  1. why would we bother speaking to the media who has a biased, anti-soccer agenda operating at present? With absolutely ZERO evidence on what happened on the weekend the opinion that it was "heart fans" was formed...and how? Because he was male? Because a blue jacket is standard issue with MHFC supporters? I have seen worse go on at the G' on boxing day, A hell of a lot worse go on at Collingwood - Carlton, Punch ons in the stands at Storm games - but thats just lads being lads, jolly on grog...thats acceptable. The incident was surely just one of many punch ons that occured on Satuday in Melbourne. But yet this incident received more media air time than a 21 year old male being stabbed to death on a Fitzroy street. Wheres the vicpol man-hunt for a knife wielding murderer in an area not far from where our pub is, where a few of us live?? Answer that Melbourne Media

  3. Yes, because it's the fans that have brought all this on. It's like everyone here has forgotten in this whole discussion that these same cockhead security where the ones that gave their Victory mates access to our storage areas and allowed them to steal our main fence banner and a whole bunch of our flags in first season. Prior to that point, there had been NO major instances of chair breaking or flare use before then. But I'm sure we brought all of the theft upon ourselves, right - with our behvaiour? ACG are unprofessional in the extreme, If it had have been the club having tens of thosuands of dollars of it's merchandise lifted from AAMI Park, I'm sure their response would have been a lot different. The contract with them should have been torn up right then and there by the club after that. People need to get into their heads that problems with ACG have been going on alot longer then just this season, and didn't just start with some broken chairs at Docklands.

  4. As has been already said, why all the navel-gazing? Peter Sidwell has dealt with all these issues. We are not going anywhere. We are Melbourne Heart and we play at AAMI Park. He leads the syndicate that has a 10-year licence to play in the A-League. The syndicate has a particular set of philosophies that it believes in, and it's comfortable with the position it is in. Yes, we want more members, bigger crowds and better crowds, but the syndicate is not going to chew up their money to achieve that at the present time. We should stick to things that we can do and not things that are outside of our control. We can make suggestions and put forward our points of view to MHFC via the Representative Group. We know that MHFC is receptive. We can try to recruit more members via the 'One Melburnian' campaign and other initiatives. We can produce a good fanzine, run a good website, produce the Heartcast etc. etc. Without dwelling on certain events this season we can work to improve the image of MHFC and of football in general. All these things are under our control, whether as an individual or as a group. IMO that is the way forward.

  5. On Insiders this week Francis Leach said MV had tried 33 players this season. You can't tell me they would all be on big money. Postecoglu basically says play my way or I'll play a hungry kid who costs me nothing. Competition for spots, financially easy, and a my way or the highway manager. I would think that even the senior players at MV would be shitting themselves to play well. No, I'm not a troll. I'm a rusted on Heart fan with an incredible sense of frustration. This game isn't rocket surgery!!

  6. I'm not sure the buying decent players argument flies anymore, Western Sydney has shown that with the right coaching, a team of pretty stock standard players can do a lot, is a matter of playing to their strengths.

  7. All booked. Cost me $76 in total because Jetstar gave me a $50 free voucher for fucking me over during Sydney away. Well in.

  8. I think you could have just said "I'm a supporter" rather than foundation member Why? We are "Foundation Members", why can't we state that fact?? Are you?

  9. "JA keeps saying that the team doesn't follow the coach's instructions when under pressure, this is a crucial responsibility for the on-field leader. " Can you imagine Ange Postecoglou or Tony Popovic saying that the team doesn't follow their instructions when under pressure? And should an individual player be so silly as to not follow their instructions I also bet you they'd damn well do something about it.

  10. Cool. Point taken. After 6, 7 or 8 more years of balancing the books and scraping into the finals every few seasons I'll make sure that I'm allowed to quote my 'foundation member' status to the dickheads that jump on board when we finally do have a trophy winning season. Should be a more glorified tag when that happens. For now, 'supporter' is fine.

