marn11
Players should have no say in where they are traded. Yeah - These players should have a look at Baseball... I assume that was sarcastic. But for me, you can't have the option of becoming a free agent, only to also have the power to nominate a preferred club for trade, and in turn refuse a trade to another side if a better option comes up elsewhere for the team you're contracted to. Once a contracted player announces that they want to be traded, the player should not have the ability to stop a trade from happening because it is not where they want to go. Tough shit, they're attempting to escape a contract THEY signed.

Heaven forbid players actually have a say where they want to work! James Frawley should've just stayed at Melbourne and played in a shit team for the rest of his career, be loyal to a club which has always done right by him right? You get to choose where you work, why can't they? In the first two years of free agency, less than 20 percent eligible free agents have actually moved clubs. Talk about a massive number! Its almost like if you run your club correctly, players will be happy to stay What about the positives of free agency? For instance Jeremy laider was a de-listed free agent from Carlton who had played 5 games in his past two season, yet last season he played what, 16 games for Sydney? If it wasn't for free agency, where would've he been now? What i've highlighted in bold is just a completely over the top statement that people who do not understand how free agency make all the time. Can't wait to come back in a couple of years and check up on all those clubs who would've folded due to free agency!
