LR9
Australia talisman Tim Cahill opened the door to a spell in the A-League when he said he would decide in the next month whether to seek a loan, now his Major Soccer League season has ended. "I play my last game on Tuesday, go back to New York, chill with my family, go on holiday and then decide," Cahill told reporters in Sydney on Saturday."It's something that probably won't come up until mid-December. "It all depends if I want to and if it works for my body - the plan has to be for the World Cup, not really for me personally." Cahill will front for Australia against Costa Rica on Tuesday night before the 2014 MLS season kicks off next March. Barring injury, the 33-year-old is assured of a spot in Australia's squad for the World Cup in Brazil starting next June. Cahill said the A-League was a viable option for any move, on loan, from his New York Red Bulls. "First of all, the league is more than strong enough," he said. "What we have built in the years past is something to be very proud of. "For me personally, playing in the MLS suits me and the international team better. "The four weeks to six weeks that I have off to do a rehab and reconditioning on all the little injuries and niggles ... seeing whether I can get my body right to go on loan. "And if not, I'm ready to ... move onwards and upwards with the New York Red Bulls." Cahill said the Costa Rica game was a chance for the Socceroos to forge a new identity under coach Ange Postecoglou, but was uncertain whether he would replace Lucas Neill as captain. "It has got nothing to do with me, I have never once brought it up," he said of the captaincy. "For me as a footballer, the most important thing is to concentrate on my football. "I'm relaxed. There is no pressure on me. "Whatever the manager chooses to do, whoever leads their country is going to do a great job and we have got some great leaders in this team. "It's a privilege to have your name in the mix but overall, it's not for me to pick a captain now or even make an opinion on it." Cahill said the leadership speculation was not disruptive. "I'm not distracted - what am I going to be distracted about?," he said. "It's a privilege but then again, it has never come out of my mouth. "I suppose it's a distraction to whoever it bothers, but it doesn't bother me." http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1173571/A-League-loan-stint-on-Cahill-s-radarYes please? belaguttman
He'd be mad to sign for us, firstly he'd never score again, then he would get injured like all our other >30s players. At least he'd reach those high balls into the box
theresonlyonebzamora
Sydney will definitely find a way. 'Guest player"

Heart_fan
He wont play in the HAL. Its a nice bit of diplomacy. And even if he did, one of the Sydney clubs would definately be his first choice. No point dreaming of him being our saviousr. Our issues are deeper than that

Nate
Timmy Cahill is exactly the sort of player we need, but I probably wouldn't be for a loan move. If he wants to sign permanently, then great but otherwise a 10 game stint or however long he's got during the MLS off-season isn't going to help us as a club in the long-term. As others have said though, his preference would probably be in Sydney (where neither club really need him).
Cinnamon
Sydney will definitely find a way. 'Guest player" Mcflynn will cop a knee and they'll wheel Timmy out as an injury replacement
alexiano
Just seen Cahill tweeting about WSW supporters and how amazing they are for chanting for 90 in the rain.. whoopy do. No other club does that . Looks likely he'll end up at WSW. A very proud supporter apparently.