  12. Does anyone think that the vandalism at Etihad two seasons in a row might just have had wee bit of an effect on how strict security will be towards Heart active support?

  13. Regardless of what is said to the media, it will be twisted negatively and cherry picked for the bits they desire for the journalists own narrative. It's a time honoured tradition. This won't be happening.

  15. On these articles, the club responded that the article is by a blogger who does not have all the facts on the club Awesome response..... This "blogger" went into a lot of detail and research and provided sound arguments and data to back up his and the wider communities thoughts. These are not only the "bloggers" thoughts on the club, but also the majority of Melbourne Heart members who have deep concerns about the long term viability (ten year license blah blah) of the club we have become a part of. This is the issue, the attitude and response is not dignified. It lacks any substance and the credibility of it doesn't even resonate with a passionate supporter like me. I want this club around in 20 - 30 years. Balancing the books is one element of making that happen. The way the club are going we won't have the support to make it. The big clubs are looking to increase memberships to figures that we could dream about in 3 years. If the club maintains what they are doing we won't improve. We will fall further behind, like it has this year.

  17. Michael Holding was commenting a cricket match when he said "there are two canals outside the ground, and he's hit that ball to the far canal". Well done Tommykins - you've hit that for six. There are soooo many teams around the world with limited budgets and poor facilities which impede player payments and the ability to attract "stars". Yet they punch above their weight. Their success can be attributed to a sound culture and strong leadership. It's early days in our history, but this is where the gold is. This is where we are failing.

  18. We all are supporters Everyone does their bit for the club, I commend you for being a foundation member , I am not saying you don't know anything . Some ppl on here have said they are or have been foundation members and they make sure everyone knows about it

  19. foundation member (won't mention it again for whatever fucking reason if some dickhead doesn't fucking like it) shall I just just call myself a fucking supporter then if that makes you happy? What do you mean 'read past those words'? Is it the 'foundation member' thing or something else I've said that annoys you? Didn't think there was any harm in saying I've been a member since day fucking dot and I was fed up with the way we played this season for most parts of it. My own opinion is that the board spend some money in the hope a player of good quality might bring more people to the games, but then again what the fuck would a foundation member like me know.

  20. As much as it seems like we are in a bad financial position.... at least we can pay wages? I think doing the hard yards in the early years will hold us in good stead for the future. Am I right in saying we are the only club that has never had FFA assistance? if this is true and it stays that way thats deffinitly a plus and something we can be proud of.

  21. Agree with your comments. I think they should throw some of that caution into the wind eventually but not at the risk of stability long term

  23. Would you rather balance the books now and ensure the future viability of the club or sacrifice long term stability in favour of possible short term results? The hyperbole about 'breaking even' being bad on this forum sometimes are amazing

  24. No longer in use, but not much beat old CarisBOG/Tony Brown's. Similar to Glenferrie in that drivers would slow down to catch a glimpse of the Footy. Also the Uni terracing or Zoo as it is now is in full view. The old man burnt a few couches and assorted house hold items there in the 70's and was pretty cool to watch a few matches with him there later on. Below are the Uni gates, first part of the stadium built and meant to mirror those of Edinburgh's premier teams stadia. Legend has it Students would apply for these positions of ticktees and would let essentially everyone in for free and the only way the RFU would make any money was from Pubs in and around the ground which they intelligently had full ownership of. EDIT - Just realised how much of a Victoria Park feel the last snap has.

  33. I think that we don't have a top 4 squad. We lost our first choice back 4, a recipe for a poor season for any club. We have key players well past their best, we've had a lot of injuries and not the quality in their backups. This was always going to be a transitional year for the club - new senior and youth coaching squads, half the senior list turned over, half the youth quad turned over. whilst the club being profitable is good from a business sense, it makes little sense at this time of the team's development from a football perspective. It'll condemn us to be the Munich1860 of Melbourne. The Board can do what they want with their money but it would help if they were up front about their plans.

