Victorian NPL & State Leagues

Start in about 3 weeks. Club I play for has moved home grounds to Melbourne Knights' outside pitch which has made me excited. Finally get to train on the ground that I play on aswell which I haven't done for about 4 years.

Anyone heard when the league structures/fixtures come out? Seems this stupid NPL rubbish is delaying everything.

The NPL application form closes on the 20th of January, but a preliminary list of teams was expected to be announced today. 7th of February is the date for the final fixture announcements, however the season was expected to start early this year, so who knows how all those things fit together.

I believe the successful applicants will be announced on February 10th. Today the FFV released updated NPL licence documentation.

Majority of the VPL clubs will be accepted into the NPL with Bulleen being the only club outside the VPL who will be accepted into it. Can almost guarentee Richmond won't be accepted in due to the stadium requirements. Just what i have heard and from very reliable source/s. Watch the NPL fuck over clubs and juniors with all the expenses that are required on a yearly basis.

Surf Coast???

The NPL was always going to have Regional Teams in Victoria,

And the Surf Coast is going to explode in terms of Housing Development in the next twenty to thirty years.

Played them a few seasons ago, rubbish.

Yep, there are going to be a lot of blow outs with these Regional/Smaller Metro clubs.

Apparently FFV wanted just one division but FFA have told them the must have two, hence no structure released today

Wonder if this will affect the cup draw tomorrow or the league Tuesday.

Avondale Heights ROFF. This is destined for failure.

Surely will end up in a second division with the likes of "Bendigo Amateur Soccer League" (lol). At least Avondale Heights would have been in State 1 this year.

Really don't see how this is going to work financially.

How are regional clubs going to afford travel every week (incl. Junior teams) all over the state + all of the qualified staff they require etc. and be expected to compete. What parent is going to spend $1k+ on rego fees to play for Avondale Heights when there are bigger clubs like Melb Knights, South Melb etc. around?

Anyway just for interests sake + I'm bored

Div 1?:
Bentleigh Greens - Greek Cypriot - VPL
Dandenong Thunder - Albanian - VPL

Green Gully Cavaliers - Maltese - VPL
Heidelberg United - Greek - VPL
Hume City - Turkish - VPL
Melbourne Knights - Croatian - VPL
Northcote City - Greek - VPL
Oakleigh Cannons - Greek - VPL
Pascoe Vale - Macedonian - VPL
Port Melbourne Sharks - Greek - VPL
South Melbourne - Greek - VPL
Werribee City - Italian - VPL

Richmond - German - State 1
Sunshine George Cross - Maltese - state 1
Moreland Zebras - Italian - State 1
Div 2?:

Box Hill United - Greek (?) - State 1
FC Bulleen Lions - Italian - State 1
St Albans Saints - Croatian - State 1
Springvale White Eagles - Serbian - state 1
Avondale Heights - Italian - state 1

North Geelong Warriors - Croatian - State 2
Brunswick City - Greek - State 2
Dandenong City - Croatian - state 2
Eastern Lions - None?English? - State 2
Kingston City - Greek - State 2
Whittlesea Ranges - Italian - State 2

Ballarat Red Devils - Aus/none - state 3

Surf Coast - ? - State 4

Bendigo Amateur Soccer League - New
Goulburn Valley Suns - New

The numbers have actually worked out pretty well for the state leagues though. Assuming teams will be pushed up to fill the gaps, every league will now have 12 teams (minus 1 team, so hopefully a Metro team can come up) which is the ideal number so each team plays against each other twice, rather than having 15-16 teams in each State 5.

Pascoe Vale is Macedonian, not Italian.

If Goldburn Valley Suns isn't new it might be Macedonian too given name and that Shepparton has a big Macedonian community. Seems to be some google results so not sure if new.
