Good luck to Kalmar. I hope he does well, been out for a a while. Bad luck about Colosimo, he has been great in last few games. Goodwin must be on injured list, cannot believe that he has not ben given a chance. Or is he just been kept out because he may be leaving. ???

If he's leaving then fuck him, leave him at home.

By a coach whose already told everyone his fucking off? A bit harsh IMO.

Hmm,I brought this issue up in the Goodwin thread that to my surprise went largely unnoticed bar one. Called it juvenile but in all honesty its well beyond that. Best available team should be assembled in the pursuit of success at ALL times baring discipline reasons. My belief is he fits in that squad so its puzzling his lack of appearences the past 6 or so week. Cant find a reason other than his moving on and to exclude him which is a a gross injustice on the team and more importantly paying fans. I hope im wrong but if not I hope for major changes at head office during the off as its fkn disgusting, spiteful and peoples egos are more important than winning it seems.

Back on topic though, Perth have beat us 3 times this year? Can't see the trend changing but hopefully we have a 'september' specialist or two, pardon the AFL analogy. Whole team needs to play out of their skins Sunday.

They have beaten us 2 times at home and we (both 2-1) beat them 2-1 in Perth, if stats mean anything get on heart to win 2-1!

Doesn't suprise me at all. JvS has repeatedly shown his preference for certain players over others, irrespective of their form. Once you're out of favour with him you're out of favour, full stop.

Well, here we go. Cup-tie football. Has JvS got the tactical nous to get the boys over the line in a completely different type of competition? IMO it's a question of whether the boys are prepared to die for the red-and-white. We know players such as Aziz, Good, Srhoj and Germano will run until they drop - it's just a matter of how much the others are prepared to give. Bolton is going to have to throw himself around at the back as never before, and Fred's got to demonstrate that he can boss the team and keep the focus there. We have to be the underdogs - but if we can score first IMO we're a chance. Perth must be favourites at home, and if they score first I think they will out-muscle us.

All the best boys.

The difference is that Goodwin is leaving to join a competitor, apparently. If he was leaving to persue a career in Europe, we'd wish him all the best. But he's leaving us to join another A League club. I'd love to have him on the bench, but if he's joining the Jets, why would we do anything more to help his development?

the longer the game goes, the more we will dominate. We've got the legs to go for 120, perth won't be able to keep up for the full 90. They'll come out firing, and as long as we hold out we should get the win

120 mins playing a defense with a average age of 21? I don't like our chances of lasting, in all honesty.

With Hamill-Good at CB, Srhoj has a lot of pressure on him and will have to play a blinder.

If Mascerano can play at CB in the UCL, I don't see why we can't play Shony there, he was very impressive there in preseason, defensively sound naturally, and we all know he has the skill to play us out of the back.

If I was in JvS's shoes, I'd play:

Bolton

Marrone, Germano, Good, Behich

Srhoj

Thompson, Fred, Terra

Dugandzic*, Babalj

B: Mattei, Hamill, Kalmar, Worm.

*Dugandzic to continue in his current role, playing of Eli as a SS.

In that case then with myself needing a result today in AFL to have Perth running in the last leg of a 19-1 multi, i'll be having a little saver on the draw and heart. Touch wood!

I can't and never will buy in to this 'leaving then let them rot' approach. It's life and these things happen from sporting clubs to the boardrooms of corporations and small business the world over.

Winning to me is what matters not bloody childish games filled with negativity. I could be barking up the wrong tree of course but I'm pretty confident there's been recent games where he should have been used.

I wouldn't worry about the experience he will gain as a few games hardly makes the player. Next season is a loooooong way off so why waste your time worrying about tomorrow when its a guaranteed fact there will come a time when there is no tomorrow.

I'm just really disappointed the club has taken that line of thinking as I would have hoped the ethos would be above that.

Sorry, end of rant!

don't know if you remember back during the sydney match (where we drew 1-1 from that dodgy corner), Germano was playing as a DM and slotting back in between the two centre backs (for example: Hamill-Germano-Good) to create a 3-4-3 formation and allowed the full backs to push up into the midfield. Brisbane play like that with paartalu slotting back in between the CBs every now and then and playing out from there. Thought it worked quite well and we looked very organised playing that way. I've only noticed us doing that in the sydney and the adelaide matches earlier in the season though.

True.

I'm assuming this will be executed tomorrow night.

Really, having a top six so-called finals series is a waste of time IMO. As was the case last year, 5th and 6th went out in the first match they played. If we must have this crappy finals thing, instead of a fair dinkum A-League Cup with a draw such that every team gets a chance of a home match, then make it the top four teams only.

Anyway, time to move on. Get the new manager on board asap, release the dead wood from the squad, make some astute signings, get a stiff pre-season lined up, and make next season an improvement on this one.

Next season starts now.

words cant describe how shattered i am at the moment with this result, but good effort from the boys throughout the season

It was very windy at the game, it made good football very difficult. Despite that we should have done better, worm wa right t the end of the game we said 'we had a shit game'.

I never realized how poor the lighting is at NiB either, I'm surprised it meets FFA standards.

We need to sign a forward who can finish and a Madaschi like CB for next season

7 goals in 9 days now.

You on the bandwagon yet?

it was after my post that he would score when he said that!

we get a Smeltz like player and we automatically finish 3rd or 4th this year.

Better team won, an end to a season that showed alot of promise and hopefully we can take it further next season! Well done boys!

wasnt too upset when we lost, just remembered the good times this year! ^_^

Right on, next season starts now.

Get in a manager as soon as possible, give the boot to the deadwood at the club, give the players a break but bring them in early and work them hard on their fitness and on the tactics for a massive next season.

6th was a failure. That is the way we should be treating it. We under performed and we need to be better. If anyone thinks we had a successful year I will throw up.

At least colosimo wasn't there to concede a penalty though, right ?
