On this showing, I'd be building our future around the best of these youngsters. Bring in some talent and experience from outside, sure, but build on the talent and enthusiasm that's there already. Let's hope we are. On the rest of the pitch we can make do and mend, but we're stuffed in defence. It's the one place on the park we could really use an extra body. With Chapman gone surely we could think about a contract until the end of the season?

I'd just like a club which under promises and over delivers, and goes about its business with more respect for its fans and its history. And reminds its players that we work to a higher standard, on and off the pitch, than our noisy neighbours.

Perversely, because there really is nothing to lose, I feel more positive about this than I might with fewer suspensions. Tend to agree. We looked better but still coughed at the death. Then the whole thing gets hijacked by disciplinary events in the last five. Dumb indiscipline and lack of focus which hardly helps our plight.
