Was there for a half and we didn't show alot to be honest.

Mauk was most impressive in my opinion has some tricks the boy, really good with ball at his feet and hit the cross bar after a nice run.

Thought Cam Edwards positioning and distribution was very good, needs to impose himself more on the game but some clever passing and has a bit of talent.

Western Sydney Wanderers defeated Melbourne Heart 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in a tight National Youth League contest at Epping Stadium.

Wanderers broke the deadlock barely ten minutes into the contest when it was awarded a penalty after Andrew Mullet brought down Nicholas Olsen inside the box.

Olsen had looked dangerous throughout the early stages of the match, and darted past three Red & White players prior to the foul which lead to the spot kick.

Wanderers skipper Yianni Perkatis converted the set piece, giving Heart goalkeeper Alastair Bray little hope of denying the goal.

The away outfit held on to its lead for all of seven minutes until Melbourne was awarded a penalty of its own in dubious circumstances, with Stefan Mauk hitting the turf while contesting for a header within the 18-yard box.

A-League squad member Dylan Macallister stepped up to score and fooled Aaron Lindell with a shot right down the middle of the goal.

Just before the half hour mark, Heart should have restored its one goal margin with Mauk hitting the crossbar from within the box after creating space with a drop of his shoulder.

The opportunity came during a period where Melbourne looked dangerous, creating a host of chances and forcing Wanderers defenders to make a series of good clearances.

Minutes before the interval, and arguably against the run of play, Daniel Barac restored the visitor’s lead with a cool finish into the bottom right hand corner after a brilliant first touch put him one-on-one with Bray.

Western Sydney dominated proceedings in the second period of play, with Heart, a shadow of their former selves, unable to fashion many chances until late into the game.

As a result, Wanderers held most of the possession and should have put the game to bed on a number of occasions.

Nicholas Olsen put in a man-of-the-match performance for Western Sydney, skipping past his opponents in the wing and uncharacteristically squandered a glorious chance to kill off the contest in the final minute of the game.

The result puts Heart in danger of losing its third place on the National Youth League table, with an Adelaide United win all but needed to knock Melbourne off its current spot.

  • 2 weeks later...

If we played in our home strip, what did WSW wear so as to not clash?

They wore their Home Strip, and TBH it was not hard to follow...

Excellent. Thanks.

If WSW wear black shorts when they play us at home there would be no clash. I was annoyed that we wore red shorts against our last game against them it looks shit with the away white shirt.

How far away do you think he is from the senior team?
