Tesla
Tablets are surely going to severely diminish the laptop market. I'd much rather have a desktop & a tablet then having a laptop as a compromise between both. In the long run, its not that much more expensive, the upgradability of desktops make it quite cheaper than laptops and you dont need a really powerful tablet when you're just using it in situations where you need the mobility. Get on it There is always something for another $40 or $80 or $20 or whatever, have to draw the line somewhere. Makes sense to put off the SSD for a little while as they are coming down in price quite quickly, I can live without it for a bit.
Tesla
What are some resource intensive games the youngins play these days, so I can test my new computer? I remember when I used to play games and AA3 was a reasonably resource intensive game, downloaded it to test my computer since its free, full 1080p HD resolution, max settings, 150fps rofff. Tesla
Anyone else got Office 2013? Not sure if I like it, definitely a lot uglier looking program, but thats not what counts. jw1739
Anyone else picked up an e-mail virus in recent days? I have two mailboxes, one for jw1739 which I use only for football-related websites if I'm leaving a comment there or somesuch. I have AV software running all the time but recently (9/10 or so) found my jw1739 address was, in the backgound, sending out hundreds/thousands of e-mails, most of which were bouncing back into my inbox (shared by both accounts) as undeliverable. Has taken me several days to control the situation using various anti-virus programs plus in the end deleting the jw1739 mailbox. Still not sure that the virus has been killed, but at least the messages don't end up back with me. Anyone else had this problem?
malloy
use a tool called combofix it usually sorts most shit out. However it does sometimes fuck with other programs so they may need to be reinstalled e.g. Daemon tools and definately read the instructions on running the tool
Young Polak
For someone who has experience with computers I tried to start up my computer today and for some reason while it loads, it shuts itself off then 4 sec later it tries to start up again. It repeats itself until maybe the 5th try it fully loads and I can use my computer. What could be possible reasoning's for this? -Need new graphics card? I have a ATI Radeon 5870 -Something is loose inside the computer? a cable? -Problem with the motherboard? -Too hot inside? -Would I have shit software's conflicting with the computer? I'm shitting myself that this compy would fuck up every time it shuts off

Young Polak
Half way through loading, before the windows logo, around the area where you can choose the option to go into the overclocking menu And by attempted, my dad has the advanced knowledge around computers and overclocked my PC, but I'm just asking around here to sort of cut time for my dad since he has limited spare time, would help to cut down options so he wont be wasting time. malloy
Half way through loading, before the windows logo, around the area where you can choose the option to go into the overclocking menu so pre windows? sounds like hardware issue, my thoughts are possibly fried RAM, but really can't tell without seeing anything. How old is the comp, did you buy it built or did you build it? and have you changed anything recently? or have you tinkered with you comp at all since buying it? As far as I can remember, built the pc around 2010, no cheap bullshit parts mixed with decent parts. My father built it, along with a mate of his who has an IT occupation just to teach him a few things + the overclocking process, so mistakes would not have been made. malloy
So it has been overclocked? doesn't really matter if mistakes weren't made when overclocking it, as you are forcing something to operate at a higher capacity than it should. like constantly driving you car around on high revs, its gonna pack it in alot quicker than if its not overclocked

bazzatron
All hardware has a lifespan, if overclocked, ram or cpu, it will hit that lifespan sooner than expected. Often the BIOS on a motherboard will detect if the RAM or CPU is running at a rate which it deems unstable and will reboot and revert to safer settings. Possibly a combination of 2 years overclocking and this sudden warmer weather, your overclock has been come unstable. You could: a. Give the RAM and/or CPU a little more volts, this will often stabilise the hardware(to much and it will become unstable and not boot or crash after boot). b. Getting to hot, try underclocking or reverting back to standard memory and cpu frequency and stock voltages. c. Getting to hot, try cleaning out all the dust from the fans, case and remove heat sink from cpu and literally wash it, dry it thoroughly, apply new thermal paste and reseat the heat sink and fan(obviously dont wash the fan). d. Check the motherboard errors(beeps, flashing lights, lcd on mobo) and it should tell you what is failing.

Deviant
I picked up an ASUS G73sw on monday night to replace my PC. I don't need portability and i picked this up for less than what i would have spent on an upgrade. Salvaged my SSD and voila. Faster speeds all round (CPU, RAM, USB 3.0, etc.) and a 1080p screen to boot.
