  1. http://www.a-league.com.au/article/a-little-ray-of-sunshine-for-city/5ych1gcomv8z14cxbjeaz2pu3I am amazed that the score stands if you don't complete 90 minutes. Why not abandon the game and rearrange the fixture?I know it has helped us, but this is the sort of thing the FFA needs to change. I imagine cost would be a big part of it. And it's not a common problem. I don't think it's ideal, but it's understandable.
  2. Still wouldn't sign him as a visa player next season. Very optimistic to say we can keep him injury free given our track record as well as his.
  3. He's worse since he came back though.
  4. Is 1-2 weeks ever actually 1-2 weeks? Wasn't Mate 1-2 weeks, and he's still not right really.
  5. Saw him interviewed on Foxsports Shootout tonight, he said a couple of things about how the team was playing and his role in it - seemed like he'd be happy to see some changes. Firstly he said the team was playing more counter attacking rather than possession based football (and that this was a change from the plans at the start of the season), which meant his role was not the same as at Brisbane, and he said there was a strong defensive focus in their game plans against teams, not offensive, and he hoped they started looking a bit more at offense in the future.
  6. I knew my optimism wasn't misplaced. Well done lads. We were outplayed and fortunate not to concede. Nevetheless, we didn't throw in the towel, which is what matters most. The goal was class. The tackle from Koren, the ball from Mooy and the finish from Brown. It was well-executed. We can take a lot from this. The match against Brisbane is the most important match of our campaign. I am quietly confident though. Confidence will be high in the squad. Yeah, was great to see us dig in and hold on, something that we've unfortunately not often seen.
  7. Holy shit, not sure if I'm more surprised we're in the lead or that it's Brown who scored.
  8. What is with our young players and hideous mustaches?
  9. Read somewhere he was being 'rested'. Is he actually benched or semi injured?
  10. So far, the answer is probably "no." Double urgh.
  11. Can we not find our own bloody players? Urgh.
  12. Commentators said during the match they'd spoken to J.vS during the delay and he said we were losing due to lack of mental fortitude, and then they said something along the lines of it's his job to fix it so why hasn't he yet? Same question we've been asking for months.
  13. I said this in the match thread, but if think his comments were him trying to keep to the official club line (quite possibly that he's been given some media coaching in) rather than going with his honest (likely unflattering) opinion, and he's just not good at interviews.
  14. Yeah, we led twice. Holy shit that feels good. I'm laughing but it's not far from crying.
  15. Geez, his interview was a worry though. I've got no idea what his personality was like before he came down here, but he sounded like he's had the soul beaten out of him this season. I thought he's just not very good at the media and was trying and failing to properly remember his media training instead of saying something along the lines of 'that was shit and I'm not happy'.
  16. Even by our standards this was an amazing game. What the fuck? What the actual fuck?
  17. Of course. Honestly the only surprising thing about our squad's injuries this season is that Mooy hasn't been out yet.
  18. A fan in red with a "Melburnians" scarf on, interesting. Also interesting that they seem to have retained the idea of fan songs in soundwave form as part of their branding. Harks back to 2012, when a soundwave of Blue Moon was put onto Man City's shirt. I wonder, which one of your songs is represented by that soundwave? Also interesting to see that the facilities can host 90 employees while there are currently only 35. Clearly a lot of expansion planned. Really glad you guys all are seeing some positive intent now. It's about time - just wish CFG could've shaken up the squad earlier, but (I think?) we did warn that they might try to give JVS time to prove himself in the same way they kept Mark Hughes on when many expected them to dispense with him straight away. Also interested to see that the Academy will be properly unveiled tomorrow (well, today your time, I guess). I'll be interested to read the details of that. I was really pleased to see the part about 90 employees, shows ambition.
  19. There was an article by Davutovic summarizing our injuries in the Herald Sun on the weekend. According to JVS: Duff, Garuccio and Weilart are impact injuries, Brown's is an ongoing pre-exising injury ("James Brown had this injury when he turned up, he's struggled with it for a long time"), Mate "it's both his knees so maybe it's overuse". Didn't mention Mauk and this was before Melling.
  20. I honestly don't think he'll play since it's such a short turnaround before the next game. And he went down, spoke to the physio, and then went off, which isn't a great sign. Hope I'm wrong but I expect the worst. As he walked off the field he went past and so I looked to see any limping but I could not see anything wrong. He didn't seem to be that troubled. He went straight down the race, not a good sign & especially when you think this bloke probably chews glass pre-match just as a psych up. I am assuming the worst I thought his gait looked a bit uneven as he walked past the bench but I was down the other end. Given the rest of the season I find it hard to be optimistic though.
  21. He's saying Ivan Franjic. Isn't he also injured?
  22. I honestly don't think he'll play since it's such a short turnaround before the next game. And he went down, spoke to the physio, and then went off, which isn't a great sign. Hope I'm wrong but I expect the worst.
  23. Perth had no shots on target, although I don't know if we could take all the credit for that.
