  1. David Lyons was the epitome of incompetency imo.
  2. I think promotion would certainly help- particularly for the U20's: the NPL U20 is much better than the NPL2 U20
  3. So Final day of the NPL1 Season today. Bentleigh Greens are the premiers with Heidelberg United finishing 2nd. Northcote city have been relegated along with victory youth. Richmond finish in 12th place meaning they take on the winner of the NPL2 playoff (2nd in east vs 2nd in west). For anyone who enjoys passionate games of football- I highly recommend going to it, I went to North Geelong vs victory youth last year which was epic. City youth look to have fucked up a great position in the league (sound familiar) and look a very unlikely chance to sneak into a playoff spot.
  4. That would be Braeden Crowley, former Newcastle Jets player- currently at northcote city. Scored 5 goals in one game the other week!
  5. This is the best womens football match I have ever seen. Lydia Williams save was fucking epic!
  6. Actually somewhat off topic, but do you think the reason Fox sports have brought garb back to Australia is because they lost the EPL coverage?
  7. Victory youth are playing south melbourne today. After all the chaos last game, victory decided to make the game closed to the public (because they were incapable of providing adequate security) and quite surprisingly, they are playing the game at AAMI!! 2pm kickoff, live on south's Facebook. Very interesting, I wonder if this sets any precedent for some more city games pre-season at aami, or if it further highlights that Victory have a better deal at AAMI.
  8. Looks like we are on for a trip out west to Somers Street. Another mid-table NPL team who are mostly keen to play us due to their upcoming FFA cup campaign and the knowledge that NPL finals are off the cards for them. 4-0 win. NEEEEEXT
  9. most likely penrith. Its where they played brisbane roar last year
  10. Looking back at this now 2 and a half years on. I don't think there can be any question whatsoever that yarraside made the correct call to stop at that point in time. End of an era. Its always very interesting when these debates come up again and again in regards to colours. In or Out definitely puts people at two ends of the spectrum. But from my experiences I have seen a lot of people stay on but with significantly reduced support for the club.
  11. Imo this forum isn't quite what it used to be...
  12. just goes to show perception of media and supporters alike what about Altona's penalty shout in the second half? was it a pen or a dive??
  13. So a crazy night last night in the FFV qualifiers. South Melbourne played Altona Magic away- first time the teams had met since they were both in VPL (altona now state 1 didn't get an NPL licence). 65 mins in, south win a penalty and the lights go out... cue absolute chaos, flares ripped, thrown on pitch, fans injured and burned by flares. Apparently Preston Macedonia fans rocked up and started the trouble with SMFC supporters. Crazy night with Police and ambulances called. FWIW south went on to win 3-0 with altona finishing with 10 men.
  14. This Sidwell was a clueless cunt who ran into money issues with his wife, not a great recipe for success. Such a shame, R.I.P heart
  15. Correct. I meant more so for CFG to buy us for that ridiculous price compared to say CCM, Jets
  16. Peter Sidwell, the only A-league club owner to run his club into the ground on a shoestring budget, with substandard facilities and little to no fan engagement and still record a multi-million dollar profit. Only reason the club was attractive to buy was because of the name 'melbourne'
  17. Basically for me, the game needs a fresh look for next year. Its looking tired with the same 10 teams. Until we can get new teams, promotion/relegation etc we need in my opinion: New Logo New Graphics Marquee players Less stupid fuckups from FFA but apart from that, you can't really change much now
  18. TTIM: The FFA's website and any other club website run under FFA. (Speed of page loading) Since losing that Optus deal back in 2012, I don't know what half-assed solution they came up with, but it sucks. Not the layout, but they are soooooo slow. Takes ages to load pages and each site and just pisses me off- get into the 21st century FFA!
  19. ~ Melbourne Table Football Club at City Sqaure (Melbourne city FC's city square outside aami park) Today 5:00pm-7:00pm~ Hi guys Some of you are aware of us but we are heart/city fans who have started a table football club from the ground up and have posted here before back in January where we hosted the table football asian cup. If you are a Melbourne City forum member then you should be well aware of the "flick here for subbuteo" thread We got in contact with Melbourne City if they would like the club to be included in their fan engagement before a home game and they asked us to join them at the derby fixture. We will be setting up at city square (Gosch's Paddock) to hold a demonstration and have people experiment and play the game to see how it all works on a makeshift 3/4 board We will also be selling a few things as well as stickers which are 50 cents each. So come and say hello, We should be operating from 5:00pm to 7:00pm See you later
  20. Its only logical really, The youth league was miles below the a-league in terms of quality. The NPL is a much better league for the youth teams around the country where they are playing against mens teams, for proper points, and the notion of promotion and relegation is very real. So this shortened youth league is mainly just for teams to see how they are progressing relative to the other a-league youth programs and to trial players ahead of the NPL season. I think when you look at how many players in the a-league have actually come through the youth league, its not too many.
