  2. Hey, good questions. I must say I wonder what the likelihood of a massive project getting of the ground is, but here were my thoughts when making the post. As there have been some good questions raised and some valid points too. Again not that this would ever be the only way, this is merely my thoughts on the notion and what I had envisioned. League To play in: The reason I said something like FFV metro is because that is the earliest you could get into the system. I think a club like Heart of Melbourne would need to strive to get as high up the footballing system as possible, to ultimately the NPL or even bigger. Of course this just makes the task even more difficult but as Jimmy has said- it needs to look professional. Fan Expression vs CFG Put it this way, the club I had thought of is one that plays in red and white, has references to the heart days and has no affiliation to city/cfg/sky blue. I think that's why there is the support for such a project ultimately as the heart really meant something to quite a few people.(and maybe city not so much). Mates Catchup vs The real deal It has to be the latter if it is done. Ultimately the team would need to be respected enough to attract players and be successful, so people would need to buy into the idea that they are running the club, rather than playing in it. Ultimately such a tough thing to do, and if the passion, the risk, the will just isn't there, then life goes on (heart remains a blissful memory, never to be returned)
  3. Its not so much that I wouldn't drive it, but that I would need to feel confident with a lot of support with other key leaders to go on from here.
  4. I think you just about nail it on the head. Clearly it's an idea with good intentions , though whether people are prepared to commit their time/effort for what is a massive risk is another issue all together. I can more than understand why you wouldn't want to drive it, or anyone else for that matter, which I guess brings the question, is it actually something we, as former heart supporters are really passionate about. If yes, then you are cooking with gas. it is with this overall level of complexity involved why I suggested a very humble beginning as far as league structure is concerned. Certainly things for everyone to ponder over
  5. good expertise. I think the way I brought up the idea may not necessarily be the most appropriate though in actually creating a supporter run 'club' and therefore yes, it would require quite a bit of funding and grounds etc. Its this sort of experience and help from everyone that would assist someone if they decide to go with the idea.
  6. Just want to flag again that this is merely a proposition to see what other people's views are on this. And not to try and come across as an all knowing genius for this sort of difficult process.
  7. that makes 3 so far who have put up their hand, at least there will be some competition for spots :)...
  8. SIGNPOST: this post is merely trying to explore interest of the supporters and more to see what people's views on the club as it is today really is like. Hi all, Given the results over the last few weeks and discussions on the Melbourne city fans facebook groups, I have noted a lot of continued resentment from supporters towards cfg and the change in name colours etc. Obviously what's done is done and there is no way to change that. Supporters have moved on and a lot of people have moved with city. Though for a lot of people I have spoken to, there is a distinctly lower level of satisfaction with the team and the overall experience despite the fact that the club is performing much better on the field. For a number of supporters, the club isn't as special as it once was, with people saying they thought the Heart- who even though they lost many games, felt like a real club. This brings me to my subject of discussion. What are peoples views on the notion of a 'heart of Melbourne fc' team. Run by the supporters of the heart who are keen to have a kick around, and re-live the club they once supported so passionately. I'd imagine the team would play in ffv metro or equivalent sort of comp and see where it goes from there. The example of this overseas is FC United of Manchester: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.C._United_of_Manchester#Colours_and_badge and whilst obviously this is a very different situation with much less supporters, I don't even think the club would need to be succesfuul in rising though the vic leagues, mainly just to keep the heart alive through football. I wonder how many supporters, teens, adults would want to be apart of the project as a player in this team or as a supporter. The other example to bring up is the northern fury who picked up where the north queensland fury left off in the queensland NPL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Fury_FC Obviously it would be a major project requiring a great deal of time and effort, but I know speaking off my own experience, city games just don't get me excited like the heart did. So not looking for some sort of 'terrible idea' or 'just move on with cfg' response here, just trying to float the possibility of what could actually be a really cool project as far as Australian football is concerned. These are just my views though- and I could be one of a very small minority, but just putting it out there to see others views. Looking forward to your responses and hearing your views.
  9. last win in perth was season 2- we won 2-1 with mate duganzic scoring a late winner as we came from behind to win. That was in our 6 game winning streak- the best period in the clubs history
  10. very very interesting. Not doubting the financial reasoning to move the game- but just surprised they went with ethihad
  11. Just think its worth noting that Kisnorbo has now conceded 2 pens in 2 ffa cup games, not great composure from the team captain
  12. To be fair, that was announced at the start with the creation of the team. But good luck to her and to Simon Zappia as well
  13. fantastic signing! she was great at the World Cup
  14. Nah, its not like that. There has to be 3 member federation clubs (MFC) in the quarter finals. And with the ffa pot system, the round of 16 should look exactly like this Game 1: A-league vs A-league Game 2: A-League vs A-League Game 3: Mfc vs A-league Game 4: Mfc vs A-league Game 5: Mfc vs A-league Game 6: Mfc vs Mfc Game 7: Mfc vs Mfc Game 8: Mfc vs Mfc That means the quarters usually looks like this (assuming all a-league clubs against mbf's win) Game 1: A-league vs A-league Game 2: A-League vs A-League Game 3: Mbf vs A-League Game 4: Mbf vs Mbf Therefore Semis are most likely Game 1: A-league vs A-league Game 2: Mbf vs A-league
  15. This is why at some point im sure ill be disappointed for only coming in for season 2
  16. I have spent a little bit of time there in my travels around China. its quite a westernised city and is getting more expensive. There is actually a lot more technology and English speakers there than in Beijing (thought you may well know that) the bullet train is pretty sick and I can remember a particularly awesome noodle shop opposite the antique market. I'll fish through my booklet and see what else I got up to. ps: World Trade Center high rise (or the new taller skyscraper) is a must if possible!
  17. great memories of the heart days 4-1 win on a Friday night in the rain '7 at norwich'
  18. where are you guys seeing all the later round fixtures?
  19. obviously shattered with the result, but Japan 100% deserved to win IMO. This women's world cup has shown me that generally international female football teams are not very clinical and it takes a lot of chances to score. Prior to the corner goal Japan should have taken the lead minutes earlier with some sloppy play from the obviously knackered Matildas. That said, very proud of the girls and looking forward to seeing them in action at the 2016 olympics
  20. Imo the best merch we have had until this point us the isc kits and off field wear in season 2
  21. It's the star at the top of the page next to the search button. absolute legend, cheers
