate some chants. I don't want to bang on about it, but I think we are missing a great opportunity to build a really strong active area and we should at least have a crack at it.
  23. I agree. I have to admit, I was a bit suss about this one but it worked fantastically and sounded amazing. There was an issue with the bay to the right of the goal not getting involved and I think this is the chant that can be used to get them going. Short and simple, it's a good one to use for those that are new to active support. I know other teams use it, but I have no doubt we can make it our own and what better place to put our stamp on it than at the derby this week.
  24. Say it ain't so!! I will not go Turn the lights off Carry me home Fold the terrace! Well played everybody!!
