  2. Well gentleman, with the season still fresh in our minds I thought I'd start this thread to help with laying the groundwork for the upcoming season. I know certain crews in the home-end prefer to keep their plans hush, so consider this a general thread for people to post any suggestions/improvements on ways we can improve the home-end. Just try and keep it all constructive. This last season was a real consolidation period, after spending the first year trying to setup and establish ourselves and I think most here would agree we have done well to place ourselves in the top 3 or 4 home-ends in the country. Next season is all about growth and continuing to definine our own style and character. My thoughts; Chant situation is a big issue. We simply don't have enough, and some of the best chants we pionered in the first season ie. Melbourne's Red & White, Melbourne Tifosi, JCGE etc. have been taken by our rivals here and interstate and flogged to death by them. We need more songs & people singing them. The more unique the better. Speed of chanting another issue. People singing far too fast which results in chants/songs being over-used during the match because we go through most of our singing for the match. Alot of this falls on the drummer - it is their job to pace the chants, not to beat to the speed of the terrace. Fixing the drumheads will hopefully rectify some of these problems. Away Days - how can we improve the numbers? To be fucking honest, our home-end showings have been pretty poor. I know we arn't the largest club, but our invasions have been probably some of the weakest in the league. There isn't a strong enough culture of travelling amongst our home-end from outside the usuual suspects. Need to find ways to develop this. The Gimp. I think most would agree the Perth final was a fanstatic turnout. Pity half these kents don't come week in/week out. Need to find a way to get more of these ppl coming back for the other Away matches.

  3. I feel that in regards to Away Day attendances and pub attendances, a lot of Yarraside's members are largely under age, but nearing 18, so they don't put in as much effort to get to these things. So over the time expect, both of these things to improve rapidly. Most of the lads I go with will be 18 by season start and are all keen in getting involved with the above, something we couldn't really do so before. Speed of chanting is just an Aussie culture thing really, with persistence and encouragement of the right culture, I believe we can get it right, which I noticed started to happen a bit more towards the end of the season.

  8. Currently the club has a model of community engagement, a corporate program, youth development and attractive exciting football as the cornerstones of building membership. The club was targeting 10,000 members this year (which i believe has not been achieved ) and there were a number of deals such as buy one ticket get one free, half price tickets, free tickets for members and 5 game memberships to encourage more people to attend games. Attendance for 2011/2012 to date average 9,724. The derby averaged 26,482 and against interstate / NZ clubs the average stands at 6,372. Last season the average was 8,315, the derby average was 24,478 and against interstate / NZ clubs the average was 5,828 I have read quite a few posts where people have put forward great ideas on how to get more people through the gate and ultimately turn them into members. I thought it would make a good stand alone topic and maybe even provide the marketing area of the club with an avenue to good ideas from current members. So post away....how can the club (and we as members) help increase the Melbourne Heart membership number? What initiatives have worked well and what has bombed?

  9. Maycon has left the country: This means that Gerry’s Infamous Number Nine is yet again vacant. It was asked from the Rooster Kop to Eli: “Are you the next Sibon?” And he answered by beating Sibon season record of 7 with 9 for the year becoming are highest ever scorer with 11 in total. He was confidence, he has the swagger, he has the size, His time is here: ELI FOR NUMBER NINE!

  16. More seeds and/or nuts to be consumed. Banning people from home end if they dont consume seeds and/or nuts. Setting up some sort of wholesale purchasing of seeds and/or nuts to lower costs. Moving to new pub due to the imperial's anti seed & nut mentality. Seed & nut crew fence banner. Thats all for now.

  18. This is the key point: “Frank Lowy flew to Brisbane to meet with me face-to-face and I took that as a sign of goodwill,” said Mr Tinkler. “It was a gesture I certainly appreciated. “I welcomed the opportunity to meet and discuss these issues in person. We now have a way forward and I remain committed to ensuring the Newcastle Jets is one of the most successful clubs in the Hyundai A-League." So much better than sniping at one another via the media. It's what should have happened with GCU.

  31. Wow you've named a few, looks Ok for the future then. The gaffer obviously doesn't think the mids are ready yet (which it seems you concur with), or we never would have signed Reid. I wouldn't mind seeing a youth striker off the bench. I'm not one to slag our own players and I can't fault the effort from the guys we bring on, but none of them seem to have that little bit of magic you need from a striker/forward - especially a sub.
