Let's not go overboard. Was easily beaten early on for what should've been a tap in. Aside from that he was decent. Has been serviceable since day dot really. Would like him better if we were playing a back 4 and he had a bit more cover for when he gets skinned. Still think we're very light-on at the back. Garrucio totally skinned him 2 weeks ago for Adelaide's equaliser. It's going to happen again and we need to be ready for it - more than 1 CB, actual man marking, a competent goalkeeper, etc.

I usually park in Clarendon St and then walk through the G and over the train lines to AAMi. It's about a 15 minute walk - it's a shit walk after a loss. You'll probably be able to find something closer given it's a weeknight and nothing is on. I reckon we'll lose this 4-1. Hope I'm wrong.

I know you are more less refuting my argument but I agree with pretty much everything that you said and still stand by my point. We don't need a world beater at LB but we do need someone serviceable - I don't really rate Josh Rose anymore and Clisby is inconsistent at everything except being out of position. We have Malik, Retre, Melling, Brattan, Brendan, Caceres (and probably Cahill!) for midfield depth which is absolutely absurd and we could surely shed a player there and gain an extra $100-200k to get a decent starting 11 A-League full back. The top two sides last year were Adelaide and WSW - downplay the importance of fullbacks all you want (I don't necessarily agree, particularly with JVS's suicidal style of play) but these two sides have similar playing styles to us and had very decent fullbacks - Shannon Cole, Scott Jamieson, Scott Neville, Michael Marrone, Craig Goodwin, Tarek Elrich - these blokes are well and truly a cut above both Clisby and Rose and probably Manny Muscat. I had no real issues letting Zullo go if we could go and find a player of similar footballing ability and a much better injury record but this is a step down IMO even considering Zullo's inability to get on the pitch. I hope he proves me wrong but Rose is well and truly past it.

Not sure I'm buying into the whole 'no good aussie LBs' story being thrown around here. We have Zullo to replace. Probably on decent coin given he came from Europe. Why do we then go for a 34 year old bargain basement special from the worst team in the league? The answer is probably that we have used up too much of the salary cap on midfielders, which is poor list management imo. The reality is we have gone from rumours of Tarek Elrich to signing Josh fucking Rose. Surely you can see why people are disappointed. Josh will be 35 years old in December, as a birthday present he'll probably get to play his first game after missing the first half of the season with calf strains.

I won't miss him too much tbh. With all these midfield signings, somethings gotta give. In reality, he had a breakout season a couple of years ago when the next best options were Retre, Murdocca and Liam fucking Miller. Since then he has struggled to make the grade IMO. I love his attitude but his actual ability leaves a bit to be desired. Having said all this, I would wish him well wherever he chooses to go.

Yep. Those scouts should be asking for a pay rise. Certainly earning their money more than the blokes in the UK scouting retirement homes for Koren, Hughes, Duff and Sorensen.
