  2. Cobras Futsal Club and Melbourne Heart FC have teamed up to create an exciting new senior men’s team who will play in this year’s National F-League. Although only 2 years old, Melbourne Heart FC shows a firm commitment to growing the club into a total football club. Cobras Futsal Club started 6 years ago and is one of the pioneer clubs in the Melbourne Futsal League. Cobras boast having the largest number of FFV registered participants, teams in the MFL and State representative players in 2011. Cobras Futsal Club’s core existence is the development of Futsal players and promoting of the sport Futsal. Cobras Futsal Club endeavours best club practise and organised a trip to Spain in 2011 for its players to train and play with the best in the world. The partnership between Melbourne Heart FC and Cobras Futsal Club intends venturing Futsal in Australia to the next level. It is the policy of both clubs to embrace the general community without prejudice. This is why we are holding trials for this year’s Futsal team. During the trials we will be looking for players who are capable of playing Futsal at the highest level. Games will be conducted with full international rules and court size which is very different to social Futsal currently played around Melbourne. We recognise that there is not much knowledge of how the game is played nor are there many competitions which replicate the game as it is played at the highest level. We are therefore offering to teach talented players in the right environment. LINKS Cobras Futsal Club Melbourne Heart Futsal - Trials Registration Form To make the most of your trial we will be looking for the following: Futsal Technique - Players must show good touch and the ability to control and move the ball in a Futsal way Awareness and Decision Making - Futsal is a team sport and players must be able to use and help their team mates Fast Combination Passing is the Key to Breaking Down Organised Defences. Players must be able to pass and move intelligently Finishing - All players must be confident in shooting at goal when the opportunity arises Defending - All players must defend when their team loses the ball. The main points about defence are: All players behind the line of the ball Ball carrier must be put under pressure so that they cannot pass to dangerous areas Second defender must cover for first but also be mindful of his own man Goalkeepers - Must show good reflexes, be willing to come off their line, be good with the ball at their feet. Shot stopping techniques are also important and very little diving. Most shots are also stopped with the feet and therefore must have the ability and flexibility to do this Where: Mullauna Secondary College Sports Centre, 42 Tirana Street, Mitcham When: Sunday 22nd April from 2:30pm onwards. Exact time will be advised via email What to Bring: Playing attire, long socks, shin guards, Photo ID, Futsal shoes (non marking shoes) LINKS Cobras Futsal Club Melbourne Heart Futsal - Trials Registration Form

  5. It's sad but I agree. I just love this club and have such a passion for it but right now I just am not fussed. The club have made bad decision after bad decision and keep making it so difficult to gain respect. Tomorrow of course I want to win, but a loss wouldn't a) surprise me and faze me. Would mean the pressure piles on Alosi and the board.

  6. nahh if it was Heart, Mifsud would extend his goalless streak .... Whilst breaking both arms and legs in the process?

  7. Least excited I've been for a Heart game since I can remember, I too have no idea where the goals are going to come from.

  9. The difference in luck....if this was the Heart, Redmayne would have tripped as he saved that, taken out the penalty takers legs, received a red, and Adelaide would have scored off the result penalty, scoring again from the kick-off as a mighty gust of wind carried the ball over Telapi who had just come off the bench.

  11. Surprised this thread is so quiet. Am loving the start of the season - 11 games gone and we sit in 2nd, poised on Arsenal's shoulder. Scoring plenty of goals and looking good, with the lethal combination of Suarez and Sturridge (lol at Chelsea selling Sturridge for Ba - what were they thinking?) Tonight is the Merseyside Derby -looking forward to that (though to be fair Everton's form has been good too).

  14. Love the new console. Before I fired it up I thought I'd just plug the kinect in and never touch it again. But it's actually such an enjoyable and integral part of the experience. Whole thing has exceeded my expectations.

  15. Engelaar and Kalmar have both had a significant history with injuries as well. Dugandzic is also coming off a major injury but it'd be a bit unfair to put him in the injury prone list just yet. We've also had players like Fred, Skoko, Grella etc. Time to reasses what kind of players we sign.

  19. Nominating myself for president, I need an Anglo running mate to secure the Anglo vote and win this thing, any takers? Just kidding. Who is current president, is it Bozza? I like RWU a lot more since Bozza has been in charge (srs), keep him.

  21. Melbourne Heart FC ... In simple terms we are a Melbourne based club, we wear red and white, we are controlled by a Board and a Chairman, we were founded in 2008 and we were the 12th team in the A-League and first played in the 10/11 season, we play at the best stadium in Australia, our business operations are run out of La trobe uni which is also our main training facility but we do train at a number of different venues, we are known for our wheelie bin ice baths, our supporters are passionate and care about the club and actively try to grow our membership and convert others to jump on board, we are a family club, we have a rednut (ticker) for a mascot, our first ever goal was an own goal, the santa hat will always be celebrated by the club, we have the excellent Yarraside as our active support, there is a good level of ongoing engagement between the club and its supporters (and we have an official Fan Rep Group), our arch rivals are the tards, we have produced some "Good" young players in our short history (and will continue to do so with our academy), we've had an excellent Fanzine in Ship Happens, we have an excellent social media presence, we have a club that practices financial prudence and strives to turn a profit ... ...and yes of recent we have been playing like crap and we just cannot win with a coach whose days are seemingly numbered... ... but we do stand for something, we stand for Melbourne Heart

  22. Develop it as a training complex, club rooms, public transport easy, close to all the money private schools. Hey, we could turn ourselves into the 'silvertails' club and leave the Tards scratching around Oakleigh, Footscray and Broady

  23. After selling the players we payed to watch last season and the tripe dished up this season, the club should offer complimentary memberships to all supporters who agree to sign up again for another stint. The memberships should be delivered personally by MHFC officials along with a grovelling apology and a promise of better things to come backed up by facts and action. A bonus would also be nice.

  28. Anyone there? I read tweet saying: "@thefleague: Early goal to Melbourne Heart by Anthony Ramzy. Goal scorer Ramzy than carried off on a stretcher after injury during the goal celebration." Lol. Wish I saw it. Someone give me details.

  30. Ok, the squad (according to a few lads) is quite strong, but possibly not the strongest in the comp. Given that the match kicks off at 1pm, it would be nice for all those going to meet at the venue from about 12 noon to get behind the team. If anyone is able and willing to assist in transport out to Derrimut, post in here and request that people PM you. Go go go go go!
