InMyHeart
Can't blame facilities Can't always blame luck, We have too many injuries, and if we want to change our Melbourne heart ways, well keeping this bloke won't help. He is still surviving from our horrible year last year, and he smells of melbourne heart all over, fk this bloke off and get a proven performer. jw1739
Actually didn't he do quite well last year? He did get one or two players back on the park - e.g. Germano.

johnno cpfc
Honestly, some of you guys on here are very fickle last year most of the comments re Ripamonte were salutory and what a great job he had done etc etc now you want crucify the man for goodness sake he can get the players to a certain point then it is up to them to put in . I think what is needed is for the players to have a bit of mongrel instilled into them tell them straight up shape up or you are OUT.I would rather lose every game as long as the players put in a full 90 minutes and even with some of our youth players . NewConvert
Actually so far the soft injuries have been Koren, Germano, Williams and Garrucio (I don't think I missed anyone). Germano now has a long history of soft tissue injuries and looking from the outside looks to me his career is coming to a close due to his body's inability to cope with the rigours of professional football. Not sure what happened with Garrucio but he seems to be on the mend. Koren? Too old? Williams is a concern given that he has just commenced a new contract. So far this season he seems to be able to play every second match. Why?
jw1739
I see Nick Kalmar doesn't get a mention in the squad announcement - is he injured or now right down the pecking order? Garuccio seems to have repeated ankle problems. I thought I read somewhere that Williams is having intermittent groin tightness, and possibly knee issues as well. Who knows about Koren. He seems to be getting worse with every "set-back."

n i k o
Williams did full training session today, as did kalmar. Kalmar is probably just unfortunate due to our midfield being overloaded.

Good to know about Williams - just have a strong feeling he isn't ready. Happy to be proven wrong though. Think Nicky may be in trouble though as they would probably want to promote one of the younger dudes before him.
Murfy1
I see Nick Kalmar doesn't get a mention in the squad announcement - is he injured or now right down the pecking order? Garuccio seems to have repeated ankle problems. I thought I read somewhere that Williams is having intermittent groin tightness, and possibly knee issues as well. Who knows about Koren. He seems to be getting worse with every "set-back." I'm pretty certain Kalmar is just down the pecking order ATM. Which was supposed to happen after a successful recruitment period over pre-season: that some of last season's starters would become this season's bench players and omitted players. We'll see it more often once some more players come back to full fitness as well (I expect Garuccios will displace Ramsay, and Koren will displace Murdocca swiftly once they're fully fit). I don't think it's established just yet that there's any significant fitness concerns surrounding Garuccio. He's had 2 ankle injuries that I can recall, with the first being a contact injury owing to a horrible challenge from Sydney's Fabio in late 2012, and the recent ankle injury also being an impact injury that happened at training. Koren has a very good history with regards to staying injury free, so I don't think his injury can be attributed to much besides misfortune. I don't buy the argument that all players over 30 are especially liable to injuries. Okay, maybe with with each passing year above 30 the likelihood of injury increases a little. But still I'd say that with Koren, at 34, that his fitness history is a much stronger determinant of his fitness than the fact he's on the wrong side of 30. So I'm tipping him to make a full recovery when he's over his calf complaint in roughly 3-4 weeks. So all up there's only Koren and Chapman who are injured right now, and Chapman reportedly only has a hamstring injury that will cause him to miss 1 week. Therefore I don't know what criticisms could be leveled at Ripamonti right now, as the squad overall seems to be in pretty good shape, and in a much better situation than in previous seasons, where the team seemed to average 4 to 5 players being unavailable due to injuries per week. jw1739
I've deemed this thread unwarranted and have locked it. There's already a thread on Player Injuries. Please post updates on individual players to that thread. Thank you.
jw1739
Unlocked this thread... I was away when his departure came to light. Does anyone know whether he was pushed or whether he's returning to Europe for other reasons? Was there any club announcement about his departure? Pete Heartspur
Thought I heard/read he was going back home/elsewhere and that CFG were bringing in the own person/people, although I could have just pulled that out of my own head/arse.
