How does someone who finishes in the bottom half of a ten team league two seasons in a row get a huge promotion and pay rise?

Because it's not that simple.

A new club entering an already established competition isn't normally judged on the same criteria as the other established clubs. In the first year you put together a squad that hasn't played together before. And unless you've got more money to spend than other clubs, you're doing ok if you're competetive. Year 2 you refine your list and you want to consolidate and improve. And same again in the third season. And then you look at what the coach is putting into place to give the club the opportunity to be successful into the future - youth, culture, development of coaches . . . And then there's the variables in football you cant control like injuries. There's more important things to take into account than just ladder position.

But being close to Cruyff too.

the standard of the league looks pretty good tbh

Mexico have arguably the best youth team in world at the moment, even before taking out gold at the olympics, they were well fancied.

I've also got a feeling JVS will fuck Chivas further in the ass than their previous manager, only there for the cash and natural tan booths.

"Cruyff, who as consultant for Guadalajara recommended fellow Dutchman van't Schip as their coach, said in a club statement they needed patience to see his work bear fruit."

"We believe we can't implement our game philosophy in a day because everyone has to be a part of it, players, trainers and staff," Cruyff said.

We heard that for two seasons.

I think we're still hearing the same mantra from JA.

P.S. - you forgot to mention 'European football ethos.'

But at least JA also talked about winning the League in his first interview, and IMO is a lot more approachable to a greater range of players than JVS ever appeared to be...

IMO He has always seemed to have been a lot more friendly and approachable to fans as well...
