So we have signed a wide player/winger that can play left back and are told he can be used up front. Genuinely hope this guy rips it up and compliments the squad and will be really keen to see where how he is actually used.

Compensation??? Are you serious. Playing fringe players when all the best players are playing for their national teams will definitely boost ratings and get extra people through the gate. These international fixtures are set years in advance surely a proper League can fixture accordingly. FFS even the second tier in England has an international break. Just plain stupidity.

No international break for the League is an absolute joke and an embarrassment. When will these Muppets at the FFA start to run this League like a proper professional elite competition.

So has the Cahill signing really achieved anything? Basically he was a free hit due to the rule change. So after 4 weeks (?) or so can we actually see any spikes in numbers. A few of the apologists need to look at the pre season in it's entirety and not just the Newcastle game. We have copped goals in every game against varying levels of opponents. Every game has a book full of reasons why we played a paticular way but for me I'm sick of hearing the same excuses. I'm holding off until Wednesday to see exactly where we at but so far there has been nothing to prove we are any better than any other season. Talking Wednesday we will be lucky to get 5k.

I think the Phoenix game also has set the tone of pessimism. I'm in the negative corner thinking the worst but really only because of past seasons and recent pre season results. So everything for me hinges on Wednesday. If we dish up the same as previous years then my expectations for the season will be zero.

If this happens then thats another season and potentially the next few down the toilet. I put this up before if we have an indifferent start to the season that is lose to Wanderers and a loss to Wellington and a poor performance in the Derby then you can basically look at a repeat of last few seasons. Alternatively if we win all three and look like an exciting entertaining team then watch everyone jump on board. From all the available evidence so far and past experiences I know which scenario is more likely than not.

Completely sapped of any enthusiasm not sure If it's the weather or the diabolical result to Wellington probably both but I seriously can't get up beat about this season. The squad we have assembled on paper should by rights have me over the moon and frothing for the season start. I guess it comes down to Wednesday night and what sort of performance we produce. I really want to be excited about what lies ahead but this is the same as every and we all know how that ended.
