  1. Glover cost us progression the season before. Interesting how we let Gauci go after stealing him from Adelaide and now he's in the NT. We don't really have a good record with the GK position. Even Tommy Sorensen fell out of favour in his second season.
  2. What do we reckon about Jamie Young? No doubt that he's made some significant saves for us this season. Is he worth another season in the squad?
  3. I don't think Western will be a pushover for us, but I think Sydney will wallop Perth.
  4. Osmosis is a wonderful thing....
  5. Mate, are you still living in cloud cuckoo land? This is Melbourne City we're talking about. You know, the one that can't even tell us about its Fan Representative Group? And you want "communication?" Have a heart. Oh, we had one of those once....
  6. @D.B. Cooper No idea. I've begun to wonder whether Nabbout and Tilio have already left the club...
  7. How do the "finals play-offs" work this season? Who plays who?
  8. Macarthur are leading Sydney 1-0 so at this stage it is mathematically possible for us to finish 5th.
  9. 5,000 at present. Could easily get to 15,000 with modular additions. Why spend more?
  10. Jakolis is a waste of space when looked at over the entire season. Don't think he has a football brain at all.
  11. If only we had spread our goals over the season... Just bag JMac now...and then he might do something...
  12. Quite frankly, City should be embarrassed at our season. As has been pointed out, take away the three big wins and we have been poor. Mariners, seemingly on the brink of financial difficulties all the time, have shown what can be done with club spirit, whereas we have become complacent. Phoenix too have lived up to their name. A great season from them. Congratulations to everyone concerned. Money ain't everything.
  13. There's enough evidence to suggest that it was sent out, but so far I have not found anyone who actually has retained a copy.
  14. The modular stadium idea is not new of course. IMO there is no need to build-in facilities that are used on match-day, such as food and beverage outlets - these facilities come to the ground and set up outside the ground on match day and are run by private businesses. I believe that this is the model used in the USA, and in fact saw the big stadium in Honolulu which operates on this basis. On the day in question we went to a sort of bring-and-buy sale held in the car-park outside. Three of the stands at the new stadium of AFC Wimbledon are of modular construction. A heart-warming story itself of the rebirth of a football club is here: https://www.afcwimbledon.co.uk/club/history/#:~:text=It happened on November 3,and loved ceased to exist.
  15. Is that stadium of WU their final effort or a training pitch? Interesting to see whatever its final designation. Could be quite a nice little "boutique" ground if developed further. Looks functional and affordable from the highlights of the match vs. Adelaide I just watched. Quite by chance some 20 minutes after I posted the above I discovered this: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-20/clubs-exploring-modular-stadiums/103640100
  16. Consecutive years playing Asian football too. Well done! Deserve everyone's congratulations. And Victory likely to finish third and also be in Asia. Wake up City.
  17. Political and gender correctness restricted my post...
  18. TTIM...The continual moaning by female sportspeople that they are not adequately remunerated. Babes, don't you know that it's nothing to do with your actual talent at all? It's about the money that sponsors, promoters, the media, advertisers, agents and agencies, governments, and all the other sport hangers-on are going to make out of you that determines what you are worth, and nothing to do with you at all. And you don't have to do it if you don't like it... TTIM...drivers in Melbourne who pull up at the lights in the centre lane when there's no right-turn lane, and then when the lights go green turn on their right-turn indicator.... Wankers.
  19. Here's an update. Part thereof. I've been advised that an email went out to all members last July inviting nominations to the FRG. Does any member on here remember such an email better still have a copy of it? I don't recall it myself but that doesn't mean that I didn't receive it. One point that strikes me is that members don't necessarily renew or take out a membership as early as July when the season doesn't start until October, and not a great deal is known about the squad at that time. Please post on here if you have anything to add, or PM me if you don't want to post publicly. Thank you. jw
  20. AFAIK he was CCM's NSWNPL GK (abbreviations!!).
  21. It's also pissing me off to learn today that athletes get fast-tracked to citizenship so that they can represent Australia at sport, whereas other perfectly respectable applicants for a visa (not citizenship), such as someone who has married an Australian citizen, have to wait years. Double standards.
  22. So we have another $50b to throw at "defence" (against a thought bubble threat) and at the same time we increase the charges for our own young people who try to better themselves through further education?
  23. Somehow we have to sort out the conflicts between our League season and international commitments.
  24. IMO the voting overall is a pretty accurate reflection of a disappointing season.