  39. No offence but your last paragraph is a joke. Fans should be privileged? What? For giving their time and money to do extra to create an atmosphere? Yep, thank you club, I feel honoured. Mate the club are lucky and should feel privileged to have fans. Ok so again two incidents you said have drawn attention and yet I'm not seeing how this is associated with Yarraside. A) Chair Gate - again, how is this a Yarraside issue. The club, Etihad stadium, The Victory and Ticketmaster allowed GA into the Heart away area. How can Yarraside control people they don't know or are even a part of the supporter base? So this shouldn't be taken into account for the punishments the club are looking to dish out. The punch - Don't know this moron, not seen him before and found out today not even a Heart member. Yarraside issue? Active Area issue? How? Please explain. The move North was made because ACG security were criminally violent towards our fans. This was the initial and main point for the move. Not to chant at or have a go at the RBB. It's because the club failed to listen to countless pleas to get rid of ASG as they are deficient in their job. If the club listened and worked with fans earlier this wouldn't have happened. Before that, Yarraside were brilliant and no problems occurred.

  41. What incidents are you referring to being an Yarraside problem? Last game we had our capo thrown out for minimal and over handed force being displayed by these low IQ nitwits in ACG. When I went to reason with them and ask what happened I was pushed and sworn at and being aggressively harassed. Copped an elbow to the lip. So we decided to move. That was it. As far as I am concerned the fault of allowing the group to easily access the North end near the RBB is that of stadium management, the low IQ mob, Vic Pol and the club. Also some members of the RBB showed just as much aggression towards the minority of Yarraside members who went that end to taunt. If your talking about the broken chair incident, it's funny cause I see the core members every week and I haven't seen anyone of us banned for it. As stated numerous occasions it was Derby specials who did most of the damage. Who's fault is that? Again, I can't help but look to stadium management who decided that our active area will be GA seating. So basically anyone can come in and do whatever. How is this any fault of the Yarraside? From what I saw as I was right in the middle of it is the core group trying to start chants while the Derby specials continued to break chairs and chant different tunes. I think the club have to be very careful in how they tackle this. I know your just reporting back from the club as your on that committee thingy, but again, generalisations from my experience would say the group "Yaraside" are doing very little wrong. It's a pleasure being involved and my mates love it. Had a new guy there last week and couldn't wipe the smile off his face. He will be a Melbourne Heart active member next season. If the club want to do something, maybe they should look at a better security company, allowance for a degree of self policing and not allowing GA into an away bay. These things happen, There would be no problem. Club could do worse than getting their house in order before pinging the fans.

  44. DAB (Dortmunder Actien Brauerei) Received A 1L can and stein package as a gift this week. Thought this would be some rather average novelty drink however to my surprise this beer was much nicer than expected. Would buy again. Rate a 4/5. Wells Banana Bread Beer. This Beer exceeded my expectations. Nice English ale, The artificial Banana flavour (think the banana lollies) is surprisingly nice with the bitter taste of this beer. If you like a Bitter ale with a twist I'd highly recommend. 5/5 Young’s Double Chocolate Stout Not a Bad drop of stout. The chocolate in this doesn't come out as much as the banana in the wells beer which was a little disappointing. Can see why it's been an award winning stout before but it still left me wanting more. 3/5

  45. The investment comes via the same place it always does and will- the terrace itself via donations, fundraising, sticker/scarf sales. Although, there is a dedicated group of core individuals that work tirelessly to look after the direction and administration of the home end. This includes such things as drums, megaphones, flags, displays, tifos and direction on match day. A lot of work happens behind the scenes away from match day itself wherein these and other key chaps donate their time and efforts to making the Y-side what it is. That said, the terrace runs as an ever changing entity and relies on ALL of its members to contribute to its growth via enthusiasm, passion and economic assistance. That's why I urge people to continue to support the home end with donations and the purchase of terrace produced gear. ITS THE LIFEBLOOD OF HOME-END. I applaud all of those that give up their time and finance to ensure the terrace runs as well as it does.
