  1. That's what success does for a new club I suppose. We might find out someday. Small and strong will do for now.
  2. It's good for the game and all but the Wanderers crowds have to be the biggest bandwagon ever. They were getting under 10k every game, including one of 6k, before their winning streak started.
  3. Maybe we shouldn't be relying on a 35yr old has-been to save our season?
  4. 3 games with Hoffman = 1 goal from open play 1 game without Hoffman = 3 goals from open play Defensive beast. Need him back.
  5. "Remember that time we played Dugandzic as the no.10 and he tore it up" "Yeah, lets never do that again"
  6. Football gods deliver for the fans.
  7. He means that the occasional win doesn't make the style and level of our play acceptable, and it's a fair point. Too many times last year Aloisi and others spoke with too much praise about our performance after wins, when really we'd been outplayed and had just hit them on the counter a couple of times.
  8. The JVS style was more attractive in that we were actually able to control most games and there was a clear plan for moving the ball forward. It certainly wasn't all that entertaining though, especially at home where we struggled to win, score, or even create chances. This might have been largely due to the quality of the players, and at least we were able to hang our hats on trying to play a good style of football and having multiple great young talents coming through. Under JA the results, style of play, entertainment value and age of the team have all gotten worse (from a pretty low base).
  9. We keep signing injury prone players..
  10. Has been going on for a while. Sure he got beaten a few times, but he also put in a fair few successful tackles and held his own. Anyone would have a tough time at right back when the opposition have 70% possession and are targeting that wing. The real problems are elsewhere. I've defended The Hoff for a number of seasons. I can see the rest of the players improving, I can't see him as a RB. We've lost our attacking width and our right side has been targeted in 3 games out of 3 - not a coincidence. I agree with you that he wasn't the only problem today, our lack of a midfield press exposed him more than he deserved, but we won't have any width in attack with him as RB I agree. Like most people I would prefer Walker, but for what he's there for Hoff is doing a reasonable job. I just don't see the point of the constant focus on him when there are far larger problems. The problems are systemic - Hoffman is not the cause, and Harry/Mifsud/Engelaar/whoever else are not the solution.
  11. I have a feeling he will survive until Engelaar gets back because he'll be able to optimistically point to his potential to improve the team and make a charge for the finals. He may then survive to the end of the season on the basis that Engelaar didn't have enough time to gel with the other players.

  13. Terrible so far.. same as last year. No ability to retain possession.
  14. Correct decisions. We played shit longballs most of the day and didn't deserve to win.
  15. This. Thought we were pretty awful tbh. Absolutely no plan going forward whatsoever, exactly the same as last year. I just don't see how we can expect to regularly outplay teams and score goals in this way, apart from an occasional piece of magic from Kewell or pace from the wings. We're just lucky Victory played poorly and didn't create much with all their possession (and our defense did well).
