Agreed, however I don't think there is many as I have looked myself.. But, subbuteoworld sell blank packs with bases for around $15 Australian maybe a bit less, so if you have some painting skills, could give that a go

Thanks mike, I have chosen the new version as it was the cheaper option and the players aren't plastic cards (have looked at that set and wasn't too keen on the cards). I will look to purchase both a Milan set and hopefully a heart set later if I can find a seller. Will keep you posted

Nah I like the current one, besides, it's annoying to teach people a new player chant when there already is one when the whole terrace isn't on the forum..

Due to it being Christmas and I have genorous grandmothers, I have now come in to possession of a sum of money that I would like to finally use on a fine set of subbuteo. However, I'm not sure as to which would be better to purchase. I love the old style sets as they have a rich history and look amazing, but to play with, a modern set is more sturdy, which would be beneficial as I am going to use it. Both old and new sets are around the same price, so what set should you guys recommend I buy?

also works if he never scores again. i do enjoy the comedic side of sloop john b but it's done so much in the UK now it's become a bit ridiculous. True, but yes I would enjoy singing it as his first ever league goal was scored so effortlessly, almost as If he does score when he wants... Hence being a fitting chant
