cadete
There is no red on the home strip, it's no longer the clubs main colour. Hence sky blue and white merchandise. Like it or not. Accept it. I do accept it, not that I like it. But the home colour is actually 95% white and not sky blue. Total misrepresentation of our home colours and a way of foisting sky blue onto the club. Exactly this. The polo should be white two blue stripes down it. They must think we're stupid if they thought the average supporter wouldn't recognize that their trying to thrust the sky blue on us. Did you not experience how very easily the new owners were able to rebrand Melbourne Heart into the new club of Melbourne City? They said nothing when the threats and protests from the "Keep Melbourne Red and White" campaign were coming thick and fast and in turn have been rewarded with more Members than Melbourne Heart had at this time last year with significant numbers of Heart Members becoming City Members. Whilst many of the more vocal "Keep Melbourne Red and White" campaigners have indeed become City fans attending Active Support Group Meetings days after the news was announced, as well as suggesting Supporter Groups Names and even Scarf Designs for the new club. No wonder Melbourne City think they can push more Sky Blue on the former Heart fans with little real backlash in the long run. Accept it. People don't have to like it or accept. They can follow the club (or not) in any way they choose. The amount of dislike is very understandable. And in particular the 70 dollar sky-blue 'supporter polo' looks very much like Sydney FC merch: Pathetic. I agree that it is beyond shit but I still do not understand how PPL could not see this coming as it was about as inevitable as England failing in the World Cup.

heartrate
Apart from the colour issue another point is $70 for a non-brand polo! Imagine the cost if that little swoosh was embroidered where the A-League logo is... $140???

AlexDaGroza
ffs its a colour. In other leagues you have loads of clubs that have the same or similar colours. Just the premier league for instance: Liverpool, man utd, arsenal, cardiff all red. Sunderland and southampton red and white Chelsea, everton, lecister all blue West ham, burnley, and aston villa maroon and blue. Could go on but at the end of the day its that clubs supporters, results and history that set them apart. Which is why the blue of chelsea is more recognized then the blue of say everton or lecister. We have the oppurtunity to become the biggest club in australia possibly even asia. I respect if you prefer the old colours but at the end of the day we are gonna get out best results playing in these new colours and i for one am just happy to see this club finally on the way up

Murfy1
If the merchandise was mainly white I'd probably be fine with it all. But it's not. Indeed, it's so sky blue and familiar to A-League watchers that Sydney FC could sue the club for copyright infringement (j/k, but not much). And it all adds to the creeping sense that the club considers the club's main colour to be sky blue, not white (and it further suggests the club will be purged of red ASAP), and that the current kits are just placeholders until the club can get the kits and colours it wants (that is, the Man City replica kits that multiple journalists reported were in the club's initial application to the FFA). So this merchandise got the response it deserved, and unfortunately the club isn't doing much to establish itself as trustworthy. Pete Heartspur
Why not just not buy this merchandise if you don't like it? If I don't get a new club scarf in my membership pack come September, and I don't like what the club has on offer (either design or price or both), I'll be doing one of two things. Either wearing my red-and-white scarf, or, even though I'm not in active, asking whether I can buy a Melburnians scarf. There are times when you have to vote with your feet and keep your wallet closed. Fuck me! $6.50 for shitty mid-strength beer? Keep 'em coming! I've settled with the fact that red won't be in our home jersey, but if our current home jersey is anything to go by then the colour white would be our home colour and not blue. So I question the club as to why they are producing blue coloured merchandise when white is the dominant colour in our club. If anything the colour sky blue is the least represented colour, even less than the colour red.
Alexxandro
White is a nothing colour. It's just a place holder till the club gets it way and goes all sky blue. schrecky
it did say its limited edition, so it could be a one off. It does annoy me that a small minority of of fans just assume thats the way its gonna be, and will fight it to the death that blue will take over. It didnt take over with the kits - they are not temporary as far as i can see. The market will decide on colors. Lets wait and see what happens with the next line of merchandise. I dare say kits will sell 10 to 1 over the $70 polo, thats the colors you will see in the stands (that and 4 years of existing red & white)

I guess I meant it in the sense that they chose white because it is the colour with the least "character". They didn't choose white the way Real Madrid chose it (I'm assuming). They chose white because it's the colour that will least detract from the small amount of sky blue they are allowed on the kit. I wonder if they tried to get an Argentina style top with sky blue and white stripes? Surely FFA would not have said no to that? [LIBBA]
A lot of people are whinging about the price I don't know if they have bought supporter apparel before but I don't think $70 for a polo is outrageous.. The colour is terrible though I don't understand why they wouldn't make a white polo our strips are white and away strips have white on them. Would be surprised if a single one of these will be purchased on the day! man city fans possibly It is about the same price as normal apparel, but that polo or hat would have to be a nike one for it to be worth that much. That polo would be better placed as best and less for $

Red or Dead
The funny thing about the club releasing those 'limited edition' FFA Cup merchandise is that they're predominantly sky blue when we're playing THE sky blue club of the A-League. So if we all jumped on board and paid too much for a non-nike sky blue polo to wear to Ballarat no one will know whether the fans are City or SFC supporters!!
