  2. I feel I may have a better understanding on this than yourself. Firstly Tasmanians are ridiculously parochial. Hobart Hurricanes regularly sell out Bellerive Oval despite only having mediocre results. The same happen with the Tassie Devils in the NBL in the 90s every week was packed despite never making the playoffs people still backed a local team on a national stage and only because of poor management mostly on the NBLs behalf they folded. For years Tasmania rallied for its own AFL team. Had corporate backing even a major sponsor but the AFL chose these larger population areas. Which are still struggling to generate decent crowds. Now the FFA have the chance to massively leap frog the AFL and commit to the whole state which could have huge benefits. For many years now there has been more registered Soccer players than any other sport in Tasmania. But there has been no reason to support Australian soccer. I have no doubt Soccer could become the number 1 sport in Tasmania simply with the support of the FFA. Remember, it's one thing that David Gallop has long aspired too, for the whole country. Even targeting these larger population areas are anything then guaranteed to prove successful. Look at this very club. The second club into a sporting city of more than 4.5 million and we consistently attract just 7000 fans. Whether this happens on not it's great to see that the FFA are clearly getting numerous bids in expanding the A League which I'm sure everyone would agree is promising for the future.

  5. Ok so i got to the game and it was a pretty impressed with the city team. A good win by a dominant city squad. I reckon Arzani played well as expected, however a couple of others really grabbed my attention. Don't know names of some only numbers - so if any one else can put a name to a number it would help. most of the players i have picked i have never seen before so they are either new or young. right back 36 - good going forward and was looking to hook up with his winger etc. had a couple of runs into box and looked dangerous midfield - 46 - really good player, looks young for sure but is so calm and controlled. had some good shots on goal and was unlucky not to score. was constantly playing balls through and setting up opportunity. got a great assist to a goal. tall Dark kid - Ahmed 41 - was destroying the opposition - just gliding past them and got two goals. if he keeps playing like that he will play A league for sure. played last year winger with the head scarf - 50 - also looked good and nearly scored. mid field 34 - really hard worker possibly could pass the ball sooner, but was looking for a runner etc. overall was a great game IMO.

  11. For a winger, he does a lot of (very effective) work tracking back, tackling and winning possession. Very brave too given his size.

  12. Jvs arrived and he just was there. Then he left, we though he was gone for good but he returned. For a while he was in the background just lingering there without any benefit. We almost forgot he was there and all of a sudden bang... he is officially here again. We sort of got used to having him around and realized that we stuck with him. Most people want him gone, some don't care any more because nothing seems to work and he just won't go away. Tell me please is there any difference between jvs and herpes???

  14. There is a good young goal keeper who I thought might get some more minutes this season, who may have to play some NYL to get minuts into his legs Sorenson I think his name is, may be worth looking at

  16. As good as that is, with the money hes being paid and with ability he has he is being wasted as a decoy. I understand him trying to create space for others, but ffs you're timmy freaking cahill! Australias greatest socceroo! We could play retre as a decoy for a fraction of the price, we're not going to win the league if arguable our best player on our list is "creating space" for others. The cynic in me says this is just an excuse for his poor performances so far, has he just been creating space for others the whole season then? I feel as if this was any other player he'd be getting more questions asked about why he isn't dong a lot in our games, but because he's timmy cahill, he gets a pass.

  17. Two amazing goals and another great game from this beast. Definitely a privilege to have him. ... but as I've said before and whacked for too; would score 40 goals a season if he actually used his left. Everyone's crapping on about how they should have won 3-2, but no-one has said anything about the absolute sitter he missed for his hatrick directly after his second last night. Well he didn't miss it, he didn't even get a shot off where he was one-on-one with the keeper running into goal. Same thing at the end of last weeks game at 0-1, running into the box one-on-one and decided to prop back onto his right and lost the ball. This happens at least once a game. I guess it's why he is here and not still in Europe.

  18. I agree that at the moment Bruce is getting knocked about too much each match. Even when he's on fire early, long balls in the air to him are a waste of time as he gets shoved off the ball too easily. He needs the ball delivered on the deck about 3-5m in front of him so he can use his pace. If I were the coach (haha) I'd be routinely subbing him off at half-time and bringing on Fitzy. Bruce is the better footballer, but we need to give the lad's body some respite. Part of our problem is that a number of our players routinely delay their passes too long, and this spells trouble for players such as Kamau and Fitzy who rely a lot on their pace to create the opening. Caceres was a big offender in this last night. We're being choked in attack not so much by defenders but by our own slow ball transition.
