Hammerhead
At least if we win against turkey we should get through, 2+ goals would be needed incase El Salvador beat Colombia.
mus-28
Makes you wonder how different that result would've been had a certain J.Walker been playing at right back instead of Geria. Both goals were directly his fault, the 1st he somehow managed to miss a simple header and the 2nd he got dragged to the ball as his winger ran down the line and crossed for the goal. Can't see us getting anything against Turkey, meaning we'll finish bottom of the group.

mus-28
Bundled out bottom of the group, losing 2-1 to Turkey. Led through Jamie MacLaren but again couldn't hold a lead. Lots of pundits fapping about us playing nice football and praising Okon. Nice football means shit if you don't get the results. It was criminal that Hoole played more minutes on the wing than Williams and MacLaren. Da Silva played 45 minutes of good football all tournament, Geria offers nothing at RB other than the ability to pass it straight back to where he recieved it from. Shambles.

Was our boy Jez eligible for selection? If so, surely he was a better candidate for RB than Geria. Not only did Jez play nearly half a season of senior football, he had some standout performances against real quality players. Robbed. Tesla
Probably for the best, I don't think I could stand the fapping over our future national team prospects if we did well, even though there would be very little correlation to future senior nt quality since only 1 or 2 players from each u20 wc will be in a socceroos wc squad. InMyHeart
so 1 point from a major tournament surely his selection should be scrutinised as well as the performances, losing to EL Salvador should never happen at any level Paul Okon, you failed this country

jw1739
IMO a big factor is that we just do not play enough football in this country - a six-month off-season is just too long. Granted El Salvador has a population of only 6.5m, but they play the Apertura/Clausura format with 18 matches in each and they're in action virtually the whole year round. I know we're talking about U20s but I'd say at all levels there is more football for the players.

Its the kids all living in tight quarters with eachother with the only thing they do for fun being football out on the streets in countries like El Salvador, Spain, Brazil etc which makes a huge difference. 6 -14 year olds in Australia wouldn;t all be playing every day imo like these kids. mus-28
Young Socceroos in action again tonight against Saudi Arabia in the COTIF Tournament in Spain, featuring Garrucio & Mauk Paul Okon again showing he must be able to suck a golf ball through a length of garden hose to get a coaching job. We've lost our 1st two games to Qatar 1-0 and Mexico 4-2. IIRC he has 1 win in his past 10 outings as Young Socceroos coach.
