  1. Overrated in my opinion. Will do well in the US as it's not much of a step up on the A-League, if at all. I can see him making it to the EPL one day (at one of the lower table clubs) but to speak of him playing for Barcelona one day is laughable.
  2. Okay while some fans have been getting excited by the last month I was dubious. Today I am finally of the opinion that this season will be different because it already is: City in their first final. Still better go end of season though...
  3. Nice! Some people have been saying that typical Heart/City would win this match and then go back to being shit. I didn't think that. There were many reasons the old Heart/City would have lost this: - it being a semi final (we've never won any of those) - we've never won two sudden death games against A-League opposition - the bubble had just burst in the game against Perth and usually it stays burst more than one game - It's a Derby where it's more about emotion and pride and Victory were hurting - We ALWAYS start the season pretty shit So for the first time in six seasons I can honestly say I have confidence this season will not be the same merry mediocre dance all over again. For starters we've made a final and that's a first.
  4. Hilarious but I think our spirits being crushed usually lasts more than one week. Just think back to the last 2 games of last season.
  5. Amazes me that people will admit that the coach is far from perfect (even that he needs to go) but still look for excuses elsewhere. The fact is that if the coach is shit it has a flow on effect. Players will feel more pressure if they don't have faith in their coach and hence might make mistakes, try and win the game on their own, or whatever. Everything besides the fact JVS should have gone years ago is picking at details that probably would not matter if there was a coach in charge by the name of JVS.
  6. Not feeling confident. Usually when Heart/City follow a decent spell of not losing they go on a non winning streak. Winning the FFA cup quarter final and then the first two games of the of the A-League was actually unprecedented. Also have we ever won two sudden death games in a row against A-League competition? I didn't expect us to win the first two games of the comp so hopefully the Perth game was just a blip. before the Perth game I was starting to #believe this season might be different and it would be nice to get back to that feeling. Lose this game and I think I'll just give up for another season.
  7. Maybe they are being more controlling because JVS is mentally weak. A stronger coach and they pull back a bit?
  8. Well that changes EVERYTHING. Merge the bastards.
  9. I reckon you need to get more cash. Other than that the FFA cup tie without question. It's at AAMI park for starters...
  10. Oh okay. I guess I just figured it was better because they seem to get marquees like Cahill, Villa etc when they are younger than when the A-League gets them (we got Villa for 3? games whereas they get him for whole seasons etc) Cahill joined Red Bulls four years ago... So they have better marquees but overall quality similar to A-League. I know if I was Mooy I'd rather live and work in NYC than Huddersfield (or even that overrated city London... )
  11. I'm not that down with world football but even if he's not Man City quality wouldn't New York City be a good comprimise between where he is now and the EPL?
  12. HAHA! The height limit said 1.95m so after I reversed out I checked the height of my van in the manual and it said 1.97m...
  13. I recently went to drive a van into a car park and it hit the height warning bar that hangs down at the entrence. For a second I thought "I bet they erred on the side of caution and the van will be fine..." A second later I thought better of that and reversed out.
  14. Ha ha! I guess it's all comparative.
  15. From the comments: "Mooy bien" Ha!
  16. Kurt Cobain was killed on Courtney Love's orders. See the film Soaked in Bleach for crazily incriminating evidence.
  17. Thank you! That makes sense. Except somehow this cup is rigged to make sure a non A-League team makes the semis which I assume is not the case with the other cups.
  18. Excuse my ignorance but surely the FFA schedule is organised before the comp starts so that winner QF4 plays winner QF2 and so on... Judging by the conspiracy talk this is not the case? If so that is more than a joke and should be looked into... or is it standard practice to decide who plays each other in a cup because of something like the A-League schedule?
  19. Whoops I mentioned politics- silly me. So.... He has quite the tan. Him and JVS should get together and talk tanning techniques. Phew... I got the thread back on topic, kind of.
  20. We've never won the first game of the season except for a Derby. You would think this would be the time.
  21. If it's not at AAMI, along with Trump probably winning the US elections, it's 100% proof the world is full of assholes.
  22. I have every faith that JVS will still find find ways to lose crucial games.
  23. I think we have the stat now of never having won either of our last two games of the regular season. Before last season I don't think we'd won any of our last four games.
  24. Ha! that was something I thought of mentioning in the game thread but thought better of... Edit: I promise to keep this thread alive all season no matter what the results on field if only out of tradition and loyalty to the Heart days.
  25. While it was a great win I was not feeling confident at 2-0. WSW were working their way back into the game and the energy of City was great but also felt a little frantic. We've all seen 4-1 scorelines before from CIty and even Heart so like I said before I will not take too much from this game- at least as far JVS goes. He will have much tougher tests than a home game to a WSW that seemed off on the night. BUT what I will take away from the game is that many players lived up to or exceeded expectations. I said beforehand that I will not judge the team and JVS on one game. Win another game in the FFA Cup against A-League opposition and I will enter the season proper with confidence. Win the FFA cup and I will be both amazed and delighted. Get well soon!
