I tend to disagree because you are always going to have members that cant attend a game for a specific reason. If they reserve a block for the GA members and 30% don't turn up, then you have 1000-3000 empty seats in the home end going to waste. The GA ticketing issue is improving attendances, perhaps not member relations though. I'd love to see the stats for average attendances of members in the crowd at a home game, both derby and non-derby and see what proportion of the member base is at each game. Methinks it would be a lot lower than you'd think ie for and 8,000 crowd, I reckon 4,000 (50%) would be members etc.

Essendon were guilty, they toed the line intentionally and when you tie the line you put yourself at the mercy of luck. IMO, what was worse was their contempt upon getting caught and their belief that they could take a gangland lawyer approach and say prove it. My belief is that they knew they were guilty, but also knew there was insufficient evidence to nail them if it ever came to court, so they denied it as plausibly as they could get away with.

Just because we have rich owners doesn't mean we can just go and buy everyone. A) there is a salary cap there is only so many Australians that are good enough in the pool and c) to pry someone away from a better club you generally need to up the offer substantially, you can't do that in every position due to the salary cap so better to pick and choose the main positions etc midfield, striker
