I'll own that I have been proven wrong. Paddy seems to have gotten it together. Goal difference is generally a decent proxy for the best side and we have looked it at times in the last 6 weeks. Touchwood it continues. I should note too that the kids are all right.

Patrick Kisnorbo - most swol manager in the league
wombegongal replied to Jimmy's topic in Melbourne City
I agree the salary cap jigsaw is certainly similar but a sport that has 50 odd players on a list with 25 in a match day squad (with very little means for seasonal turnover) compared to a league with squads of 25 and 16 in matchday with the ability to turn over substantial amounts of players in the offseason (if required) certainly have some differences. We were left in a pretty decent spot from last year and the biggest change is in the box. Granted injuries and all that but I just don't have faith (based on his past performance) that this guy can cut the mustard. -

The main difference in the AFL is its a draft system without true free agency. So developing a list is probably the most important skill. This takes time and I think suggesting that the coach wasn't a decent coach to start with isn't always fair. Given list sizes and recruitment, it takes longer to setup a championship window. In the a league you can turn over half your list and sign who you want (within the cap). I think out list is pretty competitive (based on last season) but I'm seeing the Lampard Chelsea developing at the moment. We look naïve and rudderless and getting the hairdryer out at halftime won't change that. A tactically competent manager will. Again I would point at Stajic currently but also Joe Montemurro who we let go (granted it was for an amazing role) but it seems to me we have missed the boat on picking competent managers. In reply to Jovan too. I'm not sure when you pull the pin I guess it isn't a science. But like many others I see a guy out of his depth and it concerns me. -

I'm normally one of those optimists. Coaches need time but they need to display what will come with time and how they will get there. Based on SWOL's recent games and the women's team I believe he is not capable of bringing together a coherent football team. Sack him now and get someone competent. Alan Stajic (spelling) has shown with decent coaching even donkeys can win games. -
Well played

Bingo. @HeartFc I would also note with a laugh that you seem to have stereotyped me, the blm movement and this woman in a couple of sweeping statements. It seems you are employing the exact identity politics you think you are rebelling against. Anyways that's it from me, all I'm asking is keep it civil and constructive.

Look at the risk of being slapped down as a super leftie SJW white knight ........ I'm just going to put it out there that your post came across as if its written by a sexist 13 year old kid. Whilst I think there are valid points to be made you could maybe improve the way in which you make them. Anyway I'm not up for a fight on the internet or real life just something you might consider reflecting on.

I share your concern. The Karen crew are really an issue. Perhaps March April seems like a bigger issue though and a bubble might have to happen again. Who really knows.

I basically agree with the sentiment around Wales, shows the odd sign and has been taking up good positions but just no composure or end product.

We need Noone and Megan Rapinoe to switch flanks. They are more than happy to give Wales time and space and he just can't do anything with it. -

America looks like it is about to go to shit. New York has thousands of infections and people still on the streets hanging out ala our bondi moment. Wait until this gets into crowded areas in South America and places like India where lock downs are virtually impossible. The key is ICU's to patients as soon as you get over run the death rate sky rockets and you see scenes like Italy where over 65's are basically left to die. Absolutely tragic scenes hopefully Morrison starts listening to Andrews and Sutton who seem to be the only sensible people in the room in the Premier/ PM meetings.

Yep right on. I watched last night but the feeling is somewhat hollow. What is coming will be brutal.

I agree with all you have said there. The issue I'm pointing to is developing and retaining good young players with how the league is structured. Take for example Central Coast who bring through plenty of players that simply get poached by other 'bigger' clubs. On top of that the best talent (ie Arzani) go overseas ASAP (fair enogh tbh). These are the challenges of that type of approach.

I often think City should be run like OL in France. Bring in our youth and only exceptional players from outside our system. Unfortunately the A-league doesn't set up incentives to develop youth.

TBH I'm not sure I'd trust much that he said. It might be true but we would be as bad or worse than the Marinators. -

Look I'm no Joyce fan but fuck me if this isn't the most pessimistic forum. We have won 3 on the trot. I actually thought we were the better side for much closer to 70 minutes. The last 20 mins we looked deadset average. If Wales was a little more composed we would have won that at least 3 - 0. For all the ribbing he is getting I thought wales had a good game outside of his finishing. He is certainly getting into good spots. Our combinations to get forward seemed much slicker than previously. I think the players (and coach) actually deserve some credit for making roar look average for most of the match. I find the Fornaroli thing strange, I saw him walking into the stadium he gave me a smile. I agree with BT on this we don't have all the facts and should let this play out as annoying as it is. End of the day we got the result and are equal second. The doom and gloom on this forum is actually killing me to the point I check it less than I used too.- 157 replies

Interesting discussion. I'm also perplexed by somethings the club has done but recognise I'm not privy to the decision making process. Remember with any player in the A-league it's a production verses salary discussion. I don't think anyone can argue that Kilkenny wasn't an excellent player for us, but, was he worth the coin he was on? Personally I have no idea. I'm also confused by people who in the past wanted the club to freeze players out for x, y or z (depending who they liked and didn't). Now the club is doing this and they are poor man managers. Seems to me you are damned if you do.... Finally and I'm really not sure I need to say this but I will. Skin-fold's are much more to do with diet than exercise. I'm sure estimates vary but my mate with the sports science degree says 80-90 percent diet with 10-20 percent exercise, my PT mate says the same. So maybe Bruno's skin folds are shit house (or it could be a cover story) but blaming skin folds on the club is pretty laughable. You don't need to run and play to keep fit and stay thin. And as a paid (in this case well paid) player you have a professional obligation to stay in shape even through injury periods.
