  1. TTIM...Cost increases on existing contracts between consumer and provider that give no reasons. Today, two: - Health insurance - premium increasing by $20 per month - Our two smartphones - $8 per month Only benefit - increased "data" on the phones that I don't need, don't want and didn't ask for. It's such a hassle to change "plans" these days. You're talking to some fuckwit in a call centre.
  2. Interesting that I've just received an email advertising football sessions in Sandringham at the ground of Sandringham SC. I wonder whether the club is moving its interest back into the genuine S-E suburbs rather than out in the boondocks? I lived in this area for 33 years and I don't recall local sessions like this in our area before.
  3. IMO we need a fresh face with a decent pedigree, not some recycled bloke from another A-League club. Someone who will restore pride, passion and belief in our club via what we see on the pitch. There's nothing in the "City way" that prevents exciting and attacking football. Possession and a high press don't prevent overlapping wing-backs or through balls (plenty of Haaland's goals come that way) or mandate back-passes. We weren't bland and boring in the past and we don't need to be now. But like has been said before - the problem lies deep in the club. Not just with Vidmar.
  4. Another essential for APL in the future is a regular fixture. Apparently there's also an A-League home match on Tuesday, vs. WSW at 7.00 p.m. It's Monday that's a Public Holiday in Victoria...
  5. @fensaddler As always sir, your wish is my command.
  6. Unless other things change as well, we could have Guardiola as coach and it wouldn't make any difference.
  7. I was involved in the Greenhouse Challenge in the final 10 years (or so) before my retirement. That program lapsed in 2009. The reason for the "activists" is because Australian and State governments have done bugger all to address and actually reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse emissions for over 30 years. It is very common for scientists to debate emerging science, and there's nothing wrong with such debate. But I submit to you that the overwhelming majority of actual climate scientists are of the view that climate change cause by human activity is real and on us now, well ahead of previous forecasts, and there is no room for climate "deniers." The problem is now acute, because in many cases the solutions to excessive emissions will actually worsen the situation before they will achieve the desired reductions in, and eventual elimination of, such emissions. The problem in Australia is compounded by our federation set-up, and the ridiculous 3-year election cycle at a Commonwealth level, a pre-occupation with social engineering trivia, and poor education standards.
  8. I usually go for an evening walk in a nearby reserve here in Moorabbin, and I've noted that for the past three weeks on a Monday evening looks like a batch of City youngsters (say 11-14 year-olds), with about five adults organising and watching on, doing some training for around 60-90 minutes. I've not seen them there previously.
  9. I agree with you. Too many players and staff have walked out, and IMO many of the signings are just not of the standard required and we know for a fact that Petrillo handles all contract matters. And he was nothing to do with the apparent lack of players pushing up from the Academy. Vidmar was given a poisoned chalice. He cannot be held accountable for the overall woes, because they were evident before he came on the scene. That doesn't mean that he's a good coach of course. But when you've got players who seemingly can't string three passes together, can't hit a barn door from 20 metres (just watch the shooting "practice" in the warm up), and also appear to have long-COVID, what the hell can he do? Granted his substitutions seem as stubbornly monotonous as PK's were, and I don't think anyone can work out why Antonis and Caputo aren't getting plenty of minutes. But I wouldn't want to be in his position for all the tea in China.
  10. People keep repeating this assertion. The game is played on the field, not on paper. It's how you play next time out that counts, not your past record.
  11. IMO this is just rationalising the situation. No-one is expecting us to be Premiers every season, or even in the top 6, 4, 3, or 2. What we have a right to expect is obvious pride in the shirt, passion and a will to win. We just are not getting the cake we should from the ingredients we have.
  12. Because I suspect that unless he does he cannot be the official coach.
  13. Sums it up perfectly.
  14. @D.B. CooperOf course you do. It's just something that seems to be forgotten by many. The inadequacies of the squad, such as signing players on unnecessarily long contracts, are down to him. I'm not saying Vidmar is a great coach, or that he's doing a good job, but basically his hands are tied just as Rado's were. IMO we're in for a period of upheaval at the club, much like the Fornaroli/Joyce era.
  15. Petrillo is in charge of recruitment and contracts, not our head coach...
  16. I listened to perhaps 90 seconds and had had enough. It's the same old, same old, mantra, just expressed slightly differently. "Things didn't work out for us, we did enough to get something out of the game, we'll regroup and do it all again next week, blah, blah, blah." The fundamental problem with this approach is believing that you are right (the "City way") and refusing to realise that you aren't always right and that there's a need to change. Sadly, I can't see change happening while this mentality pervades the club.
  17. This thread needs to be terminated.
  18. Worst squad we've ever had. Even in the dark days of Aloisi we played with spirit. I don't resile from the view that Lam, VdV, Sakhi, Rado, van Houten and the other assistant who left, all saw that there was no future here and that's why they walked. I'm looking forward to the next episode of "Talking City."
  19. The fuel is wet, the kindling is wet, the touch paper is wet, and we lost the matches some time ago...
  20. Like the others - left because he didn't get minutes. Management of the club is rotten to the core.
  21. 1. Jamie YOUNG (GK), 4. Nuno REIS, 6. Steven UGARKOVIC, 7. Mathew LECKIE, 8. James JEGGO, 9. Jamie MACLAREN (C), 10. Tolgay ARSLAN, 11. Leo NATEL, 14. Vicente FERNÁNDEZ, 15. Andrew NABBOUT, 17. Terry ANTONIS, 21. Alessandro LOPANE, 22. Curtis GOOD, 23. Marco TILIO, 25. Callum TALBOT, 26. Samuel SOUPRAYEN, 33. Patrick BEACH (GK), 37. Max CAPUTO, 38. Harry POLITIDIS, 44. Marin JAKOLIS. In: 10. Tolgay ARSLAN (returns from suspension), 11. Leo NATEL (returns from illness). Out: Nil. Unavailable: 2. Scott GALLOWAY (calf), 34. Arion SULEMANI (ACL), 46. Ben MAZZEO (ankle).
  22. IMO it's not just that he's "out of form," his strength is scoring goals and - as he admits himself - does not have the ball skills that some players have, and when he's not scoring he's essentially a passenger. Vidmar just hasn't shown the balls to to drop him and play Caputo instead.
