I think we need to look outside the pool of players that played well in the 06 World Cup This is Bresciano we're talking about. He is a socceroos superstar, only 33, and would be a goal scoring midfield general for us. He will also be good for publicity, people know him, he will get fans through the gate. Only positives coming out of his signing, if it happens.

I don't expect he'd be too open on twitter with what he's doing, but clearly he is keeping his options open and is prepared to look elsewhere. I'd personally prefer him to stay, he took most honours last season and we're not really in a position for our best player to bail out. Still, only want him if he is committed to us.

Regardless on what money he is on, he is a taking up a position in the squad we could give to a youth league player You may well attend all youth games and have an intimate knowledge of all players. I don't, but my assumption is that the club thinks the hoff offers more than they can at this stage. It's about balancing the 20 odd spots for the first team squad isn't it? I'm sure they will use a couple of spots we have left to promote some youth, when they are sure they are the right players to fit the team.

We really have to try and stay positive at this point. This seasons been extremely poor, noone can argue that. But a lot of things are at play here, scouting, player budget, frequency of injuries (I.e. clubs approach to fitness), player sales, etc. We will likely have JA next season, and probably the one after, but if the club fixes the other areas and gets proper support for JA then there is no reason why we can't improve.

What if we have identified targets, right thoughout the first three seasons, but the board has been unwilling to sanction sufficient wage budget to attract the players? I'm fairly confident we don't spend our full salary cap because we're aiming to break even. This issue was made public with Flores from memory, but how many more may there have been? Just saying that it may not be JA or JDs fault if the board doesn't back them up. Therefore we're left with the cheaper options: Hoffman, Germano, Walker, Vrankovich, Mitchinson, Garruchio, etc to pad out the team. Some work out, some don't.

Think he's signed for another year isn't he? Be very surprised if he left before then. I think JA handled it well by dropping him. Would have been worse if he rewarded his behaviour. I agree, the time off seems to have encouraged him to step up his game. If that worked then we should give JA some credit, he sure as hell doesn't get much around here.

Second last home game Babalj was on the bench and could barely be arsed getting off the bench to warm up. When Fred finally encouraged him to get up he did a half arsed warm up. I was pissed off watching him, at a time when we need the team to be pulling together and pushing to win. His attitude that game was reported in a herald sun article, quite fairly. The last home game he was dropped from the squad for his poor attitude, the right decision to my mind. If he's not going to show the right attitude then i have no problem with him being left out.

Disappointing night out. Can't understand Patrick being left out. He's just about been our player of the season - I trust it was a decision driven by an injury of some sort. Looking to next season now, hoping for some significant transformation in the squad. Not so sure we'll get it, but hoping.
