Okay I don't want to sound my own trumpet but I think I have come up with the perfect logo. Based off the Man City logo of the 70's and 80's I have designed the logo in a similar vein, with the city of Melbourne shield in a roundel format. Sky blue circle representing the global community of City clubs we have become welcomed into, with the shield consisting of the red cross signifying the local heart at the centre of this club. It is simple and distinctly Melbourne, but anyone who is even faintly familiar with Manchester City's history will still see the resemblance to the Club that now finances us. I am a buoyed a little by City fans telling us we may keep our identity, but I know compromise is going to happen so I hope this achieve that. My proposed logo

Posted this elsewhere but I'll chuck it here too.

Melbourne Heart FC buy out - Man City, Melbourne City FC, etc.
imonyarraside replied to AntiScum's topic in Melbourne City
As the Heart beat sounded one final time the soul that is this battling club rose into the heavens into the blue of the sky above, to rise above all others and take its place as the pride of this glorious city, Melbourne City. -

Man City are not stupid. Football fans in Australia already have their own Premier League clubs to support, I'm certainly not changing from Liverpool because of this. Two reasons why they made the investment. Football wise they can develop and pick off the best of Australia's talent. But most importantly it is a vehicle to promote all things Abu Dhabi in Australia and South East Asia. The bigger they develop the profile of the club the more they promote Abu Dhabi, simples. -

Everything can change but so long as the same people turn up supporting the one club, so long as there is always a Yarraside, it is in my opinion still the same club. That being said I really want us to remain red and white. "we'll always be red, weeeeeee'll always be reeeeeed! We're not changing. We'll always be red" -
sky blue and red don't go together very well at all.

There will have to be a fan forum or at the very least a meeting with those representing the club's fan base to tell the new owners how much change is acceptable. In a crowded market like Melbourne, you need to use your existing fans as a launching pad, not something to insult and discard and start again. -

Righto here is my crack at the re-brand, trying to strike the right balance between past and future. Melbourne City FC is a great name, but the Heart can and should be maintained as a nickname, and really the terrace has the power do do that (similar to Adelaide being the Reds). The colours should remain red and white but don't be surprised if sky blue becomes our third colour in some sense. The badge. Hardly a timeless design and would need a total revamp if the name is changed. So here are my ideas.: Melbourne City FC. "The Heart" Use a round badge with the logo using the Melbourne City flag's cross with a sky blue heart in the middle. (If we needed pointless symbolism make the sky blue representing Melbourne's stature as the world's most liveable city). Home Kit: Loved this year's fan design and if we are allowed to keep our colours I think our owners would like to see more white less red. Away Kit: Yes a genuine away kit where we wear it at every away match. This gives the club the opportunity to wear the sky blue and keep the owners happy somewhat. Third Kit: Red and charcoal to acknowledge our traditional third kit colours. *Manchester City sponsors used for illustrative purposes. -

Excellent news!! If it happens change the kit, change the badge, change the name, but don't change the colours and our ground. Our club was on life support, right now I am just over the moon it is here to stay! -
With Man City on board would Nike be on the table for next season?

TERRACE ANNOUNCEMENT RE: AUFC match dec 1
imonyarraside replied to Braveheart's topic in Match Day Planning
The club are well aware of the protest it seems. From the newsletter: "YOUR VOICE WILL RALLY THE TROOPS Sunday sees the visit of Adelaide United to Melbourne Heart FC with both teams searching for three points to kick start a winning streak up the Hyundai A-League table. Make sure you're there to cheer on the boys in Red & White and make the most of the monumental game day experience." -

This. The original facebook post was extremely vague and made it sound like the protest was simply about losing, instead of highlighting the systematic failures entrenched in the club at present. To make the protest effective you can't just live in a bubble and be content with fellow YS members supporting the decision, you need to do everything you can to get the whole club onside. So far the talk is on the mode of protest itself rather than the issue of management itself because the announcement was handled so poorly. If the silent protest is to go ahead make sure that the demands are written out in a clear and intelligent manner. Don't assume others know about all the issues at the club, be explicit and list every single grievance the supporters have with management. It might also help with the protest that once such demands are written out, distribute them the media outlets such as MFootball, The Age, the Hun, SBS, and Foxtel. Be intelligent about this. Simply having supporters sit there in silence suggests a defeated spirit, but being silent while having a clear and well publicised aim shows a determination to demand better. -

TERRACE ANNOUNCEMENT RE: AUFC match dec 1
imonyarraside replied to Braveheart's topic in Match Day Planning
Where did I tell you to fuck off? The club is bigger than YS, but I am lost as to where I said or implied that we are. Are we not allowed to express ourselves in the way we see fit? And I do take offence to you saying that our not chanting for 45 mins is more damaging than JAs reign. More than welcome to express yourselves, however the quote quote below does appear to suggest that the core YS puts itself above other supporters. "Those critical of the terrace may as well have supported keeping Johnny A until Melbourne Heart was no longer relevant." I fail to see how fans who are vocally call for the sacking of Aloisi yet disagree with the idea of a silent protest are supporting him. -

As others have said before I'm totally confused by this. A banner or two calling for Aloisi's resignation is all you need. Direct the anger at the management of the club, silence however affects the players and fundamentally what fans turn up to see is Melbourne goals, taking away our twelfth man undermines that and the commitment to support the club every second of every match. The core can do as they please, their motives are more than valid and I respect that. I just personally don't agree with a silent protest. -

This thread sums it up nicely. At one point or another most of us have had a go at Harry, or at the very least chanted "you are a waste of money", so it is understandable how apprehensive people are with the move. But if he is on minimum wage, probably just undervaluing him, then I really cannot see the issue with it. Sign him now, get a proper pre season under his belt, make suer he fits into our game plan and all will be well. He might add another 500 or so bandwagoners which isn't a bad thing either. But Garcia is an absolute must, he plays his heart out and respects the club, you can't ask for more than that.
