After all the (warranted) shit our entire fan base has been giving the club over the last 18 months for being cheap, lacking ambition and not caring, it's about time we give them a pat on the back for showing that we want to be more than the other Melbourne soccer team and actually pulling their sleeves up and going to work to give us some relevance.

It has been annoying at times relying on the words of journalists to find out what is happening at Heart, but I don't think it could be done any other way. Munn and other individuals who comprise Heart's management were never going to say things like 'Heart are thinking about negotiating with Kewell', 'representatives from Heart are going to meet with Kewell', 'Heart and Kewell have had some disagreements about contract details', 'the deal between Heart and Kewell is two thirds complete' etc etc etc. Heart will announce to us when things are completely done and dusted, and that's probably the way things should be done. Player signings in particular are too volatile and messy to be frequently informed about, as negotiations with Kewell have clearly shown. It would be a bad look for Heart if they told us directly about too much of their recruitment activity, as things change and problems would crop up that would make Heart not look so good, because they made statements that got contradicted or whatever. I'm fairly optimistic that details about Kewell will be revealed around the time that memberships go on sale next week. I'm now starting to wonder about what other signings might be announced...

Talk about giving the people what they want. There was some demand for more information about the players Heart might recruit, and in particular information straight from the CEO or Heart's management, and this article appears. I think it's a generously informative article, but at the same it isn't too specific (for example, there are no statements like 'we'll announce that we've signed Kewell for X dollars at 12 on Tuesday!'). I'd have to say that overall Heart do a pretty good job of keeping their supporters and the public informed, and that the Football Media Association of Australia knew what it was doing when it awarded Heart with their top award two years in a row. All A-League clubs could do a little better with communication, and the Australian media in general gives football and A-League clubs short shrift, but overall Heart's pretty good with communication.

I have a feeling, like others mentioned here, that Munn and Heart HQ are not saying anything of the signings or what they have exactly done in Europe to release somewhat a surprise announcement of completing multiple signings including HK at the start of membership sales, which would be plastered in the herald sun papers and TV media etc. Good way to market themselves.

Scott Munn just told me the Kewell deal has been done for some time and that he didn't go to Europe to speak with Kewell, however he did speak a number of other potential targets. Think Prem, balls 'n all type mid.

If you were born in this country and you live in this country despite what you parents/grandparents were/are you're an Australian. People that are surprised by this obviously haven't followed Kewell's career. He is a rubbish person like his mate Lucas Neill.. The only thing the club has done wrong is to go after him in the first place.. They should now tell him to fark off.. Exposure for the club this week is one thing, but I am not sure that exposure for the sake of exposure is a good thing.. The club has come accross as having double standards in wanting to sign him in the first place and him not turning up to his signing makes us now look irrelevant. The club has always said that they would not sign a player who thinks they are bigger than the club. What Kewell did at Victory suggests exactly that. It is pure desperation to then go back on that kind of value. And in the end, even if he signs, the club is still gojng to end up looking stupid.

I pay $250 for my Swans membership and there are only 4 games in Melbourne! But i don't really think twice about it cause I just want to be a member. I'd also buy a Heart pet membership if they bring it out. It's not like my cat can come to the games (obviously!) but I'd just see it as a donation to the club.

OK! Here's one for you! This is a soviet water stadium. When people were not using it a public swimming pool, they could catch some competitive wind surfing which was apparently pretty exotic at the time. I have not been able to find much info on it so I dont know what year it was built or abandoned, but pretty cool none the less!
