Round 12: City vs Perth, Fri 26th Dec 5:30pm
JoyfulPenguin replied to Murfy1's topic in Melbourne City
Well I think 1-1 against the top side is a decent result we could have easily won and have apart from the goal Perth didn't create much. If we play like that against Newcastle and Central Coast we should win easily. -

Hoff out is massive today Perth's main route to goal is quick counters through their wingers. Fullbacks need to be on today -

So many Man U tops today -
If Poppa can make him a top A-League player which at the start he looked like he could be then he should be the NT Coach.

The Football League (Championship, League One, League Two)

Holy shit why?! Robbie Slater must have been right when he said the A-League is better than the championship. -
Will be interesting to see the quality of Al Jazira and how we stack up against them. Hope it is streamed somehow.

2-1 against Sydney last year is the best game I have ever watched live plus it turned my staunchly AFL uncle into a soccer and Heart loving fan. The win against Newcastle close behind for sheer relief factor.

I'm not even fully convinced we will get out of the group stage. South Korea are better than us and on their day both Kuwait and Oman can beat us. Really can't see us winning this if I'm honest.

Luke Gallo is the youth team Left Winger I think he looked pretty good in the FFA Cup with Bentleigh.

Sounds just like us!

TTIM: People changing their pic on the forum and it taking me a week to realise it's the same person.

But you're sacrificing quality for that equality. It works well for sports where there isn't such a global free market, because then you get the benefits of all teams being competitive while still having the best players (AFL,NFL, even NBA because the NBA is in such a dominant position to begin with) but in soccer having a salary cap is no good. The other thing is, the pro salary cap arguments really lose a lot of their strength due to the A-League not actually having a salary 'cap'. The bigger teams still end up spending a lot more on salary than someone like CCM. Wouldn't surprise me if the team that spends the most on player salaries is spending double what the team with the lowest player salaries is. Is it really worth hindering the quality and global competitiveness of the league for a salary cap that doesn't really do much (apart from make things more difficult for clubs). If you want equality, then what needs to happen is transfer fees must be brought it. Will probably do a lot more than the pseudo salary cap. I personally think the salary cap is a good thing and should stay but with the addition of transfer fees so clubs who want a player earlier (or the player himself wants to leave) can be acquired without the club losing the player completely losing out. In regards to player development and academies I do think the salary cap promotes it because nearly all young players will be close to minimum wage when signing their first deal so you can get a very good player for close to nothing in the salary cap. Clubs are also more likely to build an academy and develop players because they aren't paying huge amounts of money for their existing senior players. Inevitably all non salary cap leagues turn into four or five clubs winning every single year which is more boring (IMHO) than watching a slightly lower quality.

"I will sleep when I'm dead" 100% agree. Same with eating. I have no fucking time for either but if I don't I will die which will be even more time consuming. Literally my two favourite things. Figure I'll get the most enjoyment possible out of life if I enjoy the two things that I have to do everyday to stay alive. Yet to find the same enjoyment from drinking water though. TTIM: Having to drink water to stay alive. Tastes so good after a run though.

lol, 'Don't need a striker' our makeshift strikers aren't worth a cold pie IMO, Williams, Duga & Brown would be lucky to start for any other A-League team. F@%K me they would be lucky to start in the W-League if the had a sex change, l'd rather put Hoff upfront least he know were the goals are... Not talking about Willo, Duga or Brown by the time he got here we'd have Kennedy so by then we'd not need a striker.
-
Don't need a striker but for what he is he seems decent enough.

Isn't Germano going to become Aussie at the end of this season? If he does I think he'd be worth having around even for his 3 or so games a year.

A proven EPL player such as Duff doesn't come under my definition of "scouting." I think of it (something like) as spotting a someone who has the talents to become a good footballer but who is playing way below the level that you think he is capable of. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scout_%28association_football%29 Someone like Roly Bonevacia, Daniel Georgievski, Roy Krishna, Isaias, Marcelo Carrusca, Pablo Sanchez, Besart Berisha, Marcos Flores, Gui Finkler, Sidnei, Carlos Hernandez, Jean Carlos Solorzano, Adama Traore, Mateo Poljak, Jerome Polenz, Sergio Van Dijk, Ali Abbas, Iacopo La Rocca, Youssouf Hersi Alex Rodriguez , Fabio Ferreira, Nikola Petkovic, Nebjosa Marinkovic, Cirio, Albert Riera, all of these players have been plucked out of relative obscurity by under resourced under manned A-League clubs surely CFG's world renowned 36 scouts can easily find players like this from the get go. Yet all they come back with is two former premier league players (not saying either is a bad signing). Surely these scouts can and should have found players up to the task if A-League clubs can by themselves can. -

Seriously are you JVS? Don't understand the criticisms of Murf he just points out things others might not have seen and does so informatively and interestingly. -
Devastated I can't make it because of playing commitments, to everyone who does make it out to AAMI good job!

Had the Kew electorate ALP candidate handing out how to vote cards seemed to be an all right bloke but it must be bloody depressing in that seat for him.

Well for me Mooy gives everything for the team! If we were to change captain the only person I would give it to is Aaron Mooy. He works hard sets an example for other players and lifts when others wilt. There are only two downsides he seems quite softly spoken though in my opinion that isn't such a bad thing and that he is quite young though there are and have been plenty of great young captains.
-
Eh Mooy did alright got 7 pretty much everyone else was shite though. Burns gets 42 with captain holy hell.
