Richard Porta would be amazing. As you say wouldn't occupy a VISA spot, get him on a season long loan deal with a view to a permanent deal. Imagine getting him and Charisteas up front? Would that not be too much for most teams to handle?

Also agree with the club not making any noise in the media about targets. No wonder we have small crowds and no interest FFS.

Don't think anyone at the club knows how to generate interest and fanfare, and no guys, having a fucking send off from the steps of Parliament is not what generates interest.

Too much gimmicks. Get serious. I know the club reads this website.

completely agree with this

there's no doubt we've got some of the most talented young players in the league, but now is the time to sign some big players if we really want to be serious about winning something.

Sign Porta

Sign Charisteas

Sign a hernandez/broich type player because Fred simply can't do it all by himself

Sign Madaschi (or a similar big centre back)

and watch us win the double

I'm on the Charisteas wagon,

Be great to get Madaschi back too, he kept a cool head at the worst of times, seems a more likable person than Colosimo.

Germano has been great, has a proper crack, so get bloody Mascherano ffs!

You guys do realise that the Porta rumour to Melbourne Heart was a compeltley fabricated story made up by someone on the old TWGF forums...

TBH, I don't see what the big deal is with the guy. He is probably one of the most talked about guys to have never set foot in the A-League & from what I can tell, hasn't been a half decnt footballer for probably 5 good seasons. We can do better I think.

Franny Jeffers let go by the Jets.

Byun and Brockie also seem to be departing.

Brockie wouldn't be too bad a signing if he didn't take a visa spot

Didn't perform to expectations and many of the Novocastrian faithful were calling for his head, he was never going to get an extension after the arrival of GVE. It'll be very interesting to see how well Newcastle recruit their visa players, I expect them to easily make the top six next year with a full pre season under GVE. Both Brockie and Byun aren't worth visa spots either.

Ryuji Miyazawa (Blacktown, NSWPL)

Nailed a cracker on the weekend, tertiary student, ripping it apart with another Japanese fella there at Blacktown.

Sign him, bulk him, develop him, sell him to the deutsch for millions.

so with those departues, our contracted squad for next season so far is:

Redmayne

Marrone

Hamill

Good

Behich

Colosimo

Fred

Kalmar

Thompson

Germano

Williams

Hoffman

Zahra

Babalj

Dugandzic

15 players contracted, with Srhoj likely to be given another contract making it 16. Leaves 7 spots available (assuming bolton retires) and approximately 800,000-900,000 dollars freed up in the salary cap.

Hoping colosimo moves on to give the club about 1mill to work with. It would be an even bigger bonus if western sydney comes knocking on the door for williams and hoffman

Squad looks better already. Now fuck off Colisimo and sign two defenders one an experienced CB with organisational skills someone like Madaschi and another experienced player with a bit of versatility to be able to provide cover at CB or the full back positions.Another AM as stated by many before Fred can't do it all himself. Hernandez would be fine by me. Also a striker to take the load off of Babalj who has been immense as a youngster playing the role he does.

Would love to see us line up like this next year

Redmayne

Marrone Madaschi Good Behich

Germano

Dugandzic Hernandez Fred

Christaseas Babalj

Subs:

Bolton, Zahra, Thompson, Shroj

One key midfield signing turns out mf from competitive to one of the best in the league imo. Where i have madaschi and chistaseas I more or less mean players of that ilk and any signing similiar is fine by me. Still harbour hopes of Ogenovski and Bresc coming to Heart but would surely be another season if not two away if at all.

We have the core of a championship winning side. We just need that experience to guide our talented youngsters through.

Four key signings leaves us three or four spots to fill with successful youngsters from the youth squad and leave a spot open to allow for extra flexibility with the squad come midway through the season.

agree with every thing you just said PerthHeart.

with all this money in the kitty, we need to be on the front foot much more.

not totally, but the reason fred gets injured so much might have a bit to do with the fact that he is so relied apon.

links the midfield and attack always when needed, need a 'chop out' player who is more than capable of a killer pass.

hope the top of the food chain at heart are reading what everyone has said on this forum:

if we want to have an influence on next years season, sign Madaschi the fuck up! :D

agree with perthheart. If you wanted to be even more picky i'd get rid of thompson which will free up even more space in the salary cap to sign a quality player.

Thoughts on Ali Abbas?

