Eli Babalj Appreciation..

If we get him back that's great and all but I dont see this being a good thing for Eli. His head might be somewhere else this season. He would've been on cloud 9 playing for a big club in a solid league in Europe... now he has wheelie bin ice baths at la trobe to look forward to..

On the flip side if he comes back angry wanting to prove a point he could pump 15-20 goals for us.. Tadic as a SS and Eli CF is juicy.

Who knows RSB new coach might like him and willing to paid the fee, bangs 20 goals, signs for Liverpool, Carroll gets sent to Christmas island :)

Babalj

Hoffman

Mebratu - wing

Dugandzic - wing

Williams -wing

Tadic

Macallister

Garcia - mid

8 strikers for 2-3 positions.

I think Garcia, Williams and Dugandzic to play wings and the other 5 fighting for the final 2-3 spots

3 strikers are good IMO

was just thinking that.

maybe something similar to this:

--------------------Bolton-----------------

Marrone--Colosimo--Gerhardt--Behich

Dugandzic--Fred---Thompson---Garcia

----------------Tadic----------------------

----------------------Babalj---------------

Even if we swap Eli for Mac it is looking like a very nice team indeed

most of us agreed that if babalj had played one more season with us, he would've destroyed the league and possibly been top scorer.

He's obviously a player who would love to be playing at a top club in Europe, and now that he's have a taste of it, and knows that clubs are watching him, he'd be coming back wanting to prove a point and wanting to make a huge impression.

Babalj, Tadic, Garcia and Dugandzic are all players who have the potential to score 10+ goals a season, and if we simply keep Fred 100% fit and firing, we'll win the league.

Exactly - This sounds too good to be true...

If he came back the bookmakers would really have to start slashing odds because for one this would allow us to manage Fred's fitness perfectly.

If the deal falls though because of non-payment then it will be a good warning to both A-League clubs and players that just because an overseas club has a big name doesn't mean that it has big cash in the bank, so that it's not always the best thing to rush off to deal with the first club that knocks on the door.

IMO Eli wins whatever happens. So does Heart.

Duga isn't a striker and Garcia has been signed as a midfielder. I'll stick with 6 fighting for 2 spots which is quite good depth, but is the quality there?

Hoffman won't get a look in, Williams won't be used as a striker. That leaves Tadic, Balalj, McCallister and Gol Gol.

And Gol Gol will be used as a winger.

3 centre forwards.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread JA has said that his main reason for recruiting Tadic was his technical ability to be able to be switched amongst the attacking positions.

So getting Baby back will be nothing but a positive as Tadic can play as the Number 10 or even as a AW instead, Supermac will of course remain as the bench striker.

(The Bench Striker that we really needed last season.)

Of course if Eli does come back I reckon we can pencil in Hoff for the Golden Boot in the NYL, as he wont be playing a game of A League and we all know his talent against kids at a younger level.

i don't think the "if" is a big as you think, but maybe that's just me being optimistic. This situation is kind of similar to the one with Marrone at Cagliari.

I pray you are right...

Love to be singing "Dont you want to Eli..." in the Rooster Kop again. :)

Just read an article where JD all but ruled out Babaljski coming back - saying although the deal isn't done and he's still a Fart player, they have payed the first half of the transfer.

That doesn't make sense... So what happens if RSB doesn't pay the full amount.. Discount for being poor cunts?

was this before or after their coach left?

if the new coach comes in and then RS refuse to pay the other half of the transfer, in pretty sure we wouldn't accept that.

It would be better for Eli to come back as being at Red Star is not a future option IMO.

There is talk of the players not being paid properly for 8 months, the club is run by mobsters who pay off the fans and the only good thing out of it, coach Robert Prosinecki, has just left fed up with it all..

Eli is a supporter of Red Star which is what brought him there, but in reality this could be a disaster for him and has been a disaster so far for MHFC.

Told you chaps he would be playing against bordeaux ;)

Also dont see why the disappointment, we wouldnt pay 100k transfer fee (or whatever the exact figure that was left to be paid was) for any player, especially when we dont really have space in the squad for them.

A 500k transfer fee player is going to be a back up intially in any decent European team.

I disagree, given Crvena Zvezda's financial situation, thats a fairly large fee. He was signed to be a first team player.

If you look back in the thread, I posted that a few articles said that his fitness was very poor, thats why he would have been on the bench.
