Looking forward to this one and having my first look at some triallists and new signings. From the video seems like we missed a bagful of chances at Geelong and that we need plenty of improvement in front of goal. At this stage I still think we're going into the season short of goalscoring options - too many players who appear to go into panic mode as soon as they catch sight of the white posts.

A thread for pre-match thoughts and post-match comments.

I bet Mebrahtu and Gray will play as well. Heart's twitter account said they were "set to play" a day before the last match, so they should be fit. Aloisi will have to look at these two players before the season starts.

Will be interesting whether there are anymore triallists. It doesn't appear that any youth team players are getting promoted, so it wouldn't surprise me, as we are still a few players short of a full squad.

Tagline: ACG All Suk Tunna's Dik.

cannot breathe.

It's looking likely that we'll have a HD camera for this one.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but we trailed the use of an iPad, as a camera wasn't available to us.

Promotional image to come tomorrow. Any requests for the background image, tag line etc. ?

nice work lads, iPads aren't really that great for filming footy on a rooftop though.

pls extended footage of Y-Side celebrations...

Keep the promotional image simple IMO, like the last one.

Fantastic news that the game might be recorded in HD. It builds up excitement for the season to start seeing these pre-season highlight videos (especially for the many fans who can't get to the games). It would be good if zoom could be used as well, so the goals could be seen a little more clearly.

Thanks for your efforts! Keep up the good work!

Good to know, I was thinking you recorded it with a potato judging by the quality

Do we really want Victory fans filming us and to a lesser extent MHFC's pre-season games in HD?

MVFC supplying the HD cam?

It builds up excitement for the season to start seeing these pre-season highlight videos (especially for the many fans who couldnt give a fuck about getting down and supporting the club in these games + the handful that live in rural areas)

Fixed.

From the MHFC Website:

Recent Melbourne Heart FC recruits Dylan Macallister, Steven Gray and Patrick Gerhardt are again set to feature when the side faces Port Melbourne at SS Anderson Reserve tonight.

Following a 4-0 triumph over the Victorian Champions League XI last week, Heart’s preparations will step-up a gear against the State League One leaders as Head Coach John Aloisi continues to make his mark ahead of his debut season in charge.

While Croatian striker Josip Tadic is yet to touch down in Australia, Aloisi has largely had a full complement of players to work with over the past month, and as demonstrated by Macallister’s debut brace last week, the squad’s new arrivals have taken little time to settle in.

However, tonight’s line-up will be far from full strength, with attackers Mate Dugandzic and Golgol Mebrahtu in addition to midfielders Fred and Jonatan Germano out of action as the quartet instead participate in light training at the Club’s La Trobe University headquarters.

The match though will provide an opportunity for Aloisi to cast his eye across a number of triallists including Andreas Govas and Josip Konyit, while 2011/12 National Youth League squad members Stipo Andrijasevic, Josh Groenewald, Jeremy Walker and Zac Walker will also take to the park.

The Club would also like to confirm next week’s proposed friendly against Richmond has been cancelled.

Squad vs Port Melbourne

Aziz Behich, Clint Bolton, Simon Colosimo, Patrick Gerhardt, Steven Gray, Jason Hoffman, Nick Kalmar, Dylan Macallister, Michael Marrone, Andrew Redmayne, Matt Thompson, David Vrankovic, David Williams, Stipo Andrijasevic (T), Josh Groenewald (T), Jeremy Walker (T), Zac Walker (T), Andreas Govas (T), Josip Konyit (T), Sam Mitchinson (T)

1) Has the venue changed?

2) Nice long list of trialists

3) No mention of any further plans re: cancelled Richmond game

Interesting to see us trialling a few WA youth prospects. Woodcock and now mitchinson. Another I reckon we could look at is Jesse makourounous. Every time I've seen him play he has looked the goods. Including tearing our youth team apart last season.

Will never get more than token minutes at glory and at this stage of his career he needs to start getting a regular look in at first team football.
