  1. HeartFC give the guy some time. It's not like he's JA and has had a year and a half!
  2. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/nov/15/a-league-what-to-look-out-for-this-weekend "Heart attack During the half-time break at last week’s match fans were treated, if that’s the right word, to a Heart v Wanderers computer game played by two young men in the guts of the stadium and projected onto the big screen. The Wanderers (well, the bloke playing the Wanderers) won the match on penalties but the home crowd at least had the opportunity to do what they’ve only had two opportunities to do all season, and that’s cheer a few Heart goals. And cheer they did, good-naturedly. Sadly for them, they were the only Heart goals they’d see that day. Considering that the 1-0 loss locked the Heart into last place on the ladder it may surprise some that the mood inside AAMI Park wasn’t imbued with despondency, anger or bitterness. You could argue that’s because the fans have low expectations, or that’s it’s hard to read the collective mood of a crowd when it’s on the small side and widely dispersed around a stadium. Then again, you could equally argue the fans at least recognised their team put in a decent shift against last year’s premiers and that their effort couldn’t be faulted (it’s barely been mentioned, but the Heart have this season played both of last year’s grand finalists, plus leading lights like the Victory, the Roar, and Glory away – a tough opening five matches in anyone’s estimation). Furthermore, chances, plenty of them, are being created, they’re just not finding the back of the net. That’s a pretty big ‘just’, admittedly, but it does explain John Aloisi’s insistence that all is not lost. But if his optimism is to be maintained someone will need to step up, and step up soon. Perhaps Sydney’s fragile defence may help spark the Heart attack."
  3. I don't know if that's the case with Heart management but I do hope they are looking for a suitable replacement.
  4. What worries me is that the bar is set so low at the moment that any movement up the ladder will be enough to secure JA's spot. Let's say we start winning here and there and end the season in sixth. Maybe we lose the first final we play in or even manage one win. So JA gets to coach again the following season and maybe Heart come sixth again... or maybe fifth (yay!) or ninth. You see what I'm saying? Now that we are so accepting of mediocrity (it's been over three years of it remember) Heart only need to make the finals and it will be considered a massive success by many. Even if Heart improves a bit over the next couple of months I still want him gone. I don't believe in him and I doubt the players do. Waiting for him to suddenly become a skilled coach is like a wife waiting for her abusive husband to stop hitting her. It's stupid, people don't change, or at least VERY rarely. And for them to change, something drastic usually needs to happen. JA needs to go coach in some backwater of Scotland for a few years or kayak down the Amazon. End rant.
  5. How about after a whole season, two pre-seasons and five games?
  6. Seriously Peter, put your concerns to the club - fans@melbourneheartfc.com.au There's an FRG meeting tonight discussing how to grow memberships. The group can't do anything about the inadequacies of the present set-up unless there are some complaints on the table. I put my e-mail in yesterday. Thanks JW. I wrote one last night at around the same time I posted the dribble you have quoted here. The main body of the letter was this: I am writing to voice my displeasure with the fact that I have had to spend an extra half an hour to enter ticket codes, choose seats and enter other details and pay $20.35 to purchase tickets normally included in our membership. With two derbies this is in effect close to a 10% increase on the advertised GA membership cost, and it is an absolute nuisance. It would be better to have designated seats come with the GA memberships at the start of the season. These could be for all games or just all ticket games such as derbies and finals. Perhaps GA members could select their seats when paying for their memberships like everyone else and avoid this nonsense with having to deal with Ticketek. The club could then have a ticket buy back like Western Sydney have done, ensuring that Heart have the maximum crowds at our bumper games. The ticket buy back idea appeals. Why is it our supporters are penalised for coming to the derby whilst WSW supporters are looked after by their club? Why do we have GA anyway? Why not just have cheaper seats at the ends? Oh God I hope they don't get rid of GA. Not having to sit near the same people every week is awesome. When I used to have reserved seating I'd get stuck near some idiot providing match commentary the whole game, every game.
  7. The annoying thing is he should not be getting another chance and I fear the time a win in the next two weeks will buy him
  8. Yes but we can't afford a good coach at the moment because we don't have the money. Say who? And a good coach is not necessarily expensive. I can't imagine Mike Mulvey is on much at Brisbane.
  9. I will stop supporting Heart if we get overseas owners of the Russian "stealing oil from the people" kind. I wont however nail my scrotum to the pavement like this protester: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/11/artist-nails-testicles-red-square-pyotr-pavlensky
  10. We just need a new coach not new owners. Sheesh.
  11. I said about a month after Garcia hadn't re-signed that the club should move on. He was given way too much time to make a decision. This club lacks balls. edit: "resigned" to "re-signed"
  12. Now that is football writing I enjoy reading. No bullshit.
  13. I love the football writing in The Guardian: " Who’s feeling lucky? It was widely opined that strugglers Melbourne Heart were a little unlucky last weekend for taking it to Brisbane away from home, fashioning chances, yet still coming away 3-0 losers. But how much did luck, or an absence of it, have to do with the loss? Was it just bad luck that caused the Heart to get only three of their 14 shots on target (whereas Brisbane managed seven of 11), or allowed Henrique to cushion Luke Brattan’s cute cross on his chest, fire the ball home for Roar’s first, then pen a letter, longhand, to his great aunt in Sao Paulo, before finally being sighted by the Heart defenders? As encouraging as he was about his team’s performance (taking positive thinking to a whole new level, Heart coach John Aloisi said he was “really happy with the boys”) Aloisi will know his team lost because they wasted good field position and scoring chances and failed to shut down the Roar’s midfield. Now they have to deal with a Wanderers team exuding confidence and menace, and buoyed by the return of talisman Youssouf Hersi on the right flank. The Heart, meantime, will again be without central defender Patrick Kisnorbo, whose absence was telling against the Roar. They’ll also have to do without Harry Kewell who’s so adept at getting injured he didn’t even have to wait until his next match to do it. But all is not lost for the Heart. They’re at home. Considering their away record they can count themselves lucky." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/nov/08/a-league-what-to-look-out-for-this-weekend
  14. Yeah I was just about to say can we leave the "thought we outplayed them", "we were unlucky", "JA made good subs" etc bullshit out of this thread...
  15. Wow, JA made half decent subs. Seriously, JA has set the standard of coaching so low that when he does something any half decent coach would do it's seen as some big plus. I mean Jesus H Christ at this rate of improvement Heart will be a half decent team in about 20 years under him.
  16. I wonder how much money has been lost betting on Heart over the years?
  17. Why? Maybe if Heart had started the season well and were sitting in the top four...
  18. So that's JA's plan! Play crap football so that the fans have nicer toilets to go to.
  19. We have been losing, it'll be wet, it's a friday night fixture and it's on free to air. Shit crowd here we come!
  20. What about the "private matters cleared up" quote. That makes it pretty obvious that there is something not quite right.
  21. In before someone says... "I put a cheeky 20 on Heart to win this!" "I have a feeling we might pinch this" "It's now or never" "If JA selects Hoffman I'm going to set fire to my membership card" "WSW are hit by injuries. If Heart don't win JA needs to go." "Walker provides more than Hoffman and must start." "We need a "JA out" banner." "I honestly hope we lose because JA needs to go," etc
