The Answer!

Its not a smokescreen, in fact its the very opposite.If it was a smoke-screen then it'd be trotted out at every available opportunity to convey the message that the club is flying. But no-one is making those assertions, even when we played well we didn't publicise these events enough. The club is acknowledge from all corners as being garbage on field, however the effort off the field is still excellent, if not league leading.

It is a fucking smoke screen. Every time someone brings up the fact that we are ridiculously unprofessional and are playing like under 12s someone will inevitably say something like "well at least we visited a few schools but we didn't tell anyone". Well judging by the reaction on Friday night I am not the only one who does not give a shit about our non publicized community work.

Oi? Whose this 'everyone?' The club has been shocking on field, and JA needs it turned around sharpish at the very latest. However my problem is with the whole 'sack the board' rubbish which floats around.

through a method of deduction i've give the answer a go:

in stating the obvious the issue of poor performance at the club has little to do with anyone outside the club since only those within the club manage the process of who gets signed, who gets played, who passes to whom, etc.  yes yes, pretty obvious.  and with a salary cap its not like we can say that another club out there is constantly spending big to get our players.

that leaves four groups; the board / management / admin team (from here on to mean board), the football department outside of the coaching (aka scouting), the coaching staff and the players.

(1) First point of deduction - the Board;

responsible for ensuring that we have enough money (check) and enough resources to operate.  can't fully comment about resources, other than to to say that if we see the Board meddling with the way we operate then all shit would break lose on the forums (and by meddling i mean constantly sacking people, hiring people aka Adelaide Utd style).  hasnt happened so chances are the Board has been okay.

of course you could say the final buck stops with the board, so that a summative assessment could be done via final league performances, etc.

the club has made the finals once and was in contention last season by Round 22 (sitting 5th) until the calamitous finish.  nothing of note happened between round 22 and round 27 from a board perspectively, simply the team fell to shit.  hardly the board's fault.

chances are the resources are there since the team wouldnt have gotten close otherwise - resources (largely check).

i do realise that players have been sold to balance the books and that its effects.  just look at the Mariners over the last three seasons.  oh wait ... :droy:

(2) Players;

last season, the Heart were well in contention up to round 22, they then fell to shit and lost 5 straight.  from watching those five games, frankly they werent any better then than they are now.  you could make the argument they might have even been worse but for the fact it all happened at the end of the season when all Heart fans were looking forward to the clean out.  its not like we can really do a clean out at the present time - we still have 21 games to play.

one interesting fact from the last five games last season is in the 15 most frequent players.  only seven remain (Redmayne, Gerhardt, Walker, Williams, Kalmar, Mebrahtu, Mitchenson).

take out Mitchenson for primarly being a youth player that backs up for seniors and we are down to six.

of those six, only Redmayne and probably one Williams or Mebrahtu are starters in the 2013/14 season. the rest are squad players this season - put out by new recruits!!!

and yet we still play shit!!!

how can anyone dump / claim all our problems on the players after (a.) playing so shit over the last 11 games and (b.) there was such upheaval inbetween seasons?!?!?!?

that tells me by deduction the players are much less responsible for this - too much coincidence for my liking.

(3) Football Department;

of course you could argue it comes down to the football department signing duds and not developing young talent.

but wait a minute.  round 22 last season we were actually in 5th and nobody what sacked, shot, etc.  and it was a similar squad to the season before where a different coach made the finals.  nothing changes and still the Heart fell apart.

yes we have injuries but who doesn't?  the club signs 23 players to cover injuries.

of course some might say the ones left uninjured are duds.  but then Murdocca won two titles with Brisbane, Wielaert has over 350 games in the Dutch top flight (a top 7 league in Europe), Mifsud has over 100 caps, Kisnorbo has captained English Championship sides, Behich and Dugandzic had shown form previously, Ramsey had played 76 times in three years for Adelaide (at 25 games a season including last season where they were largely top two / top three for most of the season).

add to that Kewell and Engelaar and we start to see decent reruitment.

and the fact that the club has been able to on sell young talent means we can at least some what produce young talent.

but if its not really any of the above zones then it must be ...

.

.

.

(4) One really shit coaching staff;

the shock and horror, right!?!?!?!

With the exlcusion of the new Dutchie, the coaching staff from the end of last season is pretty much the same.

of course its not just them.  i get it, there have been injuries.

but you play the hand you are dealt and do your best to cover.

the problem is we look shit on attack and struggle to keep clean sheets.

the players have been changed.  so it has to be the system.  the system is the coach, and most particularly the head coach!!

long deduction done, answer is Aloisi has to fuck off.

Mattyh001, good post.

We have a much better and much deeper playing list this season.

I'll put it very simply.

If Tony Popovic was our Manager would we have just 2 points after 6 games?

If Tony Popovic was our Manager would the ball would be delivered correctly to Mifsud, or would he be getting long balls lobbed up to him?

If Tony Popovic was our Manager would Behich be playing the football that had him being talked of as a potential Socceroo or the shit stuff like last week where he doesn't deserve a starting 11 position?

It looks like when you have a very nice guy in Bambi coaching who is also a Socceroo legend who kicked that penalty goal to send us to the 2006 World Cup, the Board are not prepared to dismiss Bambi, despite just 2

draws in 11 A League games PLUS losses to A League competition in pre season games, to the likely detriment of this season and to the detriment of the Club.
