  3. Hi folks, haven't been on the forum in a while so sorry if there is a thread dedicated to this topic already. Searched around for a bit and couldn't find one, so thought I'd just leave this here. I sent this email to the club in response to their request for feedback on the club songs for this season. I presume there are some similar opinions from people on here?

  5. Finally the new season is here. Thought it might be good to talk about how the pre-season has gone. Outs: Fred Collossimo Coyne Meeuwis Thompson Tadic Babalj Edwards Ins: Mifsud Miglorini Kisnorbo Engelaar (Not until 2014) Murdocca Ramsay Velaphi Kewell Wielaert Behich I think the quality of our squad this season is much much better than last season. Although Engelaar is a blow and hopefully will come good in 2014 I’m optimistic about this year. Providing JA can have a good year. We seem to have an older side but I think thats understandable for JA to go down that route. He is a very inexperienced coach so you can see why he would want experienced players as he is still struggling to communicate well he would hope that the older players might understand a little easier and could help with translating that to the younger group. I think this academy providing it gets up, could be a great success for the club and lead to funding for better facilities from private and public sources. We may have a good chance with getting public funding now, as the club could point to this as well as all the other community based initiatives and say look, see what we are doing here? Here is a direct community benefit etc etc. As opposed to WSW whom seem to get an upgrade for just being in western Sydney. I was a little worried last week that the off field situation with more coaching staff etc wasn’t going to have as big of a change as we would have hoped, with JVS only being part time and focused on the academy but with the new assistant starting with a good pedigree the club has really done an amazing job off and on the field this year. Also glad to hear that the youth team is still training with the senior squad we even have a strong youth team this year as well. I watched that fox sports preview for Heart and they did make one good point, with such wholesale player changes we may not find any rhythm at the start of the season, with all the players getting used to one another, our preseason form hasn’t been great (but that nothing new). I think JA's inexperience will amplify that, but we will probably come good as we go along, a bit like WSW last season. Well thats what Im hoping

  13. Didn't Gol Gol score starting against WSW while the rest of our team crumbled, as well as hitting the bar on a FK last Etihad derby, as well the FK against Wellington, just don't think we can look past Gol Gol for scoring Exactly His presence also made the side last year (And JA said this himself) about three times more dangerous from Corners as well as Freekicks. Golgol is cleary faster and a better shot than Williams - His the logical choice for CF come saturday night with Misfud being absent. by all means, Golgol could start and that would be okay by me. Golgol has been good in the past. and TBH you're quite right about how good Golgol is on set pieces - something i didnt originally consider. at the same time, Williams is one of the best Heart players for switching the play - think of how many times you've seen Williams pick the ball up in our own half and hit an accuate 50 metre diagonal / horizontal ball. with all that Williams does wrong perhaps it's one of those skills that goes unseen / not noticed but Williams does it well. as such, Williams might be good for playing the front man in the counter system Aloisi has played all preseason. admittedly Williams has his flaws; his inability to be consistent is quite frustraiting. so eitherway would be okay.

  15. Given we've got two high quality wingers (In Duganzic and Ramsay) who are natural at that position, it seems a shame to try to replace them with a converted striker.

  18. Who else was in the line up besides Hoffman © ? In the sun they predictated that we were going to play a 4-2-3-1 looking like this: Mebrahtu Williams--- Kewell--------Mate Gerdhart-------Migilorini Behich-----Wielart-------Kisnorbo-------Hoffman Pretty accurate imo, Wielart would be one i would question, hasn't played any pre-season games and has only come back from an injury in the past couple of weeks. Maybe be better having him come off the bench? I agree, it looks pretty accurate. I've got a feeling Wielaert will start, as the club stressed that he would begin full training on Monday (that is, sept 30), and Aloisi's also said that Wielaert will be 'ready to go' for the derby and that he's 'naturally very fit' (whatever that means). I'd rather have Ramsay over Williams at LW, because Ramsay has looked sharper in pre-season. I'm really not sure who our 2 best defensive midfielders are at the moment. I think if we want to keep possession, we should have Murdocca and Migliorini IMO (which unfortunately benches Gerhardt, because he hasn't been great on the ball in pre-season). Whereas if we want to defend and disrupt our opponent's possession, which could very well be the plan for this derby (like it was for the first derby of last season), then I think we should have Gerhardt and Murdocca. Also Walker over Hoffman, no explanation needed. Pretty sure it means he will be ready, as in he is naturally very fit so when he gets back to training it wont take long for him to catch up to the required fitness. Id say he is a certain starter for this week. All the murmurings ive heard from JA seems to suggest Migliorni might be a little underdone fitness wise so id suspect Gerhardt to start over Migliorini. I think that although Gerhardt cant pass well he adds a physicality and pressure which is how we won the first derby last year, so could do wonders for us this week.

