FFA Cup Draw - Melbourne City vs Sydney FC
kontra.11 replied to Dearg is bán's topic in Melbourne City
It's artificial magic. But hey I'm a purist about this kind of thing. I would have preferred that moment when a small club got to the semi finals for the first time on their own merits (and you know what it might have happened this year anyway). So is the A-league. What makes it real is the fans. I was of the opinion that the structuring of the FFA Cup and how a lesser club is guaranteed a spot in the final four was disappointing about a month ago. I've since changed my mind. This isn't going to be the structure year in, year out, perhaps only for a few seasons until it will move to a more true cup competition format. However, in the short term it will create buzz around the lower ranked teams. In the Herald Sun today, there's an article with South Springvale pictured with AFL players Ty Vickery and Ivan Maric. Now, that may not seem like much, but for South Springvale that is huge. A lot of AFL players will see that and give it a read too, and they'll learn a little bit more about the FFA Cup too. The early years, for me, is all about letting people know about the cup (of course I refer to those people outside football). The FFA Cup will be a success, it's a competition like no other in Australian professional sport. Most A League fans would do well to research and get to know the state league teams as well. And who gives a crap what AFL thinks of football.. They are trying to destroy the game, not build partnerships unless it suits them. As for the FFA Cup, if it's going to be engineered and fixed like they do in AFL draws for example, then no thanks. It makes it a corrupt competition. -
Melbourne City FC Terrace | OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

And with that, the Manchester City takeover and Heart supporters complicity to it is complete. Melburnians would be a good name if the club was actually concerned about representing Melbourne. -

Melbourne City members free but Ballarat members have to pay. But yeah let's pretend to support local clubs and communities.. -

Are you a Manchester City supporter? I disagree with you almost entirely except that you are right that the supporters are the club. In this case the supporters are almost entirely on the same page with something (colours) and are being ignored. So in this case it's clear that the supporters AREN'T the club in the mind of those who run it. -

Stop being difficult mate. And stop being a sook. How dare you want to hold onto the things that made you support the club in the first place? You should be grateful that the club you have supported has been totally wiped out. Don't you want to win at all costs? All of this was so predicatble as soon as the sale happened. Did people really expect to get listened too? -
Happy now boys? You all jumped up and down with excitement when the club was sold.. Did you really expect anything different? This is a business deal. They are not here to represent Melbourne, they are representing their own interests and enough bandwagon morons will probably help with that. Anything to win right? In the meantime, we are losing our club.. Totally... The old board have alot to answer for as well..
-
haha.. this forum just gets funnier. Eddie and Demetriou running the club? People who have actively tred to destroy football in this country and you guys want them at the club? Really??

Fans CAN do something, but the reality is that most of our fan base is willing to sell its soul for results.. -

Thankfully someone!! As for Melbourne City, there is a long tradition in Victorian football with that name. I hope the actual Melbourne City stay strong and fight for their club.. It's already much more than most on this forum are doing for theirs.. -

You're misunderstanding what the City network of clubs actually is. We are a global community of clubs that will share scouting resources, player development techniques, opponent data, sponsors, and football philosophy to help each other win. Your name and trademark might change, but Ferran Soriano will put the right people in charge. His motto is to play pretty football, develop local talent and trophies will come. The lads around Melbourne will have a great opportunity to develop as players when he introduces world class youth coaches and methods. Our young lads are destroying their domestic opponents. If that doesn't interest you, fair enough. To everyone else, you're in for one hell of a good time. Not that it matters really...but.. I had a giggle at that.. The football philosophy of Man City is not to to produce local talent. It is to buy championships at all costs no matter the debt. -

It's a franchise pal. If you are able to just forget all alliegences and emotion you had and embrace something totally different, from name and kit etc then good for you.. -

The day your club, that claims to be a community club, sells to a foreign club which you despise everything they stand for and will be run by another club from a different code. I'm out. -

Aloisi can't have it both ways. He got the squad he wanted and now he is complaining that they are making mistakes. It is clear to anybody that understands football that our attackers lack brains and a final ball/product.. This is not new.. Yet JA's game plan is for these very same players to individually create and finish chances without any system of building up or movement.. The club should just let Walker, Vrankovic, Mauk, Retre and Garrucio go.. The club is ruining their careers.. From seeing exciting young players come through, the club is now a retirement village.. -
What did people expect from Kewell? He is a rubbish bloke and the playing golf thing is just an example of his immaturity.. He isn't going to teach the kids anything and why such a self centred moron was made captain is beyond me.. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play a game, especially now that there is no way he will be picked for the national team..
-
Things that will happen before we win outside of Melbourne
kontra.11 replied to kingofhearts's topic in Melbourne City
JA will no longer be coach of Melbourne Heart. -
Does anybody know why Aloisi has lost total faith in Walker? There is no way in the world that Hoffman is better than Walker, who would benefit playing alongside such experienced centre backs.. Not allowing kids to play through mistakes ruins them..
-
Let things grow organically rather than forcing it.. The song selections are I prefer mostly no music unless something really meaningful comes up and that is ALWAYS driven by the fans.. Goal music is a crime against football...
-
Our attacking players Duga, Gol Gol, Williams and Ramsay all have speed but lack composure and intelligence.. This match was a perfect example.. Bad decision making, bad finishing and panic once we get a half chance.. Their movement also isn't good which means the midfield has nothing on when they get the ball.. Aloisi and Foxe need to teach these guys..
-
Don't know why Ange is being talked about as Australia coach. His teams are horribly predictable and even A League coaches are now understanding how to shut his game plan down. We did a good job of cutting the wingers out and MVFC had nothing else.. As for when we had the ball. Nothing has changed from last season in terms of build up play and Mifsud better get used to jumping for headers by the look of things..
-
Preseason is over and Aloisi hasn't shown anything different. Him talking about preseason being only for players to get a run is ridiculous. It's a time to implement a system, try different things and get the team functioning or showing signs of functioning.. Instead, the tired old formation and the two centre backs playing kick to kick.. Our season depends on 30+ injury prone veterans and that scares the crap out of me..
-
At least he is under 30 years old. We're going to be a team of pensioners with loads of injury problems.. On top of the already big injury problems the club has.
-
Hopefully Aloisi uses him properly rather than thumping long balls to his head like Tadic last year.. Have to say, not confident judging by the preseason so far.

It's not shit. It's unfortunate that it doesn't interest people on a FOOTBALL forum..
