  1. As much as I'd love to agree we cannot purely rely on current stars of the league like Mooy & Fornarolli to purely grow the clubs reputation, get bums on seats and bring in new fans. We seen what an impact the signing of Villa initially made on our memberships and attendances. The marquee spots give the City the opportunity to fled a bit of their finical powers and bring in a big name player. I really want to see us bring in a big named reputable player but I also want them to be able to significantly improve our team. Tim no doubt ticks off the reputation box, I just don't know if Tim will be able to compliment Bruno.
  2. I think Elder is a great shout, even if it's on a loan deal. Personally I can see Elrich signing and playing out of position at LB.
  3. If the A League just allowed A League clubs to use a transfer fee to purchase players from fellow clubs we wouldn't even have this issue. It would've seen the whole David Carney saga have a fair outcome.
  4. Right now he's got a year left on his contract before it's up and I can guarantee you not one player would leave the club because he left!
  5. Marrone and Babalj joined them after failed overseas moves, we released Duganzic and he didn't start a single game for them since they got their first win (funny that), Goodwin only played 4 games for our club and was released from the club in the period after JVS left his first stint as manager and before Aloisi took over as manager so you can't even blame JVS for that one, sorry guys. Letting Mauk was a big call but let hope it's Malik up their with a winners medal for us next season!
  6. Have a look at Manchester City, Sheikh Mansour purchased the club in 2008 and spend ridiculous amounts of money completely transforming the squad, whenever a player flopped or a managers build failed they'd just go a re-sign even more players. City didn't win the league until 2012. The club need to fight tooth and nail to keep our best players, move on our under-preforming players and poor signings and then replace them. There's absolutely no certainties when you sign new players because for every Bruno Fornarolli there's a Robbie Koren.
  7. That is an unbelievable fact, one that really annoys me too. How is our squad ever going to gel?
  8. Zullo is a real interesting one, I genuinely don't know whether he'll go or stay. I think he's a good player but I'm not completely sold on him as a left and he is quite injury prone. However I don't want to use a VISA spot on a left back and there's very little Australian left back options out there.
  9. This, with Wilkinson, Hughes and Kisnorbo all going I think we'll see Malik play more as a CB. If he was used as a third/fourth choice CB and a second choice DM we'd have some serious depth options.
  10. Certainly won't be off our radar after today, would a welcomed recruit. He's lived in Adelaide since he came to Australia and just won the Premiers Plate and Championship at Adelaide. I could only imagine we'd have to offer him a very contract to get him to sign, I'm not sure how I'd feel him coming on a larger contract, he's a good young player but he's far from a star of the league. His teammate Dylan McGowan would defiantly interest me also, has been heavily linked with Sydney FC however.
  11. We currently have next to no proper legends at our but Paddy deserves to go down as one. Gave it his all to just every game but every contest, was everything you could ask in a captain. Rapt he's staying around at the club as a coach. Thanks for everything Norbs'!
  12. Really didn't want Adelaide to win because of him.
  13. Hard to see him staying after reading that.
  14. Youth contracts are on very low wagers, unfotuenlty there's no way Marino would've agreed to a youth contract.
  15. Having our links with Manchester City we'd be able to get our hands on an incredible talent and would give our club a real advantage but my post was to agree with what Luke had previously posted saying we need to worry about properly filling the actual marquee spot before trying to get in new rules. No body even mentions the Australian youth marquee spot, something we really need to be utilizing. You know what's actually funny mate we should be able to bring James Horsfield in this off season if the CFG wanted to, I believe you've got to be over 21yo to fill a visa spot, James turns 21 in September right before the start of the season. We can sign any of the City kids who are over 21, with out a doubt need to utilize it.
  16. It's not like the club had a lot of options with half our team looking like they'll go but I've thought he was staying because of the same reason. The MLS is a better league than the A League and he's hardly been setting the league a light, you'd imagine NYC would be targeting better players with their international player spots. Whilst I wouldn't put it past them surely the CFG wouldn't take an Australian player who was with-in our salary cap to play elsewhere. I'm confident he'll permenatly sign with our club or at least have his loan extended for next season, hoping Luke Brattan will also be here next season.
  17. Is contracted until the end of next season.
  18. Look at the John Stones Everton/Chelsea situation, Stones handed in a transfer request, Chelsea submitted multiple bids yet John remained at Everton. There is nothing actually stopping us from keeping Bruno inside the salary cap where he's still contracted from next season. However a player can then kick up a stink, don't train, don't play and mess up the whole clubs moral. The big thing for the club is if he refuses to stay and he does leave the club we will get a transfer fee for him, if there's Chinese clubs circling the CFG could realistically make back the money they spent purchasing our club on the sale of just two players, unreal.
  19. Absolutely, major issue with visa players. Unfortunately that's the nature of the A League and it'll probably always be like that, especially whilst the league uses a salary cap. For all of the baggage that comes with Harry he is a very good player but we do know what we're going to get from Harry and we know he's a class player. There's always a big risk that visa players can flop and with Koren/Hughes old visa spots already avaliable if Bruno and Harry also go that's four visa spots we need to fill in one off season.
  20. Straight after he got suspended I thought enough was enough, it's time to get him out of the club but with all the links and rumours of players going (Wilko already gone) I don't want us to have to replace half of our squad, especially our top players. Wouldn't be overly happy to see him go anymore.
  21. Agreed, we released a marquee player in a transfer window and didn't even replace him let's worry about actually bringing in boss marquees who can play let alone kids.
  22. The correct calls to release Brown, Hughes and Trifiro. I thank all three for their services and wish them the best with whatever they do from here, unfortunately all three just weren't good enough. Dekker is an interesting call, he's now 22 so can't exactly play the youth card anymore. It appears Bruce Kamau who's 12 months younger yet still far more proven will be coming in, I would expect Fitzy to re-sign and we cannot forget Corey Gamerio will return from injury next season. Even if Harry goes we would sign a new replacement for him, Dekker isn't going to take spot! I just don't know if we could merit a position in the squad for Dekker. The abundance of forward options may have also been the thought process behind releasing Marino but I really rate him a player he was finally making his break through into our team nek minnet (I'm sorry ) he's been released.
  23. Was always going to happen but I'm still absolutely shattered, we're going to find it so hard to find a replacement of such quality. I wouldn't of been as mad if he went go CCM.
  24. I'd have no problems with him re-signing at the club however I'd want it to be a much smaller contract and Paddy okay with playing as a backup.
  25. Sadly I think it's fair to believe last night will be the last time we'll see Alex in a City top. Rightfully so everyone's talking about Mooy moving on but Wilkinson will be a huge loss, it'd kill me to see him go.