  20. When my wife stays home with the little one, I will bring the two older boys down and stand with you. Last season when a fair proportion of bay 17 went to make relations at the north end, my eldest said "we should go down there dad". So down the thee of us went and stood on the non-slip sticky malt and chanted with those left in the bay. It is good to give the young ones a bit of space to be "active". Only question is though, is there plenty of room to put the hamper?
    1 point
  21. Been there done that Zamora. There's no problem in getting mates in there, but it's just all the families and oldies that sit there. The active people in 16 and 18 stand closer to yarraside only 6 seats in, then the rest of bay just sit and complain. That's the issue with having the bays full man. But I hear your point

  22. I think our line up will be (do excuse me for what appears to be a raffle for RB unfortunately) Williams Ramsay--- Kewell--------Mate Gerdhart-------Murdocca Behich-----Wielart-------Kisnorbo-------Walker Substitutions to be made Mebrahtu > Mate Migliorini > Gerhardt Vranks > Rob A few things: 1. Williams was played as a striker in the match against Adelaide, and I believe he will be able to give us our best physical presence up front. 2. Doubt that Mate will play 90 so expect either Gol Gol to sub on (or off) for him at right wing 3. Wielaert is coming back from an injury and there's no point risking him for 90 when we've got Vranks in the wings who is a solid replacement 4. Murdocca is the workhorse of the team and a lot of our play will be generate off of his boot and that's why I think we'll see Gerhardt, who's new to this role in Melbourne colours, be replace by Migliorini after about an hour to get some match fitness and experience of big pressure game into the Italian 5. Ramsay has to start LW, he's got pace to burn and he knows how to play in big games against Victory more than most Prediction? Tough to say, because I'm not sure how many goals this line up has. Having said that, I believe it's a better line up than this time last year. With Mifsud missing and the Visitors missing Milligan and Kosta, I'll says a 1-2 win. We get up for the derbies like a 13 year old boy for the K-mart lingerie catalogue. Bring it home lads. Also, march?

  23. I thought it was pretty funny at the later Etihad derby last year when they played Stand by Me over the PA and nobody sang it. Anyway, I love So Happy Together, and it is one of those things where we are trying to build a culture around the club. Heart Hq can't just change these things whenever they feel like it, especially when we worked so hard to get Sht played pre-game in the first place. The only criticism I have is that it goes on for too long, the first time it played it was perfect, when I watched the game again it sounded great when the volume went down and all you could hear was Yarraside still singing it.

  27. Fuck me, Aloisi has absolutely 0 excuses this season. They club's given him everything he could ask for; 3 world class assistants + Hayden Foxe, Improvement on Backroom staff too, A very, very strong squad, by far the best we've had, with virtually 3 marquee players, Sent him to England to finish his FIFA pro licence, They sent him on an educational trip to Italy, Spain and The UK, Brought over reps and coaches from AZ Alkmaar, And the very best fans!

  34. You're certainly an optimist aren't you! Half realist / half optimist!! The big home crowd in Rd 2 is achievable if we beat the Visitards...plus, there's more hype this year. The big home crowd in Rd 5 is achievable because it's against WSW and Mifsud's first home game! Plus if we beat CCM in Rd 2 at home then that will give more supporters confidence of another home win in the "Big Red" so more of us will turn up!

  36. Alarm bells ringing for me reading this. One of the few highlights last year was watching Walker develop and take the game and opposition players on. The rawness and youthful enthusiasm was a shining light contrasted to the shit served up by some of the experienced "professionals" he was playing with. At least someone was having a crack. If Hoff starts it will be a retrograde step to our image (and results!!). Let's not reward mediocrity again - I thought we were over that shit. And the players having a clearer picture this year of what JA wants!?!?!? How long does it take to articulate and implement a system?? Either the players aren't listening, the coach can't articulate the system, or the coach isn't ruthless enough to demand the team play his way or there are consequences. - either option is not great. God knows we had enough examples last year of how not to play. Could you imagine any professional footballer saying this with a ruthless coach - they'd be strung up for it!! It implies the message hasn't sunk in.

  37. ...makes perfect sense to freeze out Walker, a young kid with geniune potential and raw talent who was one of our shining lights last year (remeber him taking it to ADP and directing Garcia during a game) to turn the Hoff into our No 1 RB. Good job JA. Definitely a move that aligns with the founding ethos of the club and will certainly send the right type of message to all supporters

  45. Who did you support before Heart? In the NSL days was a big fan of South Melbourne, especially when Trimmers, Micky P and Wadey were in the team, although I lived 10 minutes from Falcons Park and don't have any greek ancestory. When the A-League began was preferential towards CCM, mainly due to the fact Hutch was playing for them and they played some attacking football. Why did you start supporting Heart? Seemed logical to get onboard the A-League when MH were announced, the philosophy seemed good and they actually gave a shit about getting out to the regional areas to spread the brand. Instead of sending bench players from the Womens & Youth teams like Victory seemed to do If you didn't support Victory, why? Went to a few games with mates and didn't really get into it, seemed to always be stuck amongst fucktard supporters at everygame: <Hernandez misses a shot> "Fuk bro, dat kunt iz shit, my cousin coulda been heaps sicker player than him, cept he did hiz knee, Hernandez is a fat kunt, get him off da park. <5 minutes later, Hernandez scores> "I told you he was a sikk kunt, fuckin best playa ever in Austraya" Chanting "Fuck off Sydney" against CCM pretty much topped it off for me.
