A spanner has been thrown in the works, with this (surely) irrisistable deal.

Article from the Courier Mail.

"IN-DEMAND mentor Ange Postecoglou has been offered a $6 million, four-year deal to not only head Brisbane Roar's coaching operations but the Bakrie Group's entire football department.

The Courier-Mail has learnt that the Roar's Indonesian owners have upped the ante in their bid to keep Postecoglou, who has been widely tipped to join Melbourne Victory for close to $1 million a season.

If Postecoglou instead accepts the Bakrie Group's offer, he will head the conglomerate's expanding football wing, which already takes in the Roar, Belgian club Cercle Sportif Visé, Indonesian outfit Pelita Jaya and Uruguay-based Deportivo Indonesia. Apart from the financial benefits, perhaps the crucial element of the deal would be that Postecoglou could base himself in his home town of Melbourne.

It is no secret that Postecoglou is keen to return to Victoria for personal reasons.

He would make regular visits to Brisbane, Uruguay, Indonesia and Belgium as well as other clubs the Bakrie Group are planning to take over as part of its desire to build a formidable football empire.

"It's a unique position - nobody's ever had this position before," a source close to the club said.

"The Bakrie Group feel they need it. They have a vast network of clubs, they're further expanding that with academies and more clubs.

"They really love Ange's style. They feel as if they want to have a global synergy and that's been put to Ange.

"He's excited but he's got a lot to think about, and right now he wants to think about finishing the season."

Postecoglou's replacement as Brisbane coach would come from within the club, making current assistant Rado Vidosic the firm favourite to become the club's fourth head coach since the start of the A-League in 2005.

"Ange has put in a fantastic system and a fantastic bunch of people and there's no need for change," the source said. "There'll be nobody new coming in - that's for sure.

"It has never been considered, never been discussed."

Should Postecoglou accept the role, it could also lead to the Roar's current football manager Paul Trimboli remaining with the club.

It is expected that should Postecoglou defect to the Victory, Trimboli would also join his best friend at the A-League's biggest club.

An agitated Postecoglou yesterday refused to speculate on his coaching future.

"It doesn't matter what I say," Postecoglou said yesterday ahead of Brisbane's AFC Champions League clash tonight at Suncorp Stadium against Ulsan Hyundai, a clash that is a prelude to Sunday's A-League grand final.

"I'm not saying either way. This whole question about my future, it's something that fascinates other people. It doesn't fascinate me."

Melbourne Victory bid to make Ange Postecoglou A-League's top-paid coach

MELBOURNE Victory is believed to be on the brink of securing the A-League's most wanted coach after tabling Ange Postecoglou a lucrative three-year offer.

The Herald Sun understands the Brisbane Roar coach has been offered a deal worth $500,000 a year by Victory, which would make him the highest paid coach in the A-League.

The World Game understands Postecoglou – on the cusp of a second successive A-League title with Brisbane – is believed to have struck an agreement to return to his hometown two weeks ago and that the Indonesian based Bakrie Group, which funds Brisbane, is not prepared to stand in his way.

It's understood a compensation fee will be paid by Melbourne to the Bakrie Group as Postecoglou still has two years to run on his Roar contract and that an announcement of his imminent arrival has been delayed until after the grand final.

Postecoglou, who is expected to remain at the helm for the rest of the AFC Champions League group stage, plans to head to Melbourne with Roar's general manager of football Paul Trimboli by his side as he becomes easily the A-League's highest earning coach in 2012-2013 – in the vicinity of $800,000 a season.

Its money they are saving from Kewell leaving. Srs.

To western Sydney? would be great to not only see Sydney vs Western Sydney but Emerton vs Kewell playing against each other from the same city. :o

would be great for the league considering Visitors have enough members.

Taking this could really boost Ange's international profile. Wouldn't be surprised if he accepted, tbh.

in fact, i would be more surprised if he DIDNT accept it!
