And a couple of decent wingers

That was a brave email. I hope they’re ready.

I’m not going to burn the stands down if they re-signed Aurelio. Personally I thought he had the impossible job- take over and turn around a weak squad with no cohesion in a high expectation environment. He did ok, say 6/10. Now personally I’d prefer say Paddy or another high quality coach and think 6/10 wasn’t good enough but I also don’t know what else he had to deal with.

The Derby - Elimination Final Sunday 5PM 5/4/24
D.B. Cooper replied to Baka1's topic in Melbourne City
I understood they were decided at the time. I’m not surprised Talbot took a pen he had relatively fresh legs and is now an experienced player. I was a little surprised Leckie was subbed but he was out on his feet by then I thought and dead legs aren’t great for pens in any case. -
Really? I thought the squad (as in fit available players) was mediocre. 6th looked about right to be honest.

A link man when we have the ball and well positioned. Not a lot when we don’t have the ball. If we want to threaten for the title we”ll need a better player in this position. Perhaps that’s young Schreiber? Here’s hoping

The Derby - Elimination Final Sunday 5PM 5/4/24
D.B. Cooper replied to Baka1's topic in Melbourne City
The team played like this post. 1-0 against 10. It’s in the bag. When what we needed to do was dominate the second half, score again and put it to bed. We either didn’t want to or weren’t able to and in the end got what we deserved. Unfortunately the manner of our finals exit matched our regular season. Not good enough when it mattered. -

They both kind of looked cooked to me. That was a terrible second half. Anyway, pick up and take it to them now. Hopefully. -

Paul Izzo is the reason why this game isn’t over. Hopefully we keep up our dominance. -

Regardless I’m glad they did come back. Hopefully they stay. Well let’s see what happens. I feel we have nothing to lose and we definitely have the class to win if we play to the best of our ability. Sitting virtually on the field here so let’s hope it’s a win! -
A club legend. I wonder if the league will ever see someone score at his rate again? I doubt this club will.

I’m heart broken. Club stalwart. Heart player. His career started here but more importantly we gave him a lifeline when he seemed too injury prone for most. He repaid us in spades. He’ll leave as our most capped player reflecting his strong contribution over many years. He’s Good, he’s good, he’s really fucking good.

City Football Group (CFG) [Owner of Melbourne City]
D.B. Cooper replied to Torn Asunder's topic in Melbourne City
I hated city voice with a passion. Trying to suggest we were supporters of “the city group football clubs”’! The concept made me feel ill and I’m not supporting a club because a suit on the other side of the world said I should. Sorry but it doesn’t work like that. im glad it and “city points” went. Two less things to make me think of quitting. -
The final (insipid) Derby loss to the Tards gave them third and us sixth. No complaints but it was thin margins.
-
Yes but I now can’t get it to work

The Twitter comment was a smart arse Adelaide supporter. Because that’s what’s required for them to be in the finals. Meanwhile back in reality.

Where is everyone sitting for the final? Same seats not working for me. Is south end tards or normal people? -
Well the season proper is over. Most of our squad departed after the last one and of those left they were either injured or out of form. As such it was a complete rebuild. Eventually the players started to play as a team but it seemed take most of the season. We played brillantly at times, but were often lacklustre. We finished 6th, only 3 points behind 3rd but potentially 16 points behind first. Finals will be interesting. If we can keep Arslan and Leckie on the field we are a threat to anyone. Without one or both we’ll struggle and will need more than our fair share of luck.

The plan is they will only score on the counter so we won’t attack. fucking risky.