-Off contract

-No longer counted as a foreigner

-25 years old so still in his prime

-Left sided player and very handy

Don't rate him at all, can do stepovers but has no end product at all, wouldnt even be a good squad signing.

I don't understand everyones beef with Colosimo, he is a required player for next season 100% i reckon. Was very solid towards the back end of the season and we really missed him against Perth in the finals. The only negative thing about him is the injuries he's been copping, on ability he should definetely be with us next season.

So far my predictions for our signings/releases in the off season are spot on wooo

Think the whole class blitzed the releases mate. The litmus test into your oracle like abilities is yet to jump from the barrier, time shall tell but it's made for good reading none the less.

Really annoyed we missed out on Jake Barker Daish, he has signed with Adelaide.

I really hope though we get Halloran or one of those Gold Coast kids, they actually have some potential

think you'll see a lot of those kids end up at western sydney. Was reading an article yesterday that halloran is likely to be their first signing

It would be a pretty strange decision to start signing players before we appoint a coach. This needs to happen ASAP.

That's right, the new manager should be able to command his own transfers for the players HE wants.

Just need to get it right, while doing it as fast as possible.

I don't understand everyones beef with Colosimo,

Do they let guide dogs into AAMi park?? The guy's a hack. Terrible terrible defender. I would have sacked him after he's little hissy fit when he kicked the ball out. And his indiscretions in the box cost us points. Get rid of him

You panic buy you get losers and lose money.

It hasn't even been a week since the last match and there's no coach appointed yet. I'd be concerned if there were new player announcements.

List management discussions happen on an on going basis. You do not get to the end of the season then go and try and recruit. You would have been talking to agents all year. Players should be already committing if done right.

We basically know who the Manager is. If the club was pro active, they would announce it soon and get these signings happening. Some clubs have got the hop on us, like Adelaide with doing exactly what they and we should be doing. Improving the squad.

Adelaide had to sign any player the rest of their squad are shit. Heart management seem to have things in hand. The futsal thing is a good initiative. JD is a forward thinking bloke. I think you will find once the coach is sorted, you will find some great signings happening. Announcing the players that have been released now, shows that they are preparing early. Hope I am right.

if the club has no other intentions than to appoint AM or JA as the coach then just get it over and done with and announce it already!

let's be honest, this competition isn't THAT difficult to do well in. Perth came 10th last season and a year later, after some decent recruiting in the off season, they're sitting 3rd, qualified for the ACL next season, and would not surprise people if they made the grand final.

Is perth a much better team than us? NO. The difference is they have a couple of key players who can finish off games. We probably have some of the best 'outside' players in the league. What i mean by 'outside' players is the wingers, wing-backs and just generally players who play on the fringe of the game. What we lack is key quality players down the 'spine' of our team who will make us a championship winning side.

It's very noticeable because almost all of the goals we score, have been created from wide positions where as i can count the number of times we have scored through the middle on one hand. It is also obvious that the majority of our goals conceded have come straight through the middle. There's no doubt that we are good at exposing teams from the wings with our pacey players, but it makes us very predictable, and when we are forced to play through the middle we don't seem strong enough to really hurt teams.

Already 7 players have been released, Bolton expected to retire as well as rumours of Colosimo leaving. It definitely gives us a very handy amount of space in the salary cap to work with, as well as a decent amount of places in the squad to fill. I would HATE to think the club is going to go out and sign 8 wingers to fill the spots, when really only 4-5 spots need to be filled to make us a top side.

Criticise this all you like, but i have no doubt it will win us the double;

Signing 1: Covic (off contract, experienced keeper, arguably best in the league, will replace bolton)

Signing 2: Madaschi (best CB we've had at the club, exactly what we need, will replace colosimo)

Signing 3 :Hernandez (off contract, one of the best imports, tremendous skill/delivery/vision, dead ball specialist, true number 10)

Signing 4: Charisteas (off contract, experienced strikers, very talented, would also increase interest/crowds)

Signing 5: Ali Abbas (off contract, left sided winger, very good left foot, pacey left sided winger which we lack, would hopefully replace williams)

Starting 11

------------------Covic----------------------

Marrone--Hamill-----Madaschi----Behich

-------------------Srhoj-----------------------

Dugandzic-----Hernandez----------Fred---

------------Charisteas-------Babalj----------

Bench: Redmayne, Abbas, Germano, Thompson/Zahra
