  1. Now Andrews has goons firing rubber bullets at people who have the temerity to disagree with him. “Lucky” parliament is suspended, no annoying questions from there. Is this Victoria or Apartheid era South Africa?
  2. I’d assume they’ll start. As the only true national competition the A League has a lot more challenges than the others, but being a summer league is really paying off during border closure fever. Crowds? Perhaps in some places. Relocation of Wellington and Perth to Australian locations will again be on the agenda.
  3. It’s a bloody tough business. For every Timmy Cahill* there’s 20 Paul Reids* * Not even (what is now) NPL interest as a youth prospect ** At the AIS rated by the experts as “better than Kewell”
  4. They definitely need a kick up the arse. Lockdowns pander to this mindset. Announce an opening date, that’ll get their attention. As to social media virtue signalling I see so many people do because you got vaccinated, give me a break, get vaccinated to reduce your odds of fucking dying not for social kudos.
  5. Spot on. These authoritarian nutcases seem to think this situation can roll on for years.
  6. Looks like I lost my green line. I was too optimistic predicting another “snap opening” in August. Might have to wait till October to get that (and lockdown 7) in.
  7. We had a government organisation recommend not to use the same vaccine that effectively saved them. Go figure.
  8. My TV is heaps older than that. Pretty much what I was expecting.
  9. I assume they’ll reschedule rather than cancel. Postpone if you like. I hope out there someone is buying my green line though, it’s looking good! (Green line is coming home)
  10. Waiting on a code @malloy. ”No Pressure”
  11. Brilliant first half. Playing them off the park. Just need a goal.
  12. Very true. Kerr equalising at the death was a huge moment, as was micah’s pen save. Into the semis now, which is really the big time.
  13. Went early! Great win in the end.
  14. Sigh. Defending like school girls. Not going to win games at this level doing that.
  15. Bump. poms just equalised.
  16. One thing that annoys me is extra bureaucracy to fix things that aren’t a problem. Melbourne City doesn’t have a racism problem and therefore doesn’t need to “make changes” to fix it. Simples.
  17. Likewise never observed racism at the A League. Really the only time I can remember hearing anything like that was at a Rugby League game on the Gold Coast almost 40 years ago. It was the Gold Coast rep side vs Souths (of Brisbane) and the abuse was directed to a legend of the game playing for Souths. pretty ordinary.
  18. I reckon on balance the APL did well last year. They managed to run a truly national comp without hubs and even showed a sceptic like me that it actually was possible for Perth to play a full season without relocating to the East Coast. All this without being on premier’s speed dials. Based on that, I’m confident they’ll make a decent fist of next season.
  19. One of the problems was 3 games in heat in a week. We needed to rotate the squad but lacked the depth to do so. When we couldn’t get anything against Spain (I’m not in the “we played defensive camp”, rather we were comprehensively out played) we were in big trouble. When I look back to 2016 we’ve come a long way. Qualifying isn’t easy and we did so and won a group game. Even so we still need better players coming through, hopefully they are at a younger age.
  20. We started horrendously but improved to average after the first 20 minutes. Still making a lot of poor passes that become giveaways though. To be honest the score flatters us I think. We’ll need to improve again to get back on level terms.
  21. Game Day! whoelse has been smashing cans all day to prepare?
