Seriously what is wrong with our club that we can't win a preseason game against A-League teams? I mean surely it points to something just like not winning away from Victoria did last year. The fitness training seems the most likely candidate. That explains poor second half results as well. I really hope we win a preseason game this year or I will lack confidence going into the comp proper.

Yeah but they had Popovic who did his time as an assistant at SFC, and then at Crystal Palace, and had all his badges. He got the best out of an unco-ordinated shit kicker like Mark Bridge who is no more talented than Hoffman, not to mention journey man A-League rejects like Beauchamp and NTS. So Popovic got better with coaching experience but Aloisi won't? Popovic learned from being a senior assistant coach, Aloisi's been thrown in the deep end after spending a year in the toddler's wading pool. Its not entirely his fault, the club's as much at fault. The club suffers whilst he learns on the job. Another repeat of last season and there may not be a club fro him to keep learning. Well that's a bit extreme. If it was a repeat from last season then he would just be sacked and everyone would start dreaming about the following season with a new coach.

Doesn't work like that. For starters players will get injured and depending on who they are the team wont look so shit hot. Secondly you underestimate how much a role psychology and team harmony plays in the success of a team.

JA's attitude last year was lacking, often finding weak excuses for his team's losses. I expect Heart to have an average year followed by another average year (if JA stays in charge and doesn't get much help). Certainly can't see him taking Heart all the way. I hope he proves me wrong.

Look at how useful the first round win was last year? Sure it will be nice to win this one (I'm doubtful) but really it will be the following games that mean much more. edit: it's easy for Heart to fire up for the Derbies it seems but the games we are supposed to win, not so much.

All I know is that despite our good team I think there are at least five clubs I expect to do better than us. 1. Western Sydney 2. Victory 3. Brisbane 4. Central Coast 5. Sydney 6. Melbourne 7. Adelaide 8. Perth 9. Wellington 10. Newcastle But really I have no bloody idea.

Overseas players need to stop talking about coming to the A-League as though it's some kind of step down. It's the smarter decision if you ask me for many players struggling overseas (and 3 goals in 40+ games is struggling whether it's due to coming off the bench or not) If you can show that you are the cream of crop playing in the A_League (Rogic etc) then go back overseas.

I've heard statistically that Short Corners are actually more succesful than any other corner tactic.. I'd like to know the stats. Personally I despise short corners. At the very least a proper corner coming in is going to appear much more aggressive and positive. There's something about short corners that seems defeatist.
