Noone is expecting automatic change and amazing football. Incremental improvement is fine in some circumstances (see Ange at Roar and Victory), but Aloisi has had a year and a half and has shown no sign that he is capable of producing it. Instead, we've seen incremental deterioration. Playing poorly but snatching a couple of lucky draws isn't a strong enough sign of incremental improvement for me.

By far the most likely scenario is that he is struggling to overcome an injury, and the club are being somewhat coy about revealing all the details. The only mistakes by the club so far in relation to Harry have been signing him and making him captain.

This is pretty much how I feel about that: I think once we decided to let him manage this season, we have to allow him more than five games. I'm 95% sure Aloisi will ultimately fail, but for now he deserves a brief shot at proving us wrong, even if it does come at a cost to the club.

A lack of a-league experience doesn't matter as long as the manager fits the club's criteria. The real concern after the Aloisi appointment is what the club's criteria for a manager is, and which of them Aloisi actually ticked. Experience as a successful manager - no Strong experience as an assistant - no Strong demonstration of player development - no Recommendation from former employers - didn't JVS recommend Milicic? Demonstration of tactical knowledge - did his 'long balls until we win a throw-in' plan really impress during the interview? I actually think Aloisi deserves more than to get sacked after 5 games, but do we have a better process in place now to avoid the same mistake next time?

He did look slow, but that could just be in comparison to the rest of our attackers who all try to sprint the ball into the back of the net. Kalmar slows it down and looks to spread the play around to open gaps. Wouldn't mind seeing the Kalmar + Mauk combo again for a bit of creativity and passing.
