  1. Don't worry they're just buying them up to stop people from profiting off the name or similar ones. Seems a bit extreme to me but I guess when you have Billions... .
  2. Because most people are sheep and as long as their house prices go up/they can afford the latest nike trainers/porn is free then they will accept what they are told. You have a very bleak view on Australian Society. Just because people do not react to things the way that you think that they should - Does not therefore mean that they are all self serving idiots... It's true I have a bleak view of humanity in general. But expressing it on here is probably not called for so I apologise for off topic grumpiness.

  4. Hot damn. One step closer to Heart...
  5. Some good fan posters for the World Cup: https://witness.theguardian.com/assignment/5387443de4b05a3fd1ec1af6?INTCMP=mic_233195
  6. Some good stuff here: https://witness.theguardian.com/assignment/5387443de4b05a3fd1ec1af6?INTCMP=mic_233195
  7. Even if Villa does not come this year to Heart the fact that he is joining the City franchise bodes well for a guest stint at some point. Him coming this year almost seems too good to be true. I would almost feel embarrassed for the guy playing alongside some of our players... From Atletico Madrid to Heart? Wow now that's about as big a step down in league quality as any top flight player has made when they are still World Cup material for one of the top two national teams in the world.
  8. I have a good feeling about this world cup. No vuvuzela for starters... I've got the month off work and plan to turn into a massive coach potato farm. This will be the first World Cup where I pretty much watch every game. So pumped.
  9. Bresc is currently injured... my gut tells me he will struggle with fitness from here on in.
  10. Having supported heart since the beginning I'm simply gonna believe it when I see it. (But the fact it's even a possibility is pretty amazing). Imagine the exposure it would bring to the A-league for starters let alone our crowds.
  11. And see what happens once Villa stops playing. It's like a team having their super star injured for most of the season. I want us to have a team of players who have signed for the season, not paltry 10 game exhibition players. How does that develop team unity, team loyalty and cohesion? It's like a circus. Players come in and out of a team all the time due to injury so I don't see what's wrong with a ten game stint. Especially if it's Villa... If it helps you could think of him as a season player who gets injured at training after the tenth game and is ruled out for the rest of the season... Or what about ENgelaar. Imagine instead of marquee he was just here on a ten game stint at the end of the season. Would you say no?
  12. Lessons at the pub beforehand... Just realised I don't know what the fines are for throwing things onto the pitch (or organising such a thing)... so I officially retract my encouragement... DO NOT THROW PAPER PLANES ONTO THE PITCH.
  13. If we ever need to protest something at the club again I think we should use similar cards again and then turn them into paper planes that we send onto the pitch at a particular moment (full time whistle?)...
  14. The issue isn't having A COLOR that other teams do, but having a more or less identical shirt. The red shirts of Adelaide can never be confused with the red and white stripes of Heart just like the red of Liverpool and red an white stripes of Stoke don't confuse anyone. If CFG said they'll play in Argentina NT strip ie sky blue and white strips, there would be no issue. However they are not doing that. Going forward it would a cause of conflict every time the clubs did a variation on their kits with Melb City and SFC clashing over it every fricken' season. Good points. The problem is that the Man City kit is almost identical to the Sydney one (at least to a casual soccer fan).
  15. Ha! So true. Making Melbourne mini Man City by wearing an identical kit is wrong on so many levels. They should be happy to just use the name "City" to unite their brands and leave kit colours up to what's best for each unique sporting environment. And of course they can make a sky blue kit as the away kit.
  16. I was thinking about this possibility earlier, because I really can't believe CFG wouldn't have ensured with FFA that they could change the colours before buying the club. Doesn't add up. Especially since all evidence points to the club being highly confident of being able to change colours. I reckon gallop went back on his word, which is probably why the meeting was described as 'spirited' and had to be heard at some independent hearing. If this is the case they probably will take it to court. You don't go back on your word with Billionaires unless you are a complete idiot. At worst he may have said something like "there probably won't be a problem but it depends on how Sydney responds" etc.
  17. Indeed. If Melbourne were going to play in blue, and the badge was blue, it would look great (to City) lined up alongside their own badge and the blue one of NYCFC in promotional material. But it isn't. It's red and white, and as such would stick out like a sore thumb. And as soon as you start talking about red and Manchester (as many will) people instantly think United, and City will not want that, ever. That is basically the short and tall of it. This could get unbelievably messy, not just for the club, but the league itself. In promotional material city can put Heart in their Sky Blue away kit. They will play in their Sky Blue kit in the ACL etc. It's really not a branding problem.
  18. Please no. I get the feeling he doesn't gives a rat's ass about the A-League or playing here one day.
  19. Yeah Heart were not a basket case despite the owners best efforts. Just needed some people with football brains to take over. Didn't need to be City.
  20. But I thought we weren't going to have a sky blue home kit because didn't they say something about not going with the "the Cardiff solution"?
  21. More types of STD's as well. Variety is the spice of life.
  22. Really hoping to one day see a big tough Wanderers fan get hit really hard on the back of the head by a stray ball while doing the poznan...
  23. There are probably more hot chicks in that hood than in all of Melbourne.
  24. Wowee. 10 game guest stint PLEEEAAAASSSEEEEE.
