im guessing you put in the wrong email cause i get them all the time. Or its in your spam.

Fine idea about getting members to bring a friend, I reckon it would be good to do against the wanderers round 5 given thats our first match on SBS

Some advice for club administration to help increase membership:

1) I was a member last season and have not received anything about new memberships, by email or post. The first I heard about this were those Melbourne Heart website ads that are everywhere these days.

Hopefully these ads attract new members, but also need to maintain the existing membership.

2) There are many empty seats at the regular games so would be great to give members free tickets for friends. I invited a friend to that new years match last season and they loved the supporter atmosphere.

3) I would guess that the majority of members (like myself) are not actively reading these forums so should email the membership about exciting developments, like signing Kewel. I just discovered that this morning.

1) So you can see website ads, but you didn't know kewell was signed? I'm assuming you think Orlando Engelaar is just a random name generated to cause excitement amongst fans?

2) I could be wrong but aren't they planning to do that this year?

3) The majority of members at least read the paper, or see billboards across town, or attending other sporting events... or just don't live under a rock.

Maybe you should ask the club to send you telegram updates?

Surely you're not serious.

You'd have to be under a rock or in Clive palmer's underpants not to hear about HK signing

The number of empty seats is embarrasing so why not every game (besides derby)? Or does it cost the club to give away tickets?

LOL

I like to play and watch soccer but rarely read soccer news. Naturally most people on here do, but the club can't just cater for the hardcore supporters if wants to grow.

Hardcore supporters? What other way would you like the club to tell you about signing's? Have Harry kewell come to your house and tell you personally?

Why would I buy a membership if I can just use my mates freebies to attend every single game?

Sick of seeing 16 and 18 with seated families. How can the club get better at communicating what the bays are for? Surely continuous reminders on FB, twitter, email newsletter and game-day signage/on the screens etc would do the job

Bays 16 and 18 were only changed in the middle of last year, so there were people who were just sitting in the seats they always had been, this year you would have had to buy active to sit in those seats.

My question is why go from 1 active bay to 3 ???

Why not ensure we can fill 2 bays solid at every home game before releasing 3rd bay

Last season it was pretty ordinary as 80% of ppl in bay 18 were sitting down and whining how we were standing and blocking "their view"

Agree, the demand wasnt there, and probably still isnt.

Could do ID check and just allow a person to receive the freebie once. Like at the casino.

Or could give out a limited number of free tickets for members valid at any non-derby game.

Leaving the seats empty is a missed opportunity.

I think the casino's turn over a tiny bit more money than us, and thats why they give you a free 5 dollar chip :)

Giving away free tickets devalues membership to potential members and frustrates current members who have paid full price.

Less people are likely to sign up if they can get free tickets.

And this

5576 at the moment which is a nice jump. Was pessimistic about 6000 by round 1 and probably still am, this would mean we need approx 80 odd a day to get this before the Victory game. Would be awesome but the club has put it out there that that is their goal. Reckon we might just miss it but if we win the derby on Sat I think this will tick over 6000 late next Monday.

Uhhh...good luck with that...and here I thought I was optimistic! lol

I think you're time frame is a little ambitious. I'll be happy if we hit 6000 after our first home game to be honest. I say "after" our first home game because I'm guessing there'll be a few signing up on the day of the match  ;)

If 6000 was achieved by round 1 I'm not sure how anyone could suggest that's nothing but a great result. That's more than 90% of our best ever figure.

Remember Heart was 10 minutes away from winning a wooden spoon last season and gained 1 point outside Victoria.

To me this shows if on field performances come Melbourne Heart can have a large presence in the Victorian sporting market.

Last season I was in bay 18 with couple if mates. We stood and sang white the rest of the ppl in there just sat like dead flogs

Active bay?

Not at all!

Middle bay was full so there was no option.

But if the middle bay was extended up .....

It's our mission to stand in Bay 18 and either annoy as many sitters as possible, or convert them.

5613 @ 9:45pm!

We need 87 members in the next 4 days to make that 20% increase the day before our first game! That's 22 per day which is very achievable the way we've been going the past few days.

At the moment we're sitting on 18.17% increase! That's pretty damn good!

5619 @ 10:15

Needed till 20% increase: 81 members

Haha I am just going off this last week which has been pretty big, plus going off the fact a large people will sign up on the Saturday at the actual derby, then IF we win a large number of people will hopefully sign up on the Sunday, plus taking some time for processing can maybe see the figure sneaking up to 6000 around Monday arvo, would still be happy with 6000 by the CCM game but. Not always an optimist but as I was on 442 saying that we could struggle to make 5600 by the central coast game so was happy to be proven wrong!

Am loving the counter but, reckon it has definitely enticed more fans, I think people have felt they want to chip away and increase that number slowly but surely!

5686 @5:30pm!!! 14 to go for that magical 20%!!  :D

Anything beyond 5,700 this week will be due to the phenomenal effort every Heart stakeholder put in this off-season!!

And also Harry Kewell. He was on Ch 9 news on Saturday night and the reporter said to him, 'memberships are up 15-16%', as if to pat him on the back. Kewell responded with "Is that all!!!" Anyway, people have responded and the last couple of days have seen a nice jump.

Really surprised we got a 20% increase as last year was absolutely pathetic performance wise. I know this has probably already been mentioned but what was last years final membership figure?

I think it was just under 6,500 after we sold 5 game memberships. A good season should see us pass that easily on current figures.
